He completely lost me on his last point, focusing on image vs substance. He talks about embracing both ends of the continuum throughout the video but completely drops it in his last point. Focusing too much on optics is the problem, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't focus on optics at all; first impressions count. After all, Sam Ovens HIMSELF wears a smart suit in his RU-vid ads. If you don't look presentable, no one will even give you a chance, and then it doesn't matter what you know. It's also ironic that he talks about contradictions and how people shouldn't be fooled by them, for example, thinking a financial loss is an actual loss (when it is a strategic loss). Yet, he seems to think immaculately dressed people have no substance. You CAN be immaculately dressed and know what you're talking about; to suggest otherwise is stupid. He talks about running if someone presents dressed too fancy (which is questionable advice anyway, as I mentioned earlier). However, we should equally run if someone is in their boxer shorts and a stained vest too.

Hegel, a famous German philosopher actually described this oscillation in the history of thought. He talked about how an idea would rise, the thesis, and then the antithesis would replace that and finally a medium would be reached. It’s referred to as the Hegelian Dialetic. The concept is also similar to the Middle Way which is a critical paradigm in Buddhism. Super insightful stuff as always

This is one of Sam's best videos yet, possibly even the very best, in my opinion, because not only does it summarizes the teachings from several of his other very good videos, but the philosophy and knowledge in it can be applied to all aspects of life. I once read a phrase, which has had a profound impact on my own life: "All extremes are bad", which is basically the entire content of this video boiled down to a single sentence. It really is extremely simple stuff, but like with so much simple stuff, it takes a genius to see it and clearly explain it to everyone.

@The Roof I think you need to seriously consider everything you just said, and look at it objectivly. 1. "I bet Sam's never done a real man's days work" You don't know if he has or not, but what does it matter? Why is his value tied to whether or not he's done a days work of heavy labor? Most heavy labor jobs have been replaced by automation in the modern world, are we less "men" than we were 50 years ago? This is honestly just nonsense. 2. "The statement that you need to love your work is fine if your getting good coin." A lot of people do a job they enjoy and love, for very little money. Enough to live for sure, but not a lot of money. What's wrong with that? Besides let's just consider what Sam's been trying to explain in this video "Don't be binary". So maybe if doing a job you love gives you no money at all, and you hate your high paying job. Then find a middle ground, a job you enjoy but isn't perfect, that also pays enough. 3. "Instead of doing it all. Working and building a business. He fucking cheated." How is this cheating? He looked at his circumstances and made a desicion based on that. Certaintly some people have it harder than Sam had at that point, but it shouldn't diminish his accomplishments. He's gotten to a level of success very few people get, even if you think he cheated you should still give the devil his due. 4. "There's a old sating 'work hard, party hard' at Sam's age he should be partying hard" Why? In what would should a saying, or You decide what Sam should be doing with his time? I can't even understand the arrogance in this statement. 5. "Get too much money to early and your life will flat line." .... in what world? Do you have any proof? Sam seems pretty happy? As do most young successful entrepreneurs I've seen. Like what the actual fuck are you even saying here.

This video also does a great job of highlighting the paradoxes of the world. Be confident, yet be humble. Stand in chaos, and in order. Be a specialist, yet know many things. To achieve freedom, you must give up freedom. etc. It's something I've considered for a long time, and I find it extremely interesting.

Thank you for this video. I always thought there was something wrong with me because I always feel like a walking contradiction, and no-one really understands. People just project their biases onto me, when I'm usually in this completely other world just trying to observe what the hell is going on. Now that I've started becoming an entrepreneur it's even more apparent as both sides of things are giving me massive amount of pushback, so this video just speaks to me. That confidence thing is spot on. I always feel like a failure, and that drives me to be the best to ever exist. When I say things like that, people just think that I either have self-esteem issues, or that I think I'm the best, neither of which are really true. Anyway, thank you so much for making me not feel crazy.

I'm reading The Plutocrats. In chapter 5 it covers exactly what you said about how markets correct themselves with boomerang effect. Companies that start to stagnate and flail, but continue doing more of the same thing they've always done, are doomed. There's a reason customers stop buying from us: we are not giving them what they want, or someone else is simply doing it better or cheaper or faster. Change is growth.

Very practical. This does remind me of Hegel's dialectic concept (Antithesis+Thesis) to produce a synergy between opposites. For most new marketers, they do 100 marketing things as a divergent action. It leads into maintenance liabilities and more issues and ideas that come with it. Having a clear convergent catch all goal lets you instantly make use of it all, track results, and you can start ending the divergent path. Thanks Sam.

Thanks for putting out such great content. I have watched this video twice already and I'm sure I will watch it a few more times. You are the first You Tube channel I subscribed to and watch your business videos almost daily. I run a small struggling retail store and I'm trying to learn from someone that has for the most part figured business out and not only is willing to share their knowledge but explains concepts in a easy to understand and implement fashion. I'm not for sure if you have read the book "The Power of Wisdom " by Aman Motwane where he explains duality and that nothing exists without it's opposite. Without uncertainty there would be no certainty. I'm certain I will keep watching the great content you put out and thanks again for sharing

OMG! This is totally brilliant! One of your best videos in my opinion! Maybe the best! I liked it when you said we need to merge work and play. I think this precision applies to all the points you developped in the video. One additional thought in an attempt to merge what you say and the idea that we should focus on our natural talents/strengths (instead of improving our weaknesses): Maybe the solution is to focus most of our time and energy (let's say at least 80%...in accordance to the Pareto Principle) on our natural talents (ex: divergent thinking...by the way, I am a "N and P" in the Myer Briggs Test ;)), but allocate some of the time (let's say at most 20%) to our "non-natural" traits. In order to more fully express and stimulate our brain. For example: I am naturally a visionary/idea person...but I sometimes love taking action (when the work I do passionates / inpires me)... and this action often stimulates my creativity...and new ideas emerge in the process! And maybe we should keep this good practice (80/20), even when the business grows and even when we can delegate more and more of this stuff (that we are not a "natural" at). But still, I'll have to find a way to merge this idea with the idea (that I am believing at the moment) that we should focus our time and energy fully on what energizes us (which, in my case, are mostly things for which I have an intense passion and natural abilities). Of course, your thoughts on these ideas would be greatly appreciated :)

In Tokyo in the Meiji era there lived two prominent teachers of opposite characteristics. One, Unsho, an instructor in Shingon, kept Buddha's precepts scrupulously. He never drank intoxicants, nor did he eat after eleven o'clock in the morning. The other teacher, Tanzan, a professor of philosophy at the Imperial University, never observed the precepts. When he felt like eating he ate, and when he felt like sleeping in the daytime he slept. One day Unsho visited Tanzan, who was drinking wine at the time, not even a drop of which is supposed to touch the tongue of a Buddhist. 'Hello, brother,' Tanzan greeted him. 'Won't you have a drink?' 'I never drink!' exclaimed Unsho solemnly. 'One who does not drink is not even human,’ said Tanzan. 'Do you mean to call me inhuman just because I do not indulge in intoxicating liquids!' exclaimed Unsho in anger. Then if I am not human, what am I?' 'A Buddha.' answered Tanzan. ~ Stolen from Wiki

Sam, you hit on a great topic. Would you please do a video explaining MBTI and personality traits that provide advantages and disadvantages? Please dig more into this; I know you can find more great insight.

I agree 100% with this kind of perspective :) To set the perspective - I'm your kinda loyal fan Sam, since 2-3 weeks. I've watched about 20-30 hours of your content. Also watched the 1st webinar for coaching accelerator. Also I've read your book recommendation about Sam's Walton 'Made In America'. It was my personal best - 36 hours from starts reading to the end. This video is also very interesting. I also felt from my industry, how our market doesn't get it. In cryptocurrency niche there are most people, who have no any idea about how economy works. They are (kinda) specialists, but don't know almost nothing about economy & hard numbers. There is also incredible perspective about the whole market, where people doesn't understand model of up's & down's. We are from Eastern Europe (and currently we are not yet in English language market), so you probably wouldn't understand any single word, but charts & numbers which I'm mentioning just in offer could look's little bit interesting about what could have happened nearly. www.finansowykomandos.pl/oferta-progresywna (no, I'm not selling anything - not through this comment :)) In one of the your video I also saw that you wasn't "convinced" to invest in cryptocurrency, what was very good choice at this moment also. I realized also that nobody was good enough to explain yourself the whole model of new economy. But... as I just told before I'm not here to sell anything. Just still I can tell that if you have will have any questions about this market, I'm very open to give all the answers from my perspective. There are above 2.000 "currencies", but probably less then 10 have any sense. It's quite good to know which one, and why :) Quality of answers just have to defend itself. For sure I'm here, because I'm open for sell the stuff to our company. I have contacted your team, and I'm redirected to Jesse. Jesse wrote to me & I will do my best to ensure our CEO to do the best decision & buy Consulting Accelerator (even where I don't know the price yet). Our company have made around $1M in sales in last year, but I see how much on the other planet are your results & how much easier your program can make our business & life. We are also cooperating very tight with >20 year experienced R&D private company (Glokor), so quality is one our favorite words. It gives us much easier access to Cambridge, Oxford, Stanford scientist - which can also be useful asset. If you need any help in this segment - we could be helpful to open the door there. I have a lot of respect for your business because of your clients results. I was for a little period of time quite pissed of when you have made ad when you kinda laugh at from Tai Lopez, Grant Cardone & probably others... but when I understand what kind of quality you have in your programs - it gave the whole new perspective. My question "who the hell is this guy to make statement like this...?" was answered :) I'm "the numbers guy" (and also "the psychology guy"), so on my head had been creating one of our products & now also is marketing of it to the new potential customers. I'm playing to dominate the whole market (money segment) from cryptocurrency perspective, so there is kinda challenge to go so wide in the market :) I hope we will cooperate soon. Good luck your sales team with our CEO!

~ Thank you to my dear sister Claudia for recommending Ovens to me. Very sound ideas, and most illuminating. Thank you, also, to Sam Ovens in 2019. Cheers, DAVEDJ ~

Thanks, Sam the ultimate contradiction is our ultimate truth and then it isn't! Life is fun. I was so inspired by your program I wrote an epic contradictory review called Sam Ovens Honest Review it's online now. Sam said to me on Facebook he thought it was the best review page so far. I didn't want to spend so much time on it but then I did. My daily contradictions in action as a content creator.

Great video Sam, couldn't help notice you're reading a lot of books on programming. Any particular reason?

A boss once told me that I worry too much. Don’t think he was complementing me but should I now take that as a compliment? Lol
