I think Yuta becoming Gojo was insanely fitting for his characterization. Before we even saw Yuta in the main story (not including JJK 0), he was ALWAYS being compared to Gojo. Kenjaku does this several times, he tells Gojo to his face Yuta could NEVER be you. Yuta, being broken asf, doesn't really struggle with much besides the fact he will eventually need to become the next Satoru Gojo (as foreshadowed time and time again). When the times comes for him to confront his conflict, he LITERALLY becomes THE NEXT Satoru Gojo. And the most ironic part of the whole story so far imo is the fact that the man who said Yuta COULD NEVER be Gojo is the reason why Yuta was able to LITERALLY BECOME Gojo. 8:00 I heavily disagree with this point. People often ignore the actual build up to the question, which is the whole "My goals *are* crazy for *me*, but *you* could do it" point that Geto makes. In that moment, Geto proved that he was defined by more than his strength by pursuing his goals despite how hopeless it seemed. In that moment, Geto became a "monster" and in a way became stronger than he ever was. The point of this question, in my eyes, was this: "does your strength define you or do you define your strength?" Geto didn't let himself be defined by being weaker than Gojo and went for his goals. Which is why Gojo felt "behind" Geto. Gojo may have been faster, stronger...but his will was weaker than Geto's. That is, until he killed the higher-ups. Gojo says it himself in the chapter, he doesn't know if this is right. Gojo never let himself go like that. When he wanted to kill then way back when Yuji 'died', he decided against it for the same reason he didn't kill those followers in Hidden Inventory: It would have no meaning, since he was "powerless" to make people follow him after the fact. Geto would have killed them regardless, because that is what Geto would want. Gojo finally decided to follow his heart rather than "doing things within his own power". Until the day he killed the higher ups, Gojo was Gojo because he was the strongest. But after he finally did something that is outside of his ability, he is the strongest because he is Gojo.

You have to realize, they didn't inform yuji about this part either. We the readers know, but yuji is still in shock. Imagine the first thing yuji does might be yell at yuta lmao.

Respect for admitting how stupid it would be if Gojo returns after Yuta's 5 minutes are over, like yeah it would be cool to see Gojo return but if he does it by basically killing his own student in return it'd be borderline character assasination so I'd just rather see the man die in peace instead.

The only problem i had with this chapter is that Yuji was just starting to get the MC treatment, he was finally the eye of the storm and we were really liking it too. It was also getting very clear how Yuji could progress further, but no matter how hardly Gege tries to integrate Yuji and Todo in the next chapter (if he does), all eyes will be on Yuta/Gojo!

gojo is not gojo because he is the strongest, Sukuna has proved once and for all that gojo died as his own individual. In this chapter, Sukuna recognized immediately that the person who came back was yuta and complimented yuta specifically because of this audacious play. If gojo was defined by his power, then his power coming back would mean that gojo is back, but he isnt, thus answering the philosophy. Sukuna very clearly doesnt just respect gojo because of his power, in the first half of the fight, despite knowing full well what gojos power was, sukuna mocked him and underestimated him. This was until gojo started outsmarting sukuna which is when sukuna really began gaining respect for gojo. This means that the peak of jujutsu sorcery recognized gojo as an individual rather than just his power.

the thing to me is why are they doing this to Gojo and killing off Yuta when Yuji is gonna end up being the one killing Sukuna anyway? like they're doing all this just because of the asspull domain expansion Sukuna had ready which shouldn't have been possible in the first place (how can he gather cursed energy when being hit by 8 black flashes in a row). All this to have another Sukuna v Gojo domain clash that is gonna have the same result as before

In the same way Gege hated GOJO he also wanted to kill Yuji for for good when he was killed for 24h before but it was so unpopular so he let him live via Sukuna . Instead he wanted to make yuta to the main character make of that what you will. Gege always wins sukuna being unimpressed and bored is more or less verbatim what gege has said in interviews about what he himself think about yuji

Regarding the Sukuna meger point, Sukuna has always been portrayed as being an absolute hedonist who looks for the biggest fish on the cutting board and heads straigh for it. The merger is a supersized whale kaiju for him and potentially the greatest battle he'll ever have. I think it'd be stupid if he wasn't interested.

I think a lot of people are misinterpreting Shoko. Shoko wasn’t against it in the same way that Gojo wasn’t, they both didn’t think Gojo would lose. Shoko is not an expressive person, yet we still get two close up shots of her face when Yuta say’s to proceed with the plan as she’s resigning herself to having to do it

based take tbh i understand that it sort of makes sense in universe but even the fact that yuta gets to "shine" as gojo instead of yuji is infuriating. i understand the whole "whoa yuji is not the typical shonen protag" but COME ON he isnt really a protagonist to begin with! i binged the anime and then read onwards - to me it felt like once yuta was introduced that he was going to take yuji's spot (which i guess he did for a while) it just seems so off for yuta and other characters to get all the limelight and imo it makes most things yuji accomplishes feel incredibly forced simply because everyone else is actually doing stuff also gojo could have wiped the floor with sukuna if he didnt want to save megumi

as someone who enjoyed this chapter a lot *BUT* feels unneasy for what it means for the future of certain characters, I completely undestand the other side of the fandom who didnt like it

Good analysis and I agree with most of it. But as a member of the Shoko PR team, I do have a few things to say. I feel like this chapter is consistent with Shoko's character but doesn't contradict her caring for Gojo. Shoko has been shown to be a pretty nonchalant appearing character. Her reaction to Geto killing an entire village being a particularly telling moment about that imo. It makes sense to me that she wouldn't be too considerate of the moral implications of Yuta using Gojo's body despite her care for Gojo. There's also the fact that she's a medical professional who spends a lot of time around and interacting with corpses which I feel probably causes her to have a less sacred view of corpses than most people. I think don't think it's fair to say Shoko didn't care about Gojo considering the scenes we saw of her reaction to his fight with Sukuna and especially her scene about how she was a bit hurt that Gojo considered himself to have been left alone when Shoko was still there as his friend too.

It breaks my heart how the only people that actually give a fuck about Gojo were Yuji, Yuta and Geto? everyone else had to just "tolerate" him because he was literally the pinnacle of strength and peace in the JJK verse

Gojo dying and Yuta failling is probably the best outcome because it show cases that Gojo was strong because he was himself, and not because of what he was born with. That even with the power of Gojo, it wasn't the same because it wasn't Gojo behind it.

In defense of my wife Shoko specifically; nobody REALLY expected Gojo to lose so who cares about a "what if". And then he actually DID lose and she had a job to do. I disagree with 1:25… I feel like Shoko got snubbed him 261 😭. Not only is she barely given any screen time whatsoever, the little time she does get barely shows her character (Most of the characterization she has is from fan interpretation). From what we’ve seen in the anime and manga, we are shown that Geto, Gojo, and Shoko are close (even though most of the interactions we see are from the op). Without Shoko’s interference with Geto trying to run away, we would’ve never gotten the infamous KFC break up. I don’t know about you, but if she truly didn’t care I don’t think she would’ve called Gojo. (This can be viewed in different ways, but-When discussing Geto’s death she left the room in witch they were talking. Why? Maybe she couldn’t stomach the conversation, or an underlining reason(Idk). I’ve seen discord about this topic on twitter and I think people brought up some good topics, that I forgot about. 1. She quit smoking, only to smoke a whole pack during Sukuna & Gojo’s fight. (That girl was stressed) 2. (Maybe) she was nonchalant about the body switching because she didn’t think Gojo would lose. (Tbh I didn’t think he would lose either) 3. Shoko literally said “I was there all long, wasn’t I?” All of this evidence points out that Shoko truly does care for Gojo even if it’s rarely shown. Look I rlly don’t know what I’m talking about at the end of the day 🤷🏽‍♀️ these are just some observations I’ve made 🫡. (Sorry for any grammar mistakes)

If Yuta-Gojo loses to Sukuna it proves Gojo's character arc came full circle. He is proven as the strongest because hes Gojo, not just because of the six eyes and the limitless. However the pacing was a bit off, I wish this happened before the Todo stuff.

People love to bash Gege, but this is great writing. Yuta alone understands the burden of being the strongest.

Watch Yuta fumble this fight and the only ones left to face Plotkuna are Junpei and Maki's mother with her kitchen knife, that would be amazing writing. I heckin love gaygay's storytelling.

It's starting to feel like that Sukuna's so strong not because what's needed in the story but rather that Gege just prolonging the fight so he can utilize this plot points he had set up earlier in this fight.
