Studio TC6 was used for this special recording because the control rooms were all on the ground floor, unlike the rest of the other studios. This made it a very likeable studio for productions, especially for this special recording. Sadly TC6 is no more as of September 2017. Studios TC1, TC2 and TC3 have re-opened and are in use, these are the only studios which survived the redevelopment.

there was almost all of the As Time Goes By series there if I'm not wrong. I had so much fun watching those, sure do miss them. grateful for all the smiles, and it sure was a lovely gesture to his Grandma :)

Sadly Studio TC6 in the BBC Television Centre where this was made has now been demolished as of January 2017. Only Studios TC1, TC2 and TC3 were saved in the sale and redevelopment of Television Centre.

At least it made it worth the time of PBS stations in the 80's.

It was 1978. Queen Elizabeth II was then 52, not as old as she was when you wrote the comment.

7:24 - "He works very hard does Jim", yes he certainly did, to cover up the litany of abuse he committed. Oh how things were different in 1978, when Savile was regarded as a huge star.

I guess back then producers knew when to quit while they were ahead, instead of churning out episode after episode until the concept was no longer fresh, funny or entertaining in any way.

@therealcaldini I think it is the responsiblity of the viewers to refuse to watch the shite and then it wouldn't be made, unfortunately today people seem to be content to watch just about anything, so it is our fault for accepting it.

7:07 - Yes, every time we hear this name we wince. 1978 and by that time Savile's crimes were very high.

YES! Its such a shame that all the brilliant actors in this series should be in any way connected to that TALENTLESS PERVERT. The whole BBC stinks for not recognising these truly disgusting flaws in their employees. Talk about turning a blind eye I think that their eyes were closed! Only open to £ and $ signs

@@star_fossil Given you wrote this in 2021 or 2022, of course you're not the only one. It's not brave to say you recoil at the name of someone who everyone now knows was a paedophile, you know. It's just costless virtue signalling.

Yes, just watched this and another episode popped up, rather than part 2 .. I have seen the whole thing before, in fact I think it was on TV last Christmas. Worth seeing again though. the goof life was one of the best ever sitcoms .. sad ending though, when the house is vandalised .. i think i was crying when I first saw it in the 70s

I'd quite happily pay double my TV licence fee if the BBC were FREE to keep producing television of the quality of The Good Life. I'd even let the Queen have a bit of my money if she smiled like this all of the time (nowadays, she really should cheer up a bit). Stop Rupert Murdoch making Britain a shit-hole.
@Antpeople1
@Antpeople1 7 лет назад
The Queen is worth 30 trillion and how many million of Taxpayers money was spent revamping Windsor Castle?!!!URGH..... Bring back the quality of The Good Life. I am classed as homeless and can't afford to watch TV but it's now all brainwashing trash anyway, it makes me more suicidal. Am glad I don't have a TV. The Queen is a miserable Knight Of Malta- she doesn't need cheering up. So much power and thinks she is above the world of suffering that she even takes her own loo seat everywhere. Makes me sick
