I would highly recommend getting the UC1 along with the UF1. I think the UF8 is only really necessary if you must have more faders.

Waddup Mutha Stickas!! yet another great review. However, I'm still stroking my Steinberg CC121 like Blofeld to stray into SSL territory right now, as impressive as the SSL 360 link functions. Nice one guys!!

G bus compressor knobs can't be used to control other plugins. That sucks. Would be nice to use attack for attack on comp plugins.

Doesn’t cause issues imo…you can assigning any knob on the rest of it to anything…but fair point 👍

What would the CPU drain be like if I wanted to control everything in the session with the UC1?

There’s virtually no CPU drain…it’s control mapper that controls the actual plugin. So the only CPU drain would come from the actual plug-in it’s controlling. Another plus side to this is now you can use that plug-in inside the SSLs 360 virtual consul.

The CS12 is not bad and will probably get better with a few more updates, but it's not in the same league as the UC1 with the 360 Link update. And if you have the UC1 and UF1 combo, that's another level all together.

@@ShoggyTechTv Well, I can‘t agree as the mapping on the 360 link is easy to do but relying on your memory - with the CS12 you can easily see what is mapped an where. And the CS12 is way cheaper as well. Nonetheless the UC1+UF1/8 combo is great as well 🙂

@@synaikido Well i have to agree that the CS12 is certainly good value for your money. I also had a few other gripes with the CS12 not having a dedicated jog/scrub wheel and too many two handed operations, but i'm sure some of these will be addressed with future updates. All in all i would say both the CS12 and the SSL 360 combo offer unrivalled performance at their different price levels. I settled for just the UF1 and the UC1 combo.

Wait, so even if I don't own the controller itself I can still use the link-plugin to control another plugin from the 360 surface? Does this show up in 360 as a regular channel, just as if I had a regular channel2? 😮 I mean that would be a wonderful thing even without having the UC1!! Like making your SSL a trident console!!😵‍💫 (Gotta contact Tunca from AnalogObsession to merge his TREQ and his latest Trident compressor FETCB into one channel plugin)

Yes you don't need the hardware. I use a touch screen monitor dedicated to 360. You can get hands on with each channel strip without needing the hardware. Works really well

This is brilliant, it works really well if you have a touch screen monitor. Dedicate the 360 app to the touch screen, it's just like mixing on a console, love it. Great work SSL

What do you think of the actual 360 software? I don't doubt its functionality, but having an extra layer of software between me and the DAW just puts me off. Because of this, I've been avoiding it and the controllers. Thoughts?

@@StudioLife101I wonder if SSL will transition that 360 software into some type of DAW. I could see them merging their hardware and software into an ecosystem. They seem to be doing that with their broadcast systems now.

360 combined with a touch screen monitor is like mixing on a console. Direct interaction no control surface hardware needed. 360 is now embedded in my workflow

True…but there’s not many au plugs that don’t also come in vst3 format…just reinstall if you didn’t install the vst3 version. Not found any on my system that don’t work yet.
