Thats such a Dublin phrase - its a pure ad lib from the great Colin Farrell ..the other actor hides his surprised urge to laugh very well. I love all the avuncular slapping from Colin, great touch.
@@AlvinFlang69420 More like wanting to get away from it all for a second time or something. Knowing to be respectful and paying your debt and then fucking off. But it's a movie anyway.
The Coach is one of the wisest characters ever. Never try to fight someone far more powerful than you. Offer them amends. From the beginning know what they will require and instead of promises show that you will make a valuable ally. That's how Raymond saw the Coach would be a very valuable ally and his debt was later forgiven and forgotten.
Exactly! Everything from the Café scene earlier in the film showed what kind of man Coach was. Only engaged with those lads because he knew he could handle them, but kept to using his words until they brought the fight to him and even the first time they tried, he kept trying to use his words. "Real grown ups use their heads." Everything in that scene was so perfectly executed that it laid the groundwork for these scenes to be so great.
@@FatGouf I still wonder if he ended up owing another 3 favors as a result of the Toddler's ambush, or if they ended up being square because Mickey lived? But we also don't see the next part, so did he escape the Toddlers? They were there for him, the Russians were a happy accident. Then again though, that part might be a fake movie ending from Fletcher, who knows? I just hope Coach eventually got all of them out from under.
@@Ellerz03 I'd imagine, based on those young punks knowing who he was in the cafe, The Coach is know around town. I'd assume he's known for being solid, smart, and keeping his word. So Ray knows having the Coach working for him is worth something for sure.
Yeah he was straight to the point. Didn't cry for forgiveness like a pussy but instead, he owned up the actions of his "lads" and offered his service to fix the problems that they created. That's a proper way to apologize.
I like that he displayed he had a full understanding of their grievance too. A stupider man would've shown up and promised to give it all back and be square... or maybe tried to pay them. Coach is smart enough to know the real inconvience here isn't the lost product or money, its the fucking hassle, the hit to the rep, etc. So he offers to help in solving those problems till they are square.
I still can't watch the pig scene without cracking up, especially when he says it's not the pig he would have chose and when Dave is heard in the background saying "Squeal for me, piggy" and "Give me that applesauce."😂😂😂😂 Raymond: "You can't unsee it once you've seen it, can you?" Coach: "No you can't unsee it. It's nightmare fuel. That will be with me forever."
That quick cut to McConaughey was so good. And that he was highly irritated at this point but not completely unreasonable speaks to their relationship and makes these characters feel lived in and real. Also, Coach is amazing and his speech protecting his kids is perfect.
It's a good way to apologize. You start out by agreeing that the other guy's right to be pissed off, you explain but not excuse the bad behavior, you take ultimate responsibility for the wrongdoing, you say what you can and can't do right away to fix things, and you ask what you can do to satisfy the person who's been wronged.
@@MoeLaneIII and also knowing how to make amends and walk into that meeting having done the first step. Having Phuc in the trunk was 95% of the apology.
lol rays face when he heard that kids name hahahsh i died instantly + parachute+pattern emerging and jumping phuck boy to end it lmfao this is a good scene
This entire interaction was hands down the best scene and one i keep coming to watch again and again!! The coach oozing class and respect!! This is what being a man used to be.
At 00:27, Ray starts to like the Coach but it’s evident that he’s not comfortable with “liking him” at first. At 01:20, they’re literally buddies. He trusts him already and doesn’t put up a persona against him, doesn’t bother appearing cold and intimidating. He just behaves like he is after that point.
Rocknrolla on top here, then Snatch, Gentlemen and Lock Sotck. I don't include Revolver that i still have to understand .. This top 4 is one kind of a gem tho. A+ material.
LMAO!!!! the way they kept saying his name completely wrong! dont know which was funnier...the way they kept saying his name wrong, or the "and who's this Phuc boy, anyway?"
