This is by a far the best channel doing guitar reviews by a large margin. The fact that it has only now achieved 10k subs is borderline a crime! Congratulations on the milestone, if you guys keep up with this genuine aproach and atittude, I'd bet you'll achieve 100k during 2022! Cheers and have a great new year!!
Cheers Leandro! Thanks for those kind words that’s massively appreciated 🙏 wow I can’t even imagine 100K in 5 years but I’ll keep doing my nonsense and let’s enjoy this journey man! Happy New Year to you too! 😎👍
I love the fact that you keep the flag flying for the average guy by celebrating affordable guitars. Please keep up the great work and good luck for 2022.
My coolest guitar is a 1984 Japanese built Squier Telecaster that was a gift for achieving excellent A level grades back in 84, I attended the music store with the intention of buying a Fender Telecaster but after trying various instruments the salesman handed me the Squier which I had never heard of and I was so impressed by it I bought it there and then and still had enough money left for some Ibanez and Boss pedals to go with my WEM Dominator MKII, this Squier is a guitar I will never part with, I have tried various Fenders over the years but nothing that sounds as fat as my Squier
Thats the way to do it Andrew! I'm a novice in guitars, other than listening to them for 5+ decades. But with motorcycles, I'm very experienced. It's the same thing with bikes, buy the bike that will do the trick for the riding Style. (Same as that Fat tone producing Squire) Not the high end bike that gets all the craze at the moment. Ride it un-molested for thousands of miles with the money saved purchase all the insurance, safety gear and luggage needed. Most times still have money left for an actual trip.
That’s fantastic. I’ve got a 87 Squier Strat MIJ and it’s my favourite of almost 20 guitars. You may be interested to know there’s a video on YT with the Fender custom shop master builder and he says the best guitar he’s played is a 80s MIJ Squier. Hard to believe but true. Check it out.
Congratulations on 10K! I enjoy your relaxed and easygoing style, and look forward to see what you've got in store for next year. Roll on 100K!!! Wishing you all the best for the new year. Take care.
Well I let hope that 2022 will bring you to 100,000 subscribers, the word of mouth is been shared for all Guitar Gear heads like most of us. The Gretsch P90 streamliner with that much sustain is just incredible & I love it! Looking forward to a great new year 2022 and wishing you and everyone, A Happy and Prosperous New Year! 🎸🎸
I love your honesty and integrity. So many channels are focused upon either the high-end or low-end, whereas you seem attuned to finding quality... however that is defined. Congratulations and may your channel continue to grow.
Congrats on 10k mate! Your videos are the perfect balance of information, entertainment and advice. I do first impressions/ show and tell and refer anyone here for proper in detail reviews
These shows are like going over to your best friends house and ducking down to the basement and look at his guitars while the old ladies have coffee and talk upstairs. A comfortable place.
CONGRATS.....again, unbiased detail, humor, and facts.....I have based 2 purchases on your review, never listened to any one besides Trogs and Phil Mcnight, and your channel....your a gem of a channel and info....your genuiness just oozes thru....keep it up
the wife dosnt like.my growing collection LOL...I say the guitarista says it's good enough....but in all seriousness, even she likes your not trying to "sell" me a guitar....so she then let's me purchase, that alone is worth its weight my man ;) ;)
990,000 missing out. I love your stuff. How you knock about as you switch out parts yet when you finish it is near silk smooth and the explanation of the effect the changes made is full and very informative.
This has to be the number one channel to go to it you want a real truthful review and not in the pockets of manufactures . A very rare thing in RU-vid and long may you keep posting 🎸🎸
You’ve earned a new subscriber! I’ve watched your videos on a lot of Epi models like the gold top, the Riviera, 335, the SG and also Sire guitars as well! I’ve absolutely loved them so I’m here to stay. Good stuff Colin!
If i had a cool-wall for RU-vid channels, this one would be at the top. Thank you very much for your work and congratulations! I always enjoy your content
Your fowl incident rang "One white duck" by Jethro Tull bell in my head, which is sadly rather an acoustic piece... I was surprised by your Casino decision - at that time, it seemed to really got you... Conversely, the Ep 335 is no surprise, as I can still spell PTSD from that vivisection debacle 🙂 Happy New year, thanks for everything and please do carry on!
Cheers Jan! I mentioned a possible imbalance in my choices and I think that the Casino may need a rethink… you’re right I was smitten by it and still am. Happy New Year dude! 😎👍
No other channel I follow is as worthy of massive growth as is The Guitaristas. I look forward to every Friday due in part to your reviews. I have a "very very cool" guitar on order that should arrive next week! An Epiphone SG Custom in ebony finish will be my daily workhorse very soon. Thank you so much for helping me make an informed decision on that purchase. Happy New Year and I look forward to what you do over these next twelve months and can't wait to see what that subscriber number is a year from now!
Hey dude thanks as always for the incredible support and encouragement you've given me on this journey! Happy to hear you have the SG Custom on the way... very very cool AND centre stage in the thumbnail! And it's no 'show pony' so I hope you love it as much as I do. Happy New Year and Happy New Guitar! :)
Congrats on 10k! The weekly videos help me get my Friday started off the right way. I bought 3 guitars this year just from your reviews alone that I probably never would have considered and love them all. Here's to your next milestone, keep up the great work!
Cheers Jeremy!, wow if you have bought three guitars based on my reviews and you're still watching I will take that as a win! :) ... Not that I want to encourage or enable your guitar addiction of course, so remember just stop when it stops being fun!! ;) - hey I may include that as a warning at the top of my videos!
The Gibson Les Paul Standard is a much revered guitar and is sought after by many. It is a super cool guitar IMHO. It's the favorite of my collection. Great video btw. Your playing is so easy and melodic, I could listen to an entire album of your playing!
Colin, I really appreciate all of your time and effort in making these videos for us to view, I started watching these from the summer of 2021, it has always been informative and I have gotten a good laugh along the way. I agree that the Gretsch Streamliner belongs in the Very Very Cool category - it is one of my favorite videos. Congratulations on getting 10 K subscribers and as always I am looking forward to next weeks show. Thanks again.
Hey Tom, and likewise I really appreciate you taking the time to watch the videos and supporting the channel… I enjoy making these films and also get to handle some fabulous guitars so it’s a win win!! 😆👍
Congratulations on your subscriber level, I really enjoy your channel! I think the ratings (although some disagreement will occur) are better than other channels that just say "What do you think?". The Super Cool rating is a little difficult to decipher in relation to the the Very Cool, but hey, go for it. Your playing is great, and hope your duck is ok :) It's easy to see you love electric guitars, glad to see you enjoying yourself !
Cheers Peter! I think the duck will be ok, some superglue surgery required and I still need to locate a piece of missing beak but apart from that he's fine and I don't think anyone noticed :)
Nice one Colin, every time I watch this channel I get GAS! Think I'm going all out and buy myself a Gordon Smith just to be different, plus I've always wanted one, happy new year everyone.....
Cheers Henry! That would be a smart move…. Not only are they different but Gordon Smith make excellent guitars 🙌 I do have a GS1 but can’t find anything to compare it to yet! 😎👍
This is the best guitar channel on you tube now , I love how you don’t try and sell us shit that we don’t want , your reviews are a breath of fresh air , for those who don’t know ( me ) can you tell us a bit about yourself please
Thanks that's really appreciated!... Honestly I set out by thinking this is really not about me it's about the guitars and our shared love of them, but I appreciate the interest and will try to add a brief bit of blurb in the 'about' section later today. Cheers man and Happy New year!
Love this channel but it comes at a cost. I've bought three of the guitars that you've reviewed in the last year. The Riviera, the Epi LP Special, and the Epi SG Custom.
😆👍 but look at it this way… they were all quite affordable so I have probably saved you a fortune!… so perhaps time to spend some of that savings on a new guitar? 😜🤣👍
@@theguitaristas My eyes have been opened. In the last year I've discovered that Epiphone, D'Angelico, Sire, and Yamaha are all making outstanding guitars at a fraction of what I used to spend on a guitar, so now I can buy more. LoL. I have my eye on a Gretsch G5622, similar to the G2622.
Congratulations on the 10k Colin, hope 2022 will be an even better year for you! In 2021 I bought a Bullet Mustang and a Gibson Les Paul (the latter fulfilling a longtime dream). I've played the Mustang probably ten times as much :) very cool indeed!
Hey Gerald, great to hear from you and glad you found us! I think my demographic favours a more mature audience so I wouldn’t be surprised to learn you’re not the only octogenarian on here! You are very welcome! 😎👍
I bought two guitars in 2021, the Epiphone Les Paul Special in TV yellow and the Epiphone Les Paul Jr in Billie Joe flavour. This channel was “instrumental” in both decisions. Thanks for what you do Colin. You’re the proprietor of a very cool channel.
THE BEST CHANNEL ON THE TUBE. Keep it up Colin. I feel relaxed and like I’m sitting in the room with a buddy talkin guitars. Awesome man. If I received that Sire with a missing string and rusted strings I would have sent it back I think. That’s crazy.
That was an agreeable watch. It's getting a bit crowded though on that wall. You need a bigger wall. Or possibly smaller pictures. Hope you can keep buying loads of guitars for our enjoyment next year. Sure you'll be able to get your money back on the ones you decide to move on now the channel is established. Get a Reverb page up. Cheers Colin, all the best.
Congrats and Happy 2022!! A small suggestion for future Cool Walls is to come up with a set of criteria to objectively rate guitars and address the imbalances. In the wine world, we have 4 criteria to reach a conclusion of quality: 1. Balance | 2. Length | 3. Intensity | 4. Complexity If a wines ticks all 4 boxes, it's "outstanding". If it ticks 3, it's "very good". 2 ticks and its "good". Just 1 tick, it's "acceptable". 0 ticks and it's "poor". Something along these lines for an objective guitar rating might bring more clarity to future videos? Keep up the great work! 👍🏼
Thanks man I really appreciate the support! Nice idea there for a more scientific comparison... I am just wondering if my palate is 'mature' enough for such detail! :) Happy New Year and thanks again for comment! :)
Hello Colin, Watching this along with my morning coffee just now because I had just recently subbed your channel, very cool video! Currently I own only 1 Strat, 2 Tele’s ( One Fender and the other a Warmoth I put together ), 1 Les Paul Standard in Heritage Cherry burst I just purchased new this past December and 2 SG’s ( one Standard and one Tribute ). For me my SG’s are definitely my number 1’s with the Standard being a tad bit better even. I removed the circuit board wiring from both SG’s and installed Emerson prewired pots along with the bumblebee caps and they are both incredible sounding guitars. The feel is really why I reach for them more often than any of the others though, the ease of the higher frets, the weight is just perfect for me and I never get tired of either of them 😊 I see your an SG lover too and I can definitely understand why! Congratulations on your 10k subs, that’s fantastic 🤟
Congrats on your milestone! Well deserved! Still think the Gibson LP Special Tribute P90 should be Very Very Cool, only because I was persuaded by your video to get that exact guitar! My favorite by far.
Your channel always comes up on my recommended list, so I didn't realise I hadn't subscribed! Fixed. My wife bought me a Jag Vintage '62 re-issue in 2000. Been too "busy with work" to play it properly... Now retired though and while I love playing it, I started yearning for a simple and lightweight throwabout guitar. So, I saw your Squier Bullet Mustang Review and dropped a few hints... 'Santa' kindly obliged. Wants not to love? She's a keeper, and so is the Wife. Super Ducking Cooooool!!! And hey, it's your List - so have fun with it - just make sure that Mustang stays up there.....
Nice one Bob! Glad you went for that what a fantastic ‘couch guitar’ eh?… plus when you get the band back together you’ll be way cooler than your mates with their £10K Murphy lab les Paul’s! 😂😂👍 nice one man and yes your wife is officially super coooool too! 😎👍
That was a lot of fun! The sub count is testament to the consistency and quality of what you're putting out. I'd say this is absolutely up there with the absolute best uk guitar channels, it's grounded in the real world and it's not flogging anything. How refreshing is that? I'd like to wish the channel and you personally the very best of New Year wishes for 2022. Cheers, man.
Congratulations 🎉 on 10k subscribers , I have a feeling that’s only the first 10k of hundreds of thousands to come and I truly mean that. Awesome video as usual.
Ah thanks Ben that's really appreciated. I genuinely had forecast 1K subs by now so I have no idea where it will end up... hey just think of all the guitars I will be 'forced' to enjoy in the process! :)
I know I busted your chops a little earlier in the year over wearing the same shirt in every video but honestly I really like the channel, keep up the great work, shirt and all! 😉
😆 no worries at all… I actually have three I use these days (and they probably feature in this film 😎)… I am considering going mad and buying a couple more in the new year 🤣 Thanks for the support man happy new year!
That T7 is a beautiful surprise....very very cool. The Casino! My new favorite...up, up, up! Congratulations on 10k! next year it will be 100k! Have a Happy and safe New Year, Keep rockin' and reviewing! Thanks so much for your entertaining and educational comments. CHEERS!
Still really enjoying the channel, well done on 10,000. Looking forward to plenty more of the same in 22. Squire CV 69 thinline, Mine is great, just a suggestion. Cheers, happy new year.
Hi Mate, I'm indeed very glad, to have found your channel, it has been a pleasant weekly view, take care Colin, you're the best. Happy New year. Well deserved and lets grow to millions, so I can go to UK with you, to learn, improve and upgrade my chops with yours. Cheers.
All right All RIGHT! I'm finally convinced and I'm purchasing a SuperCooool Guitar! Thanks mate, for standing up for regular folk not able to afford super expensive guitars in order to have something we could still be proud to own & sound great!
Excellent 👌 I love the science behind the cool wall 😂 the formula anything SG + offset + it’s your show x by 3 ducks = winner winner chicken dinner , great video , looking forward to the next one, my Epiphone SG 61 Les Paul in white has been shipped today so hopefully I’ll have it by the weekend, happy new year and good health for 2022✌️
I bought a Squier CV 50's Jazzmaster after seeing your review, and I fell totally in love with it! If I were to only keep only one guitar, it would be the one, hands down.
Colin. 10K is only the beginning. Your channel belongs on the Super Super Cool category. I love your content, my wife hates it because you have helped me decide to buy 2 guitars from your reviews, the Epiphone 1959 Les Paul & the Lazarus Les Paul. Also bought a Sire S7 because of your reviews of the L7 & T7. And your playing out is fantastic. Thank you for the excellent and very hard, time consuming work that you do.
Ah thanks man that's really appreciated! Tell your wife she's lucky I focus on (relatively) affordable guitars and that she should be congratulating you on your good sense.. in fact it's time to spend some of that money you've saved on a new guitar I think! :) Happy New Year!
I'm primarily an acoustic player, so my coolest guitar is a 1989 LOWDEN O32C. My coolest electric is an Asher Guitars Redd Volkaert signature t-style model. Congratulations on 10K! I only recently found your channel, having searched for a better review of the Epiphone 1959. You certainly delivered! Ordered one with the Aged Southern Fade finish. Love it. Keep up the great work!
Cheers James, not much of an acoustic player myself and apart from a budget (but good) crafter I only have one which is a fantastic Gibson L50 from 1947. That guitar is far better then me! :) Hope you like the 1959.... I heard it again when I made this video and realise that I really need to find some more time to play it... it's great so enjoy! :)
Colin your channel is absolutely inspired. You give a warts and all review of the guitars without having any reason financially to big up any instrument. I love your playing and your style of presentation. Keep up the great work. Happy New Year and stay safe
Congratulations on the 10K milestone, your achievement is well-earned and well-deserved! You have created one of the best content-channels in this genre, anywhere on RU-vid! For my own proverbial wall of 'fame or shame' at or near the top would be a recent, limited-release Epiphone SG Custom with three Alnico Classic Pro pickups and maestro, in Classic White. This saw limited release in Canada and other countries (but not in the USA as I understand it?), as Epi model EISC3CWGM. Happy New Year to you and the rest of the subscribers, and here's to bigger and better in '22!!!
Thanks man that's appreciated! I don't think I've seen that model in the UK but if I do I will be on it like a shot! Hopefully some more great 'historic' releases coming from Epiphone next year... might have to start saving up now though! Happy New Year :)
@@theguitaristas Oh and I should have added that the placement of the 50's Epi Goldtop into just the "cool" bracket, is crazy!!! I've listened to the outro from that comparison film you did vs the Gibson standard, dozens of times. The tone is outrageously good!!!! Epiphone's Probuckers are crazy, IMHO of course! ;-)
I’ve only just started watching this video but wanted to pause and congratulate you Colin. The 10k subscribers validated the quality of content snd is testament to your natural, engaging presentation style, the quality of the videos themselves and the authenticity of your content. Here’s to 100k subscribers! Well done Colin.
Colin. Congratulations on having an awesome year. Looking forward to 2022 and more of your most informative vids. Cheers from Canada. PS this vid was great as usual.
Hi Colin, Congratulations - as I always stated before you deserve so much more subscribers! Really good work! Looking forward to every friday! BTW - NO new guitar until today ;-) Take care of you! Greetings from Germany!
Congratulations and may 2022 bring you nothing but happiness! I really enjoy your videos; and as you know, I bought the dab green Casino and enjoy playing that guitar. Cheers!
Congrats Colin on the milestone, I really hope you never stop, I look forward to your reviews each week. Personally I purchased 2 guitars you reviewed in 2021, the Bullet Mustang in Surf Green and the Epi LP Junior. Love ‘em both! I rented the Epi LP Special for a month but didn’t care for it, the Junior was so much better. Are you an acoustic guitar player as well? Cheers and all the best in 2022.
Hey Michael, happy new year mate! Thanks for the support and good to hear that a couple of those guitars found a home with you 😎👍 acoustics are really not my thing… for some reason they just don’t get my heart racing like an electric 🤷♂️
Congratulations on the 10K. Discovering your channel has definitely been one of the bright spots in 2021 for me. All the best for the New Year and I’m looking forward to lots more enjoyable content.
Congrats on your 10k subscribers. Always a fun start to the weekend seeing the videos pop up on Friday afternoons. I hold you entirely responsible for my latest purchase. Those nice people at Andertons managed to get me a Epiphone Les Paul Lazarus. Thought I would be waiting months, but picked it up yesterday after ordering 2 weeks ago. It was to be my Christmas present to myself, but I am now banned from playing it while it is "wrapped up" for my birthday in a couple of weeks. To be fair, my very understanding wife has given me some money towards it. Just have to play the others until it can come out of the case. All the best for the New Year. 👍
Nice one Paul!… you may have to wait a few week’s but on the plus side you can start deciding what you will buy with the money you have saved? It never ends! 😂👍 Happy New Year man 😎✌️
Great conversation starter! For my part I only disagreed with one of the standings. I believe the Epiphone 59 LP belongs in the very cool section, if for no other reason that it sounds as good as it does at 1/3 the price of of a Gibson LP STD. Cheers!
Excellent choices, I've got a gold schecter PT fastback for Xmas because of your channel and could not be happier. But it needs to be in the very cool section, Tele and gold what is not to like.
Hey Neil, ah yes I've still got mine and am in the process of changing the pots and wiring as they were still but iffy, but that's the only weakness (on mine at least) and it's a totally awesome guitar and I agree.... its a frigging Goldtop Telecaster!! :)
Thanks for another great video, I can see a lot of work went into preparing this. I have enjoyed these Fridays and seeing what you’ve been buying 😆. Happy New Year Colin! Looking forward to next year’s reviews !
