I'm pretty much jaded with all the golf tutorials these days on Y.T., T.T., etc. What caused me to stop on this one was the unique thumbnail.....(Underhand Throw...). Found myself staying for the whole 7+ minutes. Damn if it didn't get me off the sofa and off to the range (on a 98 degree day) to try this out. When I finally got it right, the feeling I had was that of a baseball power hitter. The ball was going ridiculous distances.....thank you, sir! Got a new subscriber here! 👍🍸🥃

I would just like to express my appreciation for this video! I am a left side dominant golfer who plays right handed so a lot of my focus has been on the lead wrist and the actions of the lead side for some unknown reason. I got sick and tired of people saying the golf swing was it just a throw or skipping a rock Etc because it never resonated and definitely could never execute any of that. I'm fairly coordinated with my right hand but it had nothing to do with my mechanics. I watched your video hesitantly thinking that this was just nonsense. Yet just your description of how the trail hand grips the club was an absolute game changer! Almost all of my mechanics and motions were actually pretty right on with the exception of where the trail hand was gripping the club! So literally I have easily gained two clubs with each iron just from my right hand to Trail hand actually releasing properly now. It has dramatically changed the way I see the swing and what is supposed to be happening dynamically. I find it ironic that I've read literally hundreds of books on Golf and watched almost every video that's available and nobody ever mentions this detail so simply. This was extremely valuable piece of information and I thank you very much. I have been looking into teaching Golf and have put it off because I knew my swing wasn't quite right and this was actually the final piece of a lot of that. Thank you very much for some actual quality information

Wow! I needed this. I just walked in the backyard at 5am to try this. It took about 5-6 swings with just my right hand to get the feel for it and once I added my left arm back in I simply kept it straight but for the first time focused on what my right hand was doing. Before I always swung with my left arm…. Now with my focus on my right arm I am sailing my irons farther and straighter than ever before. I can’t wait to get out to the course! Edit: another round driving balls with my 5 iron and I have finally crossed the line from having trouble hitting straight with any power to can’t miss! I have no idea how I never had this epiphany before…. I’m right handed, why was I trying to control my swing with my left arm??

Not sure if it is ideal to use the dominant hand too much in the swing, if you want the swing of a scratch golfer. I think what you want is nearly dead hands, actually.
@rkswingking
@rkswingking 21 день назад
I agree 100% ... really just showing how the right hand and arm move in the swing .. most never use it correctly . Once they do then the coordinated action of feet knees and hips in a waking motion allows the club to swing with passive hands and the right makes the underhand action and the left makes a backhand action .. and that is what I think you are referring to

You can have that image and do that . You will just have to open your chest more and have a heck of a lot of right lateral bend . I just want the right arm action that goes with the compound pivot . It is faster and easier on the body , but if your flexible you can do it , A current tour player that does this is Victor Hovland and so his speed is capped at a certain speed even though he is world class player with that move that works for him

Well I don't open my chest and bend down with alot of right lateral bend to get level with the ground . I support the straight left leg which stops rotation and allows the arm to whip through. That's a big difference

@miltonmatthews2138 29 дней назад
Looks to me more like a side throw instead of underhand. I think of unhand throws like the women's softball.
@rkswingking
@rkswingking 29 дней назад
Side arm motion will force a chest that opens to much . When throwing under your left leg straightens on the downswing which will create way more lag naturally and the lag will be higher up . Think of a baseball pitcher , if he opened his chest a bunch he would push the ball thru , no snap. Side arm throw is more like a submarine throw and that wont have as much speed

I get what you are trying to illustrate by saying the body doesn’t move the hands and arms, and I am going to try this idea/feeling . However, when many people speak of the body moving the arms, they tend to be talking about if you keep the arms and hands structure at address; and then move the body. Just as if you were doing say a wood chopping oblique exercise with a cable or band. You would keep the structure formed at the start of the exercise and turn your body or tilt your body..at least to start the motion. Im guessing, you know this though. You are just trying to illustrate a point. I do feel/think keeping some structure to your arms would make things more consistent or powerful than just trying to move your arms and hands independently of your body. Then again, obviously my swing has issues; or I wouldn’t be looking at youtube videos. I don’t think necessarily that is what you are trying to say to do. Though, because you frequently address that the body doesn’t move the arms, it can seem like you are implying that. When you are throwing a ball though, you think about taking the hand back; but the body is what moves first. The intended motion makes the body do what it knows to do. I think the problem is that the golf swing is not what people/the body know what to do. There isn’t a specific way to do it. Or, at least one taught and then learned by most people. So, we all have these ideas of what a golf swing is, or the function of one, that is inaccurate. At least, in part. We don’t have a correct “intended motion” for our body to do. Our brain is cuing our body to do something, but at least in part, our body is doesn’t have the right blueprint or taught motion pattern.
@rkswingking
@rkswingking Месяц назад
Thank you . I am glad you found the channel . I try and teach images and feels . The body does respond there is force before motion and shifts and counterbalances for sure. Understand knowing all this doesn't necessarily make you better . I am just keeping it simple. I have done videos that are extensive detailed amd longer that are on my page . Force before motion and counterbalances etc . All that happens though with throwing images or swinging a rope a weight on a string . I really try and teach people to golf and not just play golf swing . I hope this helps .
