The Russian government justified the 2022 invasion of Ukraine by appealing to the memory of Nazi Germany's 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union. This webinar, with scholars from The National WWII Museum's Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy and Arizona State University's School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies, is a roundtable discussion of the Third Reich's invasion and brutal occupation of Ukraine, the Holocaust in Ukraine, and Soviet responses to German aggression there. The aim of the webinar is to throw light on the actual course of events between 1941 and 1944 in Ukraine, a region of immense economic and strategic importance to both the Hitler and Stalin regimes during World War II.
