People always say Stevie Ray Vaughan kept the blues alive during the 80s, but George Thorogood was right there cranking out banger albums.
@Roosterboi21
@Roosterboi21 Год назад
Yeah I always seem to be drawn to George's sound more so than Stevie. Stevie was the child of the Kings (BB, Freddie, and Albert) and George just has that John Lee Hooker / Muddy Waters swagger that I live about the blues

Lot of Bo Diddley going on with George's sound, too.@@Roosterboi21

Love it. I worked at a music festival in the summers during high school. Headliners were supposed to go from 10-12, and the staff would pester them to finish if they finished past midnight. Out of about 50 bands that I saw, only George Thorogood really didn’t give a damn and played past 1 both times I saw him. This is good stuff to see as a thumb picking slide guy myself. Would love to have any one of those super old fender amps.

Hehe. Awesome. I have a feeling next year a lot of gear will be sold off to make ends meet so vintage gear prices may get doable.

George’s main influences were Hooker, Bo Diddley. And John Hammond Jr. George had Epiphone design that ES125 tc to his specs. That bell-like tone he gets is his slide and his fingers. Not sure of his amp settings but definitely a Fender. He described his finger picking like opening a door. Unique guy and a hell of a baseball player, great wrists.

Huge Gt fan. Georges original 125 is the sunburst one he calls Old Red. If you listen to old radio concerts from the 70's on youtube you can hear it. It had a real nasty sound. This is Gt using it in the 90's. He retired it from touring and uses the white and black epiphones. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ql9UBMZf_sE.html His tone today on Who Do You Love is weak compared to what it was. You can watch a live video from this month and see it. Your tone sounds like old GT when he was tearing it up..

I think it’s the fact that people aren’t willing to take that risk in order to be successful at playing music in a band. So they end up making excuses for themselves in order for them to make it seem like it’s not possible.

Great video! I don`t think that him hitting the guiatar hard is a result of his phisical activity. I believe it mostly due to him being heavily influenced by John Hammond. He did play really agressive solo acoustic blues and hit the top of the guitar with his palm just like George.Thorogood usually credits seeng Hammond play as the insparation for starting his musical career. + George talks about seeng Mick Jagger in movie Performance (1970) playing in a simular style. Sorry for bad english

Hey just thought I’d put this out, angus Youngs rock or bust tone (tour) was shown on premier guitar- jcm (800 I think) 3 band eq all on 3, volume 6 master volume 8, and of course green backs. And a Schaffer replica (don’t know the boost and gain settings).
