The first movie with running zombies was the ironically named City of the Walking Dead 1980... AKA Nightmare City.

Best zombie movie of all time. we get the combination of horror and humor first time. Zombies ran and talked, and the characters were fantastic, Erine Burt and Spider. we're my favorites

So a couple hometown details. I’m a Louisville, Kentucky Girl, as was, I believe, a producers wife. That’s how they wound up using Louisville as the town. Theres a weird little cemetery in the heart of town that was mismanaged for years. Buried coffins on top of coffins, and other messed up things. Bares a resemblance to the cemetery in the film. Although, this is probably just a coincidence. Another fun fact, Fort Knox is 45 minutes from here. Adding more depth to the story of the army having lost it in transit. And the emergency phone # on the canister is an actual landline exchange of the neighborhood I still reside in. I love all the familiar little details.

Along with all the other great things about this movie, having wailing zombies crawl out of their graves in a rainstorm is just so classic yet conspicuously absent from most other zombie films, i can only think of one other example in "The Dead Don't Die" where they come out of the cemetery (oh, and Thriller too!). There may be others, but not among the most popoular zombie flicks.

Yeah, there's so many iconic zombie tropes that people think of that come from this movie, but yeah when you really think about it there's not many that did it like Return! 😊

I like the idea of having different zombies with different abilities existing in the same world. Less rot = more sprinting ability. More rot = they mess you up worse because of the demented do0m or whatnot. 5:32 First time I watched this as a young teenager in the mid '90s, I just happen to get sick at the same time, so it was like the Deth-gas came out of the screen and infected me! 7:55 It's the Evil Dead 2 skull a couple years before Evil Dead 2 came out! Maybe that's what inspired the Evil Dead 2 skull from the Evil Dead 2 box art! 8:16 See?! Totally! 10:20 He's not the one with a mohawk.

The thing about this movie is it's a great, well written and acted movie made up to look like a B-movie. In many respects the writing is so tight you can't see it as a B-movie.

Defo in my Top 5 of all time! Like u guys I saw it when I was waaaay too young (9 or 10) and became obsessed with death and decay. It traumatised me for a good few years, now I adore it. Like u say, ALL the characters are brilliant, shame we couldn’t ave more n that the sequel was sooo shit. Great review gents 👍👊
