I know this collab isn't cannon but I just can't help but imagine the original timeline of your series being where France failed, while the one where they won is after having received help from Gilgamesh. Again, I know if that was truly the case the war wouldn't have been so drawn out and France would've won in a week (or less) but it's still a fun thing to imagine imo

I have a different theory, if this was in the timeline where France loses, I have an idea, in the 1st episode of season 3 when France in the end scene is about to die he said something about how he was promised something. I suspect that this promise was the promise that Gilgamesh made in this series. But of course he lost in that timeline, so Gilgamesh might not be honest and trustworthy as he seems to be. This isn’t cannon though, so this is probably not the case.
