Nothing can ever live up to that much hype, and when the publishers release appallingly broken games after that amount of time, it just teaches us all to be cynical. I try not to pay attention until games are imminent, although I admit, I have more than a vague interest in Stalker 2 and World War Z 2.

the halo infinite show was all in-engine footage until maybe the next day i think they showed actual multiplayer. still no updated footage of campaign. halo was whatever. halo is probably on a decline unless they prove me hella wrong later on.

As for the future of E3: I used to agree that it might be dead. But after seeing how many people are traveling and itching to go “somewhere” I think that there is a future for in person conferences. This past Memorial Day (US holiday) was the most traveled in a long time. I think that they will “try” to do an E3 or similar conference again when they can and that many many people will go because they can. Publishers will see this and either be there or will decide to be there the following year because of the turn out. If E3 is in person next year I will go. I think a lot of other people will too.

Elden Ring and Starfield look pretty cool, though I find it hard to get excited for games releasing on consoles that I potentially might not own for years. Not having a next gen console kinda feels like all my friends are at Disneyland while I’m at home doing homework, and they keep sending me videos showing how much fun they’re having. I didn’t think I was susceptible to FOMO, but I guess I am lol.

It makes no sense for publishers to attend, even virtually. Why would they want to compete with all the others, working to a deadline, when they can make announcements at a time of their own convenience and choosing, competing with no-one?

GRRM is not directly responsible for the shit ending of GoT. The HBO writers ran out of his content. I don't doubt they were true to the outline they had from GRRM, the overall plot is probably the same but I expect the writing (if he lives long enough to complete the series) will be vastly different.

This year was just telling me E3 is kind of pointless now. Studios either have their own streams to announce things or some their own conventions. For instance Bethesda why show of their new game and IP at an Xbox presentation being watched by people that may not even care about your studio when you can fully reveal it at Quakecon a place being attended and watched solely by fans of your games. Hell most European studios ignore E3 and just focus on Gamescom. Same with Japanese studios and TGS

E3 is pretty much over though. Even Xbox fanboys DF said they could have had demos around the press conference like - of all companies - Nintendo. Just a bunch of carrot dangling and no demos like E3 used to be until marketers ruined it with misleading trailers thinking only gullible kids and morons play games.

I honestly would of been fine with E3 (given i skipped GearBox, Take Two and some others) if Bandai gave us at least a bare-bones showcase of a few games to finish off E3 (was that the last one?). But nah, we got 1 game and alot of wasted time. I got say, I disagree on the "stay silent till the final 6 months" thing, I'd rather have updates, just so i know roughly what's happening (for example, I have no clue what's happening with Digimon Survive). Overall, got to say i enjoy watching the 2 Nintendos Direct (E3) Showcases, a nice pretty big selection of games that appealed to me. While I think they also did good, I don't really care much for Xbox games and I'll be honest, Elden Ring was interesting but probably only slightly more than other "dark souls-like" games.

BF2042 looked fun, Halo looked better but need to see more, Starfield might as well not been shown. Metroid, Advanced Wars and MH Stories 2 all looked great and are very exciting to me. Not a bad conference!

Ya Ralph has been focusing on his own channel Skillup which has been solid for updates and reviews, and he occasionally teams up here with Laymen, but not nearly as much as we’d want him to . ;)
