The rising sign is fixed 30 degree above the horizon. Period. That is why it is called the ascendant. The light, fire, vitality, strength of the first house is when the Sun rises above the horizon within that 30 degree. This is also in correlation with eastern astrology. The 1st sign, in the eastern chinese astrology is Dragon, at 7am to 9am, depending on where you are. The 12th sign is the rabbit, allegorically indicate that the Rabbit is shy and often hides in dark holes. The western astrological erroneously allocate the 12th sign as the 1st sign. How is the Sun rising with strength, vitality and fire at 8am in the morning be allocated to the 12th of hidden matter? We can use our mind to think consciously and logically. Hence, the backdrop of the sky movement is clockwise, but the birth chart houses are calculated anticlockwise as it awaits each sign to come out from the horizon. The opposite of Horus, Set in the 7th house is ruled by Set aka Saturn in astrology, where the start of night begins when the Sun falls below the horizon where activities start to restrained, consolidated and decreases. I watched this video the second time today, the first time was a year ago. This discussion and the implication of Gauguelin's research is very important. His works need to be continued with the computing power of modern times.
This is fascinating! I have 1° Scorpio rising conjunct Mars at 2° Scorpio. I’m no pro athlete but I did give birth to a super Martian daughter, a red head born on a Tuesday, right after a lunar eclipse. Most interestingly, she has a crazy angular grand cross - Uranus at 13° Aries conjunct her ascendant at 13° and mercury at 14°, Jupiter at 12° cancer conjunct IC at 12°, mars at 16° libra conjunct descendant, and Pluto at 13° Capricorn conjunct MC, She’s truly been force to be reckoned with since the day she was born 🧑🦰😍
Awesome purely awesome. According to gauquelin calculation although born 8/10/1982 I am in fact a Pisces. And I must say I 100% I'm also upset that his work on Venus was never complete as both Venus & the moon are both prominent in my chart.

Im a bit too much of a Carl Jung fanboi, but as he always argued to the death, statical analysis of humans are great for find ing the 'average' person, but quite often we find this average person doesnt exist, and it was the outliers that we cast aside that really represent the population, since the population is a collection of individuals. Not a criticism of the episode at all though, loved it.
mars effect - on the cadent houses because primary directions are more puissant when CONVERSE, and when in 12th or 9th house, they must do a CONVERSE Direction instead of DIRECT. and that is a great difference in directions. so when the MAR S is in those houses, it will have a more powerful direction to the angles close to it, which is normally begins active at very young age.

I checked an “astro twins” data bank where there’s one person who was an Olympic athlete in long range track (I forget how long) either French or Italian (I forget) who has the mars, Venus, Pluto in the 10th house. Quite a few international celebrities with no birth times. Female politician known for being kinda raunchy, a female black/doom metal vocalist from like Scandinavia or something. The Indian equivalent to the full house sitcom dad. It was entertaining. Checked this out after listening to another episode with Austin about astrological magic. It’s come up on shows and likely especially from Austin so I’ll go further. Saying synchronicity can seem like a wishy washy cop-out just because it’s not expanded on being all vague. When planets get named where there’s a weird synchronicity would more rationally be more like an internal recognition of a planet in one’s chart without actually knowing it. Someone finds a planet and really thinks about what a proper name is which is an internal process. Some says Pluto even though it looks like a used up gobstopper from Willy Wonka, but there’s likely in internal mechanic you could say is astrological where (internally) there’s an archetypal feeling/emotion that’s being connected to while meditation on it. “When I consider this, I feel this way..” nothing has meaning, meaning comes from the internal so the coincidence of planet names resulting in a planetary (or even body) associated with a pattern is synchronicity. Astrological magic would fall into that so I’ll open up the thought experiment because my interest in astro-magic and the episode on mars falls into this category. By means of “magic” I have a roughly 80+% accuracy while not using any of those methods. One I joke about with conspiracy theorists that follow Icke is I actually fit that motif which is absolutely absurd. Then I say it was Saturn and Pluto. However, that chart natal chart dynamic exists in lots plus it was actually related to (wishing for it) a mars, Venus, pluto and Saturn dynamic. Even though I wished for it before it happened, it didn’t kick in until an astrological alignment. I wished for less, but in actuality I wished for the world to have to live in the life I was forced to live for 3-5 years because it was the only way to fix social problems.. basically, I had to put my life aside for several years to care for elderly grandparents who lived a great life while others didn’t take care of their responsibilities and some profited while (which was why I was mad) shamed and punished me for choosing the right moral path. Basically, job loss and etc. basically what the world is dealing with. Sacrificing life and their future life to protect the elderly and already sick while being forced to be isolated. The world is feeling how I felt. The thought experiment is: did I actually wish for something or was the thought and meditation not of my own processes and I simply interpreted them? If you’re doing an electional chart, it’s just taking something likely known internally and then looking external. If a talisman is made, or food is eaten by some ritual; it’s only to promote an internal meditation of the planets and signs which isn’t likely necessary if you were in tune with the planetary configuration internally. Take Becca Tarnas, something that interested me was what if you took your natal chart and created a mythology or fantasy story like Tolkien did into a new world? Technically, it would happen regardless if you used active imagination because you’d write out these archetypes on their own. The rituals would just be focus points to help focus on an energy already internally present. Then I wonder, the main lots; are these the areas a person may want to use astrological magic exactly how the lots would describe because I certainly did find (so far) lot of spirit and nemesis related to my use of severe tension with mars where (likely with later astrological alignments in transits, not referring to the above example) there were results while not being absolutely 100% accurate. Accurate enough. My lots are very entangled because of how clustered the natal is. Eros is tied to nemesis with spirit as is victory, courage, and necessity etc. fortune in whole sign is in the 7th which is the primary trigger of tension etc. lol. My point is, regardless of astrological magic method or even maybe electional, horary… they may not be as external but tools to focus internally which would be synchronicity. Just felt like actually commenting on the understandable frustration with everything seeming to be explained with just “synchronicity” without any explanation. Forgotten: the reception episode had “strangers on a train” by lovage stuck in my head so I hope if you’re ever looking at reception in a chart using that planet/sign reception and using that analogy it gets stuck in your head.
So many people looking to "learn astrology" just want to be told what the "facts" are and stick with that, but don't really appreciate that the philosophy is as important as the astronomy. Many people just want to reach the conclusion and have knowledge without making the kinda of considerations that are actually necessary to reach a conclusion. There's a real disconnect from the intellectual process, unfortunately. Not that I'm an intellectual AT ALL! But I'm curious enough to wonder if others reached the right conclusion without just believing them. No, that's not how western astrology works,. I don't know about Vedic of Chinese but Western astrology works well with it's system of houses and signs. Real traditional western astrology that is, not the bogus mainstream psychological stuff.

The true esoteric western astrology was in sync with all. Then it went inverse from clockwise to anti-clockwise & vice versa, as his---story of his kingdom has to be created for people like you.
That Gauquelin didn't find any effect with Mercury & the outer planets, to me is more convincing, as they are too small & far away. That an effect wasn't found with the Sun, is I think because the alignment of the atmospheric envelope with it is the fundamental upon which the modulations of the planets operate upon. A real clue as to what's happening is the 10 degree offset from the ascendant & the mid-heaven, in that when the Moon orbit the Earth it drags the atmospheric envelope behind it, so when a planet is 10 degrees offset it means that the envelope has reached a high level & is returning to a lower one, so these positions represent a change-over. I've constructed a model for possible mechanism of "Astrology" that include the Gauquelin effects, first make a downward pointing equilateral triangle, draw a horizontal dotted line separating the celestial heavens above from the terrestrial Earth below, at the top left hand point draw an empty circle, this represents the planets & the Moon, at the top right hand point draw a circle with a dot in the middle, this represents the Sun, lastly at the middle bottom point draw a circle with a cross to represent the Earth. Next draw a wide arrow going from the planets to the Earth, this represents the "Direct Geocentric Mechanism", which is the gravity of the planets producing atmospheric tides, which changes the voltage gradient between the Earth & the ionosphere, & Doppler shifts the Schumann resonance, the magnetic component of which effects the semi-conductive "holes" in the perineum (see "The Body Electric" by Robert Becker) via the transverse Hall effect. Next draw a wide arrow from the planets to the Sun & then from the Sun to the Earth, this represents the "Indirect Heliocentric Mechanism", whereby te gravity of the planets produces solar tides that pulse the energetic particle emissions which spiral around the magnetic lines of force of the Heliomagnetosphere which in turn oscillate the Geomagnetosphere, if such a mechanism produces any influences they might be found in cycle theory, a phenomena waiting for a mechanism. Lastly draw another arrow within the Sun to Earth arrow, this represents the Geosolar effects of the Day & Year, the circadian cycle & seasonality both in seasonal biology & seasonal sociology (1 book), this last arrow is those influences accepted by science but not labeled "Astrology", even though they constitute Astronomy influencing behavior.
Regarding the outer planets, I have Uranus at my ascendent, believe me, it does have a great effect. I always wondered why my sun sign and my ascendent dont match my character, until I found out that Uranus is sitting there at this special place.
