I did something like that once in my life: playing Tribes game casually, got backstabbed, got salty and said to myself "I will destroy him and his whole tribe for this and I don't care they are top 3 tribe on server". Long story short: year later me and newfound friends destroyed said tribe completely :D Ahh... Determination can get you places.

Respawn's a part of EA. Of course they're suffering.

We all fucking knew this the moment they partnered with EA, right from the beginning. This is what EA does. 'The Studio Killer' Maybe things would have gone differently had TF1 not been console exclusive and better-received, but EA systematically targeted and killed them with TF2 by releasing it alongside BattleField 1, and giving all the marketing to that game, instead. It never had a chance, and EA then scooped up Respawn exactly 1 year later, and then we got just another Battle Royale game. No PR in the world can save them or be believed, now.

I don't think its like cancer I think its more like a necrotic limb. If its true that Respawn only has 1 or 2 people working on Titanfall then that must mean they see it as a lost cause

Hate to say it but the kinds of abuses in big companies that have been exposed are more important than any game. There’s something else that’s being focused on.

There hasn't been any leaks because there's nothing to leak. Respawn and EA don't find it worth it to fix it, but they don't want bad PR so they pull it off the shelves.

If Valve managed to find the guy that (indirectly) leaked their Half-Life 2 source code with the backing of their community, present-day Respawn and EA are even more likely to be successful if going through more capable avenues. That is, if they ever cared to begin with.

Anyway, OP, back hacking is illegal in the US but at least they should be able to track him back to his location IF he's not using VPNs or compromised systems as tunnels in countries his home-country doesn't have good law-enforcement ties to...basically they'd be better off fixing the hole than hunting down the sewer rats down in the tunnel...

I don't even play and =I= know this...just from them being part of EA and certain actions in this fiasco. But people don't want to see the obvious truth and patterns...so they get what they deserve.

@@ChazDragoon see, that's the problem. I can't speak for everyone from this community, but I can speak for myself. I loved this game. I still do. I love Titanfall 2. It was so incredibly unique and practically warranted its own subgenre of fps. I'll never be able to play another first person shooter without thinking it could be doing better, it could be more like the game I love. I wanted it to work. I wanted Respawn to save the game, and I would've done anything I could to do it. Unfortunately, it's harder to save a game than it is to destroy it

@@Axiarus I always wonder why you never find community servers in multiplayer games anymore. All matchmaking does is ensure that the game will have a shorter shelf life due to server costs and the like.

Titanfall 2 was one of my favorite fps games ever but I have to agree him hurting titanfall doesn’t matter because even though as much as I liked titanfall it was a dead game there were at most 1500 players and if I was lucky 2000 online players.

Jeanue would impersonate people he didn’t like and try to ruin their reputation. Due to how Titanfall’s naming works, PO358 would show up as P0358 in game. Abusing this, Jeanue impersonated many players.

I wouldn’t say that it takes skill or at least too much but hey neither does being decent at shooters or so I thought.

Apex strays way too far from Titanfall to get even close to filling any titan shaped hole. That doesn't mean it's impossible that they're still trying but it won't be the boon to Apex some think it. Any Titanfall fans who would like Apex are likely already playing it.

Disposing of Titanfall would probably also eliminate the criticism coming from its community. Instead of having to ignore it, it simply wouldn’t exist anymore since the games are no longer supported in any sense, and Respawn would be able to turn into another scam under EA’s thumb with those two legacy titles out of the picture. TF1’s gone now, so they’re already halfway there.

Cobberbob This part of it infuriates me to no end. While I'm of the opinion that the attack should never have happened (because, let's be real, it ultimately accomplished /nothing/ except aggravate the dev team), the Apex community whining over, what, a day at most? of being unable to consistently play their F2P game is literally nothing in comparison to months and years of servers being outright inaccessible to Respawn's paid-for landmark titles.

The fact that the tiny company that used to be Valve back in 2003/04 was able to track down the guy that leaked their Half-Life 2 source code all those years ago makes the present-day Respawn a laughingstock. The fact that Apex is the hottest thing on Respawn’s plate means it won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. They’re still trying to milk it for all it’s worth, as is EA tradition, which they can’t do for their older titles, since they’ve gone cold.

@@AlexKaneROTN apparently it was because he wasn't very good and people said he was shit, so he started hacking. I think he also had beef with Respawn for something but I can't remember. UE has done a ton of videos on it like he said, so he probably covered potential reasons.

Agree with you. Titanfall, being a product of EA... has pay to win mechanics such as a predatory grinding/unlock system where the "veteran players" have access to all the gear while a newer player is restricted just for the sake of not having "grind" enough (which can be bypassed by spending money). Titanfall also likely had Engagement Optimized Matchmaking (which is often falsely referred to as Skill Based Matchmaking or SBMM). As far as the hacker being so bad/unskilled, I have doubts. He could of just been beat down by toxic veterans abusing better gear on newer players (which nearly every PvP game has). So when I see hackers in a game like that (games with P2W, grinding, microtransactions, etc.), I really don't mind it. EA and other AAA shitface companies need a reckoning. The fact that EA/respawn does nothing about it? That's just the moldy cherry on top of the shit sundae. Games like Black Ops 2 on PC are full of hackers and even an unpatched RCE vulnerability which can be found on the NIST database website. Yet Activision does not even bother to patch the game and still sells it at full price on Steam. If the hacker could keep people from playing that shit, that would be great (as opposed to someone who is actually malicious and wants to... lets jut say... use the RCE vulnerability to install a keylogger, steal banking account info, and start using players PC's as a botnet.)

@@thorveim1174 Sadly that's not the worse part. Your brain doesn't know the difference between the two. If you do your best and win, you get dopamine. If you cheat you get the same. So every game turns into one of those tap games on your phone. Tap for a dose of dopamine. Scroll through social media, dopamine. and then we get unmotivated people roaming everywhere because whether they know it or not, they're a slave to the chemical, just looking for an easy way out everytime. Completing low skill tasks. Instead of taking on the stress and the hard work to get better. They are just weak-minded people that can't handle the stress of growing as a human being.

1 year later, so titanfall 2 base servers/north star are still kicking! Final fantasy 16 just got announced if you are still looking for a game to truly fill in a void! They are going full fun mode

Don't be that stupid... Titanfall 1 & 2 basically work on the same engine which explain why they both share the exact same flaws. This engine was new at the time and althought it works fairly well they achieved that by compromising on a lot of aspects when it came to security and client/server communication. The ins and out of this can't really be explained to someone without any development knowledge, but it's like a rally car, it's made to be extremely efficient, it goes fast and handle every road like a champ but leave it at the nearest parking lot and anyone can break in and rob said car. In fact, this is lazyness fueled by the aprehension that they wouldn't face that kind of issue coupled with the need to optimize ressources since they were a new studio. They made a quality game at the detriment of their entire server architecture.

The issue with TF1/2 were the vulnerabilities inherent to using a then-decade-old game engine renowned for its spaghetti code as a base and piling more spaghetti on top of it, without working out the flaws in said base's security. Assuming TF3 ever became a thing (which, given the current state of Respawn, would be better off /not/ existing), and that they literally do nothing different and continue to reuse Source as a base without learning from their previous errors, then yes, 3 will be dead in the water upon arrival.

Except this is a matchmaking issue handled by dedicated servers... it has nothing to do with peer to peer, and by the way, as far as i know multiplayer was handled by dedicated servers aswell so you'ld be entirely worng on that. Don't spread disinformation my dude.

I doubt it Titanfall 2 already had very few people working on it. Respawn was already ignoring TF2.

Cod 4 was garbage. The worst cod j history. Didn't even have campaign and it was more of the same futuristic crap.

Same here, I bought it a couple weeks ago before I knew about this and I'm so pissed off. The campaign was awesome but I want to play multiplayer more than anything, and it doesn't look like I'll be able to for the time being. EA and Respawn should get their shit together and fix the game if they want to keep selling it.
