Clarko 100% isn't the right coach for North. I don't want to sound ungrateful for what Clarko did for Hawthorn but many of us knew in the years leading up to him finally going that it was the best thing for the club moving forward as the game had moved past him. He made poor list management decisions bringing in guys for another tilt at a Premiership when we needed to face reality and start the rebuild (O'Meara, Mitchell, Wingard), he had us playing an defensive game style which wasn't pretty and didn't win many games, he stubbornly played guys out of position like Connor Nash who was headed for the delist pile. Sam Mitchell was a breathe of fresh air in comparison. He made the hard list management decisions, "a form of tanking" as Damo put it, in moving O'Meara and Mitchell on and as a result our midfield flourished with the likes of Worpel and Newcombe and driving the midfield. He has completely changed our game style to be more attacking and everthing coming together the recent results speak for themselves. He's playing guys to their strengths such as Nash mentioned before he also has been driving our midfield. And then there's been some astute recruiting. The difference between the two is night and day. I feel sorry for North fans because you've been sold a lemon.
& yet their president, the great Sonya Hood, was hosting victory laps when they signed Clarko..carrying on like Napoli when they signed Maradona in the 80s, not realising Clarko's best days were almost 10 years ago.. may as well have signed Sheeds, or Malthouse, or better yet Denis Pagan

So sick of people saying Clarkos been here for two years. He coached like 4 games last year. 2024 was his first full year and he can see the problems and what needs work. He’s turned a struggling club around before, I believe he can do it again.
This is where Damo is a flog. Last week he says the Saints winning games at the end of the year is meaningless and gives no real kudos to it. Then a team like North who doesn’t win games at the end of the year he hammers. So clearly winning games at the end of the year is not meaningless, seriously just bagging everything he can. Yes terrible loss by North but just spitting out contradicting statements every week.
With the amount of issues North has had not only in the last few years but just in 2024 it's amazing how many players have resigned. 2 season ending ankle injuries by round 3 or 4 and then Tarryn Thomas problem. The only big name player at North who hasn't resigned is LDU who is still contracted till the end of next season. Xerri - signed till 2029, Sheezel signed till 2030, Zurhaar 2029 and Larkey 2029. Wardlaw, McKercher and Duursma are contracted till 2026 with their first contracts. The core is there but the biggest issue is the age of the team and lack of experience.
We cant blame Clarko its not his fault. North is lucky he even took the job. North's recruiting has been bad for years but the real problem is the AFL who allows draft picks to refuse to play for teams like North, while allowing expansion teams like GWS to get endless A listers. North should have JHF, and Harley Reid right now. Whats the point of a draft if players can refuse to go to some clubs? I used to think it was North's fault but now I really think the AFL is deliberately killing North and they want them to die. The whole AFL system is rigged, the fixture is ridiculously unfair, and the game is being ruined by ridiculous rule changes and poor skills across the whole comp.
They’ll pop. Next year tipping is going to be a struggle because North will start to improve, west coast will still be terrible, and Richmond will be spooners for two years

North keep stepping on rakes though. Found a great player in Tarryn Thomas, he kept screwing over north’s trust with abhorrent behaviour. Wanted Daicos, couldn’t get him with father son rule. Took JHF, he sooked back to Adelaide. Missed out on Harley Reid by not tanking, missed out on Sam Darcy from father son rule. Couldn’t get Ashcroft because of father son rule. Hired the best coach of the last 20 years, then old hawthorn problems interrupted his coaching. They’ve been at the bottom or there abouts for about 5 years and still don’t have a number one pick in the team. And north will likely have to settle for pick 3 because once again, father son rule.
Hawks have had a much worse hand in the draft past 4 years most years they ended up with basically pick 7 or 8 even after finishing 3rd last and they have taken un wanted fringe players and turned them into near on all Australians it's culture and recruitment that's held north back
Father son is a great rule. Think of how Calsher feels playing for Hawthorn and feels. And Luke Hodge has 3 boys. One will play in backline and one will a forward and another in the guts.. I think rather son rule rules
The difference between the Hawthorn & North rebuilds is a sombre lesson in what happens when you gut your list too hard & too fast, and unfortunately Clarkson inherited this shot show. NMFC 2018-2024 is a lesson in all time administrative incompetence. I mean, what else do you expect from an AFL club that puts a sociologist in charge?

Father son and academies also mean north have never truly had access to the ACTUAL best talent in the past 5 years. Nick daicos was the real number 1, had to go with the risky jhf, couldn't get jef walker, Sam Darcy, ashcroft, ugly hagan the list goes on and on. Pretty sure those players would improve north's ability to compete but afl will deny the system they've created has led to this mess.

North should try to target Jack McCrae from the dogs as an experienced player if they dont have to give up much. They are interested in Wines from and Parker but I think McCrae would be a good fit at North for leadership.and hes an experienced finals player with the Dogs.

AFL has 2 to many teams in it, bottom 2 finishers should go back to the state comp for a season every year. would make the competition fairer and give them a chance to develop assuming they can win the VFL. then they come back into the AFL and 2 other teams drop out-relegated.
This is the worst idea I've heard trying to fix this issue 😂 You think they would improve if a lower leauge? You think players would want to stick around players reserves? How will they survive once they drop half their members because they're not playing in the top flight, against the best, in the best stadiums. If you want to relegate a club, we would probably need to have a population of around the UK's to have a talent pool big enough to allow that many clubs and players to even exist. How would you like it if your club bottomed out and everyone wanted to just get rid of you lol we need to stop talking about trashing a 100 year old club.

So Mitchell is using the same game plan that Clarko used at Hawthorn and he’s coach of the year lol. Go back to 2018 and just change the names, game plan is identical. Hawthorn s only advantage at this point over everyone else is fitness, they run and spread and run all day. Fitness matters most in the modern game. They are elite and that’s not a head coach attribute

Clarckson wasnt there last year too busy dealing with his old club, its not surprising they've had a backward step this year they lost their prized key backman letting everyone score on them. Its odd cornes says he knows that blues were injury affected and forgets pies and tiges were also on there it was an unexpectedly soft run on the back end for the hawks The blues last would flog west coast by similar margins last year then lose to competitive teams. North lost goater and CCJ in the first 2 games.... logue played 2 games for the year, wardlaw,.simpkin, sheezel at the end, fisher, combden all missed games. North's first 5 games were against grand finalist Brisbane, Geelong at Geelong, freo, preliminary finalist gws and preliminary finalist Carlton.... With the youngest list in the league here you go kids, take on the best of the best and good luck getting early form and continuity in your season.... Next year north's first 16 teams will all be against the top 8 teams.... twice....and all away games.... go on young guns, improve and show us what you got.

Love Duursma but definitely not showing his true talent enough yet needs to be put in next year is a 2 goal a game player regularly but his defence needs work worth the risk as he definitely has the ability K Dawson and Will Dawson with Comben down back Archer bring in Maley as well our defence will improve as we produce a lot more attack time to trade all our picks for good players who are not stars but fit into the style of play we are capable of attacking football
