The Hacker Destroying a Franchise - Titanfall 2 

I've been able to play titan fall with no problems with bots or que times, just sometimes painful lag and the fact that I've never seen more than 150 people on at a time world wide. titan fall 2 just occasionally has severe ping problems. didn't know ddosing and bots were and are a problem for the game and community.

EA, Respawn destroyed it when they decided to keep it broken and unfinished.

Here's my theory, they somehow managed to get a unique system ID by exploiting the Anticheat software and are using that along with any other data they have to track them along the servers. I can't see how that would be possible without something like that.

But is there really nothing that we can do besides asking attention from respawn? If everyone puts on a VPN it doesn't help in the slightest I assume.

the second one, easily there are friefers and fucktards in all games... the fact that one person was able to do this and the home company just sat there with ZERO response is insane

Okay looking into this video more it's scarily similar this is to what happened to Team fortress 2 streamers around 2017, If you want to play games now it's all private servers or third party platforms with their own network of servers. This is the endgame of titanfall 2 if the devs don't pay attention and fight back.

Granted this is a lot more advanced whereas team fortress 2 is plagued by an open source script that can allow anyone to command an army of bots which is only limited by the power of their PC.

I’m so sorry, I never played for that long but I spent ages getting good and just this weekend I was playing with my brother to show him how good I got, and I was really enjoying it. The next thing I know, I’m blacklisted, my game kept crashing, ping went up into the regions of 3000, and it was unplayable. I'm no expert but as I understand it it's nigh impossible to run a hack of this level of sophistication without an inside connection, backdoor, or access to the source code of some kind, so if my understanding is correct it's not just likely but downright the only explanation.

It's a concept that red hat hackers and black hats use in the first few attempts, it's called social engineering also could be using man in the middle attacks. You just find an unguarded or lightly guarded area and implement threat actors to make your moves. Sometimes you are caught, like the twitter hacker, other times you become a member of the automotive industry working from a competitor for Volkswagen (they have mentioned they have been hacked multiple times over the years).

@@GodOfOrphans that's not entirely true, and there can be multiple ways to get a so called back door into a system like this, especially if you're as persistent as this hacker seems to be. The main issue I hold with this theory is that someone on the inside can do a lot more than just a simple DOS on streamers. I mean, what's the end goal there? If he's already scraping IPs or connection info, why not institute your own form of a an IP ban? You can just refuse a connection to a streamer and they'll never play again. Judging by the way the stryder backend seems to work, it's possible he has a way to intercept the communication stryder does between servers, and can worm his way from there, or it's possible he's making use of some exploits in libcurl, the library stryder uses for it's windows based servers. People would be surprised how easy it is to compromise systems when they aren't built correctly, and how hard it is to put the pieces back together once you've already been hacked.

So it is probably a former employee or they are doing it on purpose to get us to play apex or something else something new or will come out

Community server and modding tools are great and simply allow the work and time investment of game developers to keep on generating value indeterminately, as long as someone wants to play or build. I'll never understand why the industry moved away from such concepts.

I think it only exists to make the current user experience as streamlined and baked in as possible, so it's more "stable"; the irony of this is that any major downtime basically guarantees the game will stop generating any value because it becomes unplayable.

Considering the Respawn team were pretty vocal about wanting to get to Titanfall 3 and NOT work on Apex or Anthem (at least back in the day when they managed to leak some stuff), I suspect it's EA purposely sabotaging their own property in order to try keeping attention and engagement metrics down and justify more Apex nonsense.

Stuff like having access to company servers or accounts, having access to company private chat logs, and etc. Human error mixed with management inefficiency leads to a lot of these kinds of cases.

from what ive heard from some of the streamers that got hit, he got stomped on in the game and got mad or something like that

@Pelinal Whitestrake That is just a specific story of a specific exploit, hackers aren't super powerful beings capable of manipulating everything. The stories we hear about individual hackers are normally tech savvy people who randomly stumbled upon a vulnerability and took advantage of it. TF's problem is consecutive, precisely timed and purposefully destructive attacks. It does sound like corporate spionage because a rival company has the most to win from this.

You don't have to be smart to be a hacker. You download some things and understand how networking and cyber security functions and congrats, you're a hacker. You don't have to code or even understand most programming/networking language. Look at the entire madden community. First, Denial of Service attacks are indeed illegal in nearly every country. Second, the identity of the hacker or group is still unknown. Third, even if we did know who the perpetrator(s) were, Respawn would have a hell of a time trying to enforce American laws if they were outside America. It's just really difficult to find and bring hackers to justice.

That's also why from soft games' code is held together by spit and glue. Incompetence knows no bounds. There's an exploit in DS3 currently running rampant where people can execute scripts on your machine. Also setting you back into Ng or forward into Ng++ ... From soft doesn't care, because y'all are going to eat up the next shit they release, half assed, buggy and probably having cheaters ban lots of people day one.

@@changesforthebetter7172 respawn should be able to do something. Yes EA Is publisher. But respawn are the creators and still hold rights over the game.

The publisher has them on a contract saying what they can and cannot do. There's no way for us to decently speculate who's at fault. It might be EA, it might be Respawn, or a bit of both. Respawn (cough EA) is making bank with apex legends I think, and live services are just more inviting for profit on an investor's point of view.

@@TheWhoamaters publishing rights are different from intellectual rights. Ea owns respawn this is true. But that's doesnt mean ea owns the right to titanfall itself. It only owns the right to publish and distribution. Respawn itself owns the property and servers. Big daddy might not like respawn taking up time to fix the problem but In the end as long as respawn hits the deadlines for anything else ea has them working on there is nothing ea can legally do to prohibit respawn from actively working on the game. If that was the case ea would have definitly killed the game long ago

Simply not plausible since apex has its own cheater problem so it’s a inability to combat the problem period. They have ONE person that handles bans and it is wholly based off the player base sending clips to said person.

Honestly at this point it is possible, like at first it might just be "dead game lol, time to kill it more", but this is getting so bold its either a personal grudge or a game since it definitely isnt to gain anything (unless theyre gaining something by someone who actually has the motivation for it, but I doubt its that)

They definitely have the funds to find a counter to this and investigate who is doing it. But that messes with the net income of the company. The person doing this is just killing the community. EA doesnt care in the slightest.

It is, but sometimes I kind of wonder if companies like EA and others deliberately hire these hackers to remove players from a game they love to "play" and force them to "buy and participate" in a game they may not want to be involved in.

Edit: Example Windows 10, a constant friggen stream of updates which keep your computer perpetually occupied. They hire freelance hackers to invade a system and create a market by "updating" to allegedly keep you secure.

Depends on which segment you are looking at. 90% of triple A has become just another platform designed to take your money, but the indie market is booming rn imo. I think I made with Disco Elysium one of my best gaming experiences until now, in a genre I usually avoid.

@@chewbacca3269 Yeah somehow this game feels really special to me. I finished it right after the new version came out and I still think about it occasionally. If you are fine with a text heavy game definitely give it a shot. Even in longer sessions, all the reading never became tiresome for me because of the awesome writing and voice acting.
