@@ImSoSilvy I mean, Izzy also didn't have to escape Africa. He left, by plane, because he was rich with servants. There probably isn't a more underwhelming African story than Izzy's. I agree not every story is going to be as harsh and inspiring as Ngannou's, but escaping Brazilian poverty with no education, with just sheer talent and hard work is still a remarkable feat on its own.

The thing is, Patrick really, really, REALLY thought Izzy was gonna win, so the doc has a very strong "redemption" vibe. I guess he had to shoot the last scenes in a hurry after Poatan showed that nukes for hands matter more than scorecards.

Pereira is a freak of nature. He started kickboxing only when he was 21, at 27 he became Brazilian kickboxing champion even having serious alcohol problems. His history is so inspirational as Izzy's is.

His story is amazing as well and makes his own rivalry with Izzy even more like something out of a movie. I wish people knew a lot more about Alex

Yeah I feel like part of the reason he is so stoic and shows almost no emotions even in victories has to do from what he has gone through in childhood, dropping out of school at 12, working as mechanic with adults who made you alcoholic just like them must've been traumatic, his story isnt much different tgan ngannous, like Ngannou said he never had a childhood, heartbreaking

How do you come back from that? Uhm Izzy hadn't lost to Alex in years and was dominating in the best fighting organization in the world...then Izzy fights Alex again, almost has him out in the first, dominates the fight and loses with a minute or two to go just bc Izzy backed up to the cage and gave AP the opening Alex needed to win.

Alex gave Izzy a taste of his own medicine and destroyed his legs (probably the only one with the dimensions necessary to do it at middle weight), that's why he couldn't defend against Alex in the fifth, his body was too worked up. Izzy made some mistakes, but a lot of what lead to the TKO was planned by Alex

@@marinmarinhola yeah Im not hating on Alex but idt he's that methodical...Izzy got hurt w that check leg kick in the 4th I think and that really messed him up...Izzy said it was in the first but the leg check in the 4th really messed him up ..either way Izzy was more methodical and controlled the fight for 22 minutes.

I’m a Poatan fan and predicted he would win but I agree, I think Adesanya was the best MW champion in the UFC due to beating guys way better than Anderson fought.

Why not support both ? both r cool as fuck.

No shame in losing to Alex, he got fast tracked to the title shot because Israel was running out of good match ups, Alex's striking was already elite. He's like 20-30lb heavier than Israel too. It's like a middle weight vs a light heavy weight. Despite that advantage it was a great fight, very difficult for both guys. I think Israel has the skills to beat him, he just needed to put more pressure on Alex when he was trying to conserve energy, different than what his team normally does but with this opponent you have to fight fire with fire, otherwise he will put the pressure on later on in the fight just like he did. I think Israel's cornermen wanted him to be too patient in rd 5 because they won enough rounds, but his leg was too compromised to evade Alex's pressure. Props to Alex, this fight played out like a movie, both guys are warriors!
