Han pasado más de 60 años de su partida y creo que ha sido el mejor de todos los tiempos, los actuales cuentan con los avances de la tecnología, que a el no le tocó vivir, cuando era adolescente era mi ídolo 💓
There was no one like him. Mario Lanza was amazing. This is an example of his incomparable ability to crossover from opera to popular music which he does so flawlessly, beautifully and with emotion and passion. For anyone who loves Lanza, it is worth reading a new, bestselling book about him: “ A KID FROM PHILADELPHIA, MARIO LANZA, THE VOICE OF THE POETS “It is a marvelous portrayal of the man, his talent, his love of his art and his warmth and why he continues to be considered among the greatest performers of all time.
Mario Lanza defied physics in ever such great grandeur and beauty of sound. There was honey and sweetness and that voice and yet it went three octaves during his career. There has been no one that has ever naturally presented a Tenors voice like he. Many vocal artists very well-known great in their own musical talents could not match the natural the energy and the authenticity of sound that Mario Lanza presented most of his career. That luscious sweetness that was so expressive and genuine a bel canto beautiful singing. Not even Caruso beniamino Gigli Franco Corelli could sing but the character of sound that was unique after human being could be beautiful in this manner and forum. There was such a unique overwhelming Beauty expression Dynamics and musicality. When he sung in a lovingly fashion of popular songs and light Italian please set standards in those particular categories that no other tenor has done or ever will to sound so melancholy without any thing depriving The Listener of that luscious quality he possessed amen
This performance is a wonderful example of the fantastic talent of Mario Lanza. He was amazing. He was simultaneously a great tenor, a marvelous recording artist, a global movie star and a highly sought after concert performer. A splendid book captures his talent, passion and love of his art: A KID FROM PHILADELPHIA, MARIO LANZA, THE VOICE OF THE POETS. It is a beautiful homage and should be read while listening to Mario sing. No one could sing like Lanza. He was unique and special.
In My Opinion, Mario Lanza dominated the American song category like no other tenor. Beautiful quality of voice, great interpretive feeling with clarity of tone and a great high C.
Sugarbist, a great music expert, whoever is trying here, M.L. On the American song - to minimize, and admired, a beautiful high C. Since I can only say the high C, is not everything, every great singer must bring it. For me the whole package is important and M. Lanza is untouchable, no one comes close to him. He was always like no other tenor, and that will not change. Sugerbist, M.L. Is world-wide, admired, while the light of the dead tenor legends (, Exception Pav, Caruso ) only in the home country is lit.
Thank you for the compliment. I stand by my statement that Lanza dominated the American song category like no other tenor. However, there's no comparison in the operatic repertoire, as Lanza did not have an operatic repertoire.
ursmue1937 Thank you for the compliment. Your recognition with the great Lanza and Aldo recognizing me as an expert is commendable. Lanza was not limited in his greatness as a tenor in the American songs, but was limited in the operatic world for NOT having a repertoire of complete operas. Caruso sang over 900 operatic performances at the Metropolitan Opera House with multiple encores with terrific reviews. Lanza sang ZERO operatic performances at the MET, but idiotic like you want to place Lanza on the same plateau which is an impossibility and delusional “ Wan-haft” I believe is the correct word in German”on your part. Take another deep breath on the crack pipe
Am sure the great Mario would have been given time and takes to reach those high Cs.I can hit High Cs but also require warm-ups!I have always adored the great Mario Lanza, and always will.
im a bit lost..so inform me of what happened in lanza world 1945;1950;1959;1972 or so as the vietnam war ended and a lanza returned to the united states..im van gogh amongst his own works as well as beethoven psst kin and friends ,and not to forget rachmaninoff most difficult piece.these arthritic fingers once mastered my half of mozarts collection as well and is how come populations present there then know me any day.i wasnt paying attention though bec i was preoccupied myself with worldly details which were a bit much after pearl harbor injuries of 1938.cheer up. my japanese friends get teary eyes each time they recall that event by the way.
A short video, recognition, the way Mario Lanza, can see you, by Vincent di Placido Title: Pappano on Lanza. Pappano explores every aspect of the art of great singing. Sir Antonio Pappano (music director of the Royal Opera House since 2002) explores the great roles and the greatest singers of the last hundred years through the prism of the main classical voice types - soprano, tenor, mezzo-soprano, baritone and bass. Through discussion, demonstrations and workshops, Pappano explores every aspect of the art of great singing.

THERE IS A FEW COMMENTS ABOUT THE SPONTANEOUS HIGH C IN THE SCENE IN "SERENADE " " THE AWFUL MAKERS FORCED HIM TO DUE IT. RISKING HIS VOCAL WELLBEING " OR WORDS TO THAT EFFECT " Being MARIO did this in 6 of his 8 films. Leaves me to believe it was MARIO'S idea. Please note that " Serenade was made at Warner Bros. The rest at MGM or distributed by them. Frankly , the high C outburst in "Midnight Kiss " and " Great CARUSO " was much better. Bashing Hollywood studios and there EFFECT on talent is in vogue. MARIO gave us his loyal fans a great legacy in film and I am grateful.
@@ursmue1937 "The Midnight Kiss " The Toast of New Orleans " The Great CARUSO " Because you're Mine" " The Student Prince" Serenade " The seven Hills of Rome " For the First Time ".. . " Student Prince " VOICE Only. NOT a bad achievement for ten years. He also had a hit " Coca cola " RADIO show, and Best selling albums from RCA. 80 CONCERT PERFORMANCES WITH GEORGE LONDON in a Trio . European CONCERT Tour. He wasn't blessed with good health unfortunately and DIED at age 38. He will be remembered as a great VOICE and talent. Ian KAYE

I think it was really disrespectful for the makers of 'Serenade' to demand Mario to sing high Cs on the spot like that with no warm up. It can't be good the voice. They treated him more like a circus act than the true artist that he was.
