Unlike it's predecessor, believe it or not, Fallout New Vegas only has one character named 'Raider.' Despite this, there are plenty of raider factions and gangs within the Mojave Wasteland who share plenty in common with the Capital Wasteland's nameless and faceless bandit bunch. Today, we'll be taking a look at all the raider gangs within New Vegas. Get a snack, buckle up, and give me all your caps. This is 'The Gangs of New Vegas.'

I love, that raider gangs in FNV are on their last legs. Vipers and Jackals are broken into small warbands on verge of destruction, Powder Gangers will cease to exist the moment NCR can spend any firepower to deal with hhem, Fiends will fall apart once leaderless. Only the Great Khans have possible future in Idaho and/or Wyoming. Raiders in Core Region are on their way out, as they should be at the NCRs doorsted.

The Great Khans aren't even raiders tho. They aren't necessarily honest, being drug dealers, but they don't just attack you out of no where like the others. Plus they can be recruited NCR or Legion which is a pretty good sign they ain't like the other petty raiders.

I almost dont care about the Powder Gangers because there just a new gang and thats it where the Khans, Jackals, etc have existed for almost over 100 years and have much more of a culture to them

@phantominway The Khans started off as full on raiders, but by the time of FNV, the NCR had broken their back long ago so they're basically just refugees.

Without the couriers intervention the powder gangers continue even if the prison is taken down they are still in a vault and if the courier doesn't wanna kill the fiends they still take down camp McCarran and take it over even if u get the ncr ending ncr is stretched paper thin and can even go out to get a body of a soilder that that the fiends killed

It’s a testament to New Vegas that I doubt many players even noticed the lack of “Raiders”.

I actually did notice the lack of raiders. I don’t think that makes the game worse, it makes sense since society is rebuilding itself, but still I think a few more gangs would be cool.

Hey hey come on, we all know the best gang in Fallout New Vegas are the Kings. “Thank ya, thank you very much 😎”. Love their style and the King is cool man. I’m 30 and I am a big Elvis Presley fan. I watched a lot of his old movies(even the 2022 movie). I really wish the King was a companion and I wish we had some Elvis music in the game but I understand why they couldn’t put some songs in NV. Probably too expensive.

The King himself actually seems like a good dude who genuinely cares for his peoples well being. I see the Kings as a protection gang that acts as a kind of government that keeps order in a place completely devoid of central authority. Sort of like the street gangs in the Favelas that actual police won't go to.

Its crazy to think the Followers are responsible for the majority of the Mojaves problems or can be traced back to them. They created the legion, ceaser, the legate, Joshua, the fiends, the great khans, bittersprings, the mojave drug trade, the destruction of vault 3, both hoover dam battles, all the tribes the legion conquered, the events of honest hearts, boones wifes death, the powder ganger problem, benny and yes man.

Weird definition of "responsible". As if other peoples are incapable of making decisions for there own and the Followers are to blame for everything. Your List of events is far-fetched. They are responsible for Yes-Man and indirect responsible for the drug trade through carelessness giving a raider group medical and medication instruction.

they aren’t responsible for the khans, or the powder Gangers. The powder gangers started because of the ncr giving prisoners dynamite, the khans have been around ever since fallout 2 started as raiders until tandi and the ncr blitz their asses.

Yeah, I was already imagining that they had it in mind, but due to them being rushed by the IP owner, it couldn't be implemented. If you ever read those stories about a delinquent unifying the gangs in their area, then its that vibe I'm thinking of.

That's never gonna work.Uniting all the gangs. Kings are worlds apart from Khans ,Vipers and Jackals. In ideas and actions. Vipers built their tribal culture around mutated viper snake mysticism not rampant cannibalism like the Jackals. They're all in different gangs, tribes cause of their differences for a reason.

You forgot to mention the Kings! They used to be a Tribe of a different name I think, until Mr. House & his Securitrons beat them & the Great Khans when they refused his offer to join in founding New Vegas. Survivors rallied behind a young man who then become the King, who later formed his Gang to become the Kings of Freeside. Unlike those you mentioned, they're not Raiders tho.

If you think about it realistically, Vault 3 is absolutely horrifying. Scorpions being chem dealers is a nice little joke. Needles(stingers) and Drugs(poison).

Always wondered who the vipers and jackals were since they had no real quests or significance in the game and never appeared anywhere else. Finding out about there lore and what they could’ve been, the vipers could’ve been pretty interesting. The jackals were eh.

Has anyone made mods for all this excellent flavor and lore? In particular, I don’t think the Jackals are cannibals in the game… maybe a sub-mod of something that already expands the cannibalism perk would be easiest, most effective and least intrusive to the game’s wider functionality.

I know there's only a certain amount of generic raiders in 4 but it makes sense that they'd just form different raider gangs, rather than having names and the same attire, I almost expect them to have a club badge and motto as well as their own anthem, it's all a bit ridiculous really, especially a gang of Elvis impersonators. Although I suppose it's part of the fun side of Fallout, having different little groups assembled into some kind of themed, members only club 😂

@@jeambeam3173 all enemies are just something else to shoot at, that's the point of the action side of an action RPG. In a post apocalyptic world you would more likely have groups of scavenging raiders, wearing whatever armour and wielding whatever weapons they could get their hands on. Picture Mad Max. Now imagine a gang of Elvis impersonators chasing him down!

It's not any stranger than gangs in real life having cheesey edge lord names and their own colors and tattoos. Gangs would absolutely adopt some type of uniform so they could identify friend from foe in a fight. And the edge lord names are because they are overgrown edge lords.

7:25 I've seen so much footage from 4/76 that I forgot what weapons in this franchise are supposed to like. Good jarb 'Thesda. Let me know when Obsidian gets the privilege of making a proper game in this franchise again.. EDIT: Seen the trailer for FOLON today and wept tears of joy. Hopefully not misplaced...

One huge thing that new Vegas did better than any game. Is being the "bad guy" in the story is a must do at least once. It's fully supported by quest and decisions on how bad you should be. See in comparison to other fallouts none do it like New Vegas. In fallout 4 you can't be "bad" instead you're just a sarcastic douche. In fallout 3 being the bad guy actually feels psychotic. Which is fun in games but there was no story or reasoning to back up the horrible decisions. Where as in Vegas it's actually a viable choice with many different endings and different levels of bad guy.

And that's why obsidian is better at creating a living world than bethesda, gangs that have own names and lore add depth to the story, not like in 4 or 3 where they are called "raiders" and are simply targets to shoot at.
