I paid full UK release day price and even at twenty odd quid worth every penny. I agree on my top five UHD discs bought last 2 years. Picture is gorgeous and I also have always rated this film above " Shawshank", Great cinematography and the cast it's amazing. Nice review I can't recommend this high enough either 👍🤙😃

You had me at "better than The Shawshank Redemption" :) Love both movies, but The Green Mile is just quite amazing on many levels and I think it is the slightly better of the two. What a pleasant surprise the first time I watched it back in high school. An intriguing emotional rollercoaster. Already pre-ordered a 4K steelbook. Thanks for the 4K review.

I agree with that Hot Take. Takes nothing away from Shawshank either. That scene in the end when Barry Pepper's character can't contain his emotions just wrecks me every time. Every actor delivers an outstanding performance even Mr. Bojangles. Pre-ordered this last month. Had to watch the review anyway 👍

Got the 4K collectors edition box set for this film. AMAZING PURCHASE the quality looks like it was made yesterday in 4K you would never guess in a million years that this was a 90s film looks like a 2020 film. Highly suggested this 4K release :)

This movie I think often gets overlooked because of the fact that Shawshank exists and this kind of has a similar premise. I also love Shawshank but I also think Green Mile is another standout as far as Stephen King adaptations. I'm a big King fan and even read the book before the movie came out. I have it on Blu Ray but I'm psyched that it turned out to be a great transfer. Will be picking it up when it comes out on Tuesday for sure!

I have a 4k review about this movie. I just bought it on 4k yesterday. It looks pretty damn good. My TV blew up while I was watching the movie. When I got to the part where that guy with the mouse get electrocuted my TV fried up while he was getting electrocuted. Gotta buy a new tv.

Yes, they did a great job at removing grain but not making it look like they're made of clay. It to be done to fit such a long movie on even a 100 GB disc. Video bit rate is only 51 mbps and it still takes up 88 GB.

One thing to note. According to the release your holding. WB is back to putting the slipcover back on and seems the packaging distribution problem has been resolved

My 4K movies are really dark when watching them compared to their blu ray versions; is this something to do with the HDR settings? Haven’t been able to find a video on RU-vid explaining how to fix this or set up your 4K tv so watching 4K disc isn’t so dark; seriously some movies it’s hard to see anything.

I’m not sold on the new colour grading. I would expect a wider colour gamut from a 4K not the opposite. It also looks way dimmer than the Blu-ray. Finally this is a movie that needs a social commentary nowadays about the racial stereotypes that are contained in the story.

No Jeff, Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining" WAS NOT a good adaptation of a Stephen King work. It was so bad, Stephen King himself adapted his book for a three-part miniseries for TNT. BECAUSE it was so poor an adaption. King said Kubrick's movie was visually a work of art, but it wasn't anything like his book. Hell, even "Maximum Overdrive" would probably be a better adaptation than Kubrick's "The Shining".
