Today, at 49 years old, I had my upper teeth removed due to a long battle with periodontal disease. I opted for immediate denture. The healing begins. On a side note, my mother had her upper and lower dentures when she was 35 yrs old. She's 75 now and said it was the best decision she ever made for her smile and over all health. I am very glad I found your channel few days prior to teeth extraction. The post surgery weekly update videos really helped me prepare mentally. Thank you for sharing!
Just got all my teeth snatched this past Monday due to perio and watching your videos are very encouraging reminding on why I made the decision in the first place I just want to live a healthy life but today was one of those days were Im just like wtf have I done and feeling scared but I never liked my old smile so that helps knowing that plus I found you videos thank God because I was feeling like if Im loosing my mind
I'm 10 days post extractions and having regrets because my temps are not functional at all. I'm not able to speak, cannot drink, gagging, in pain, it's terrible. I'm basically no better off. But I keep watching your videos and you are very encouraging. I am trying really hard to get over this early stage of learning the how tos. Thank you.
Call or go to see dentist. Tell them your issues and have them advise. Your still very early so things will be a challenge but you should be in a better situation. Good luck
I was in your exact same position. My immediate were loose, painful and horrible. I dealt with it for about a month before I went back and had a new denture made. This one fits better and isn't painful. My gums are still healing so they are starting to loosen but give it some time
Justin love watching your videos I fell victim of dentures about a month ago. I’m 70 years old. It’s good that I got through most of my life without them. I had one tooth pulled. The others were missing for many years so my gums were healed. I went right from impression to permanent denture, it fits very good. It is very strange to get used to. I’m only on my second day right now with my permanent and I’m not the only issue I have is my pallet area towards the very back is a little sore. I’m not happy having them at all, but maybe I will get used to themagain love watching your videos 😊

I do have the majority of my lower front and side teeth so that helps a lot.
Thank you for your videos! As a new denture wearer month and 2 weeks in. You have helped me a lot. Still adjusting. Can't wait to eat almost normal again. Not there yet.
Thanks for the perspective, I'm having the top removed, with out a same day denture, but I only have 12 teeth on top. I hope it goes well, you smile is great! Thanks.
Reaction from the a Netherlands . Your videos help me so much and last Thursday my upper teeth get pulled out. Till now no pain at all. Looking forward to eat normally and speaking. Keep up making these videos. Thank you
Thank you so much for posting your videos. I’m in the UK and there are more or less no videos on getting dentures. I’m shortly due to start the denture journey. My thought is to get NHS (yes we get help here with costs) dentures which will cost me £150 as my immediate ones. They’re perfectly adequate being made from mouth molds and many people only ever permanently have these types, but then in 6 months time when my gums have settled down I will pay £2,000 plus for better quality private dentures. Nervous but also excited for my journey!! Thanks again. 👍
hi im 7 days in with my upper dentures also uk and nhs immediate dentures i finding them really painfull at the moment any movement of jaw i lose the suction from roof of mouth unable to use glue at the moment as gums still healing
I do the same exact thing on the very rare occasion I do eat ice cream ! I am in the beginning of all this, my E-day is next month and I am beyond nervous, will be getting immediates but for the top only for the time being..
Good video, I may have to have dentures myself. May I ask a question about eating ? I love some crunchiness in foods like chips or fried foods. Can you still enjoy the various textures a food may have ?
The sad, horrible truth is that dental care and vision care are considered luxury upgrades that you have to pay extra for when buying health insurance in America.
It’s becoming pretty desperate here in the UK , my NHS dentist has left the practice and they have no other NHS dentist on their books . They have offered me private treatment but I am on disability benefit and simply can’t afford it . They have assured me they are looking for more NHS dentists but they are becoming increasingly hard to come by , and they have ‘ no idea ‘ how long I will be without a dentist . I just pray nothing will happen to my remaining teeth or denture in the meantime . My Eight year old granddaughter needs treatment urgently and my son and his wife can’t get her in anywhere , even the children are suffering ‼️. Our NHS is on its knees and it’s SO worrying …
Love your videos Justin…helping me a lot…..my out of pocket cost for the Immediates and Permanents is $3900 which included ten Extractions…….and after four adjustments for the lowers, he started charging $50 for any more adjustments…….and a Soft Reline $380 I was quoted!!!!!!! I only had $2000 Insurance……maybe you had a better Dental Plan…….giving people my costs hopefully will help when someone goes to their dentist of choice to let them compare…this is as of May 2023……..per your advice I am going to try the Fixodent Ultra today on my bottoms which flop all over and I haven’t been wearing them……have been eating just with my tops in…😂. On week four…….tks for all your help. Oh and I qualified for a loan from “Care Credit” if anyone wants to get financing……….
Hi Justin, I'm 53, I just had 27 teeth pulled 10 days ago, your so right about the insecurities that the bad teeth can bring, I've still got discomfort, and sutures seem to be slowly dissolving, I had alveoplasty done so my next step is I'm assuming ... impressions?? Can u tel me what happens preparing for a good fitting set of dentures?
They use a tray with this putty type material to get a mold of your gums. There are two types of relines. Soft reline is put in the denture when it becomes loose from shrinking. These are done every 4-6 weeks at dentist or some do at home. The reline kits for at home have different lengths of life so may need done more frequently. Hard reline is done to make the denture a new permanent mold of your healed and shrunken mouth.
Real teeth cost too. Australia doesn't give you anything too unless you on a pension card. I had private dental when I had my Job. It given me 2 cleaning a year and 2 dental treatments eg . Filling or taking out. Roots were covered with 150.00 dollars, however they around 1700.00 per tooth..depending how many Roots. Many buy teeth whitening stuff, cost heaps. I had my procedure done in January, all bottom and 6 upper. So waiting for healing and have appointment 24th April, for permanent. However, I have bone spur in front of my lower gum and worried it will affect my fitting and afterwards. Went back to the dentist, but he said it will come out by itself. I'm not sure it will before my fitting
Got dentures need a hardreline, Temp try reliner it. Good part no theeht issues anymore. Got my 5 years replacing not needed just a hard reline wil do think. Harderst part first months eating speaking after total healing its is not as bad to have dentures. Got a lot of bone Spurs, that time was no walk in the park
Hey buddy just came from dentist now they said I've got no bone loss at all, but I've got mild flammation of the gums early gingivitis, is it worth trying fight this or get them pulled before the bone loss happens or keep my teeth until it worsens?
Sometimes the dental gums irritation situation is mild enough that all you need to do is practice a better tooth cleaning routine. Brush throughly after every single meal and use a flouride enhanced mouthwash.
Yeah I’m paying about 30 thousand 19,000 out of pocket, but I’m getting implants. If I were only getting dentures it would have been free with my insurance
@@JustinBsDentureJourney yeah this is before I found out I could have gotten them done at a fraction of the price in Cancun. There is dental tourism there. The doctor has been performing these procedures for 20 years at fraction of what we pay in the U.S. It’s about greed and money here. Wish I would have done more research sooner before they got my money.
I'm 4 months into my immediate dentures and the teeth aren't centred. The front two top are a little to the side and same with the bottom. Do you know if they can fix that in a realignment?
I also can't bite down with my front. I have no bite force :( Are you eventually able to bite normally with your front? Like I just want to bite into a burger
