The more she talked; the deeper the hole she dug for herself. The detectives have enormous restraint. I think she just love's to hear herself talk

These recordings are very valuable, because we can see the person Diane really is when she’s not getting her way and isn’t able to manipulate the people around her, the mask of her being a poor, innocent woman who is an amazing mother falls away completely.

I think they should have realized that they were never going to "break" her. It is decades later and she is still talking in determined circles of illogic. She is a cold stone.

Can’t wait! This case has always intrigued me. I would love to hear Detective Welsch update on his prospective of this case 40 years after this tape. I know it will never happen, but I would also like to hear from Knick, Charleen, Diane’s siblings and especially her children.

Craziness. I always thought maybe the film exaggerated. They are not shown correctly. But if you listen to it, they nailed it pretty well, almost taking it word for word. Anyone who hears this interrogation can no longer believe that she is innocent

You really have some great rare content. One piece of media I have always hoped to see in full is the crime re-enactment the police did with Diane and the car. I've seen short clips on news programs, but they're mostly silent except for the famous "ow, I hit my arm!" comment. Hope someday the whole video is unearthed.

I just finish Ann Rule “Small Sacrifices”, oh my! I never thought a person could be like this woman, never!

Shes very confident, however she is super child like...her verbiage is that of a 15 year old, if that!! No accountability...Ahe admitted she lied about her fathet molesting her...shes looking for excuses...and used her father as a scapegoat! However, I know a couple of people that have been molested as a child and they even despise Diane Downs and says shes crazy, one of them watched the movie with me and some interviews and even said.."Molestation is NEVER an excuse to do bad, because you still know right from wrong" ....

She’s so weird. She act likes she’s at a picnic or something. She’s not even upset. She’s more upset about them not believing her then making sure their doing everything they can to find the “Bushy Hair” stranger that actually looks like her in the sketch! At 24:16 she pretends to *gasp,* suddenly remembering something "important." But instead of falling for it, Kurt is furious at her stupid manipulation. Diane becomes furious her manipulation doesn't work. So by gum, she's taking her marbles and going home! 😢

Did the police check her hands/arms for powder burns from the gun????? You never hear of that at all. I mean, that would prove it 100% yet I have NEVER EVER heard they found powder burns on her hands/arms. I am no saying she is innocent but that would prove it. ALso years ago on our small private road by the lake where I grew up a man attacked me- which just didn't happen where I grew up NEVER, it was very safe there -- I don't want to go into it here in detail, but I was in the hospital EIGHT days and I am a total germ freak-I was freaking out because I hate hospitals. After a few days there, all of a sudden everything changed: the cops/investigators were saying there was no attacker and I could have done it to myself-????? I mean my head on the side was so battered it perforated my ear drum, blood all over the place debris in my temple area, it was horrid I had double vision for over a week, I was so nauseuous I couldn't move my eyes at all I had to keep them straight ahead at all times, I couldn't lay down I had to sleep sitting up or else I would get SO dizzy and throw up- I couldn't understand WHY they were insinuating this. This case made me think of that incident with me because maybe there WAS a man that stopped her. I man stopped me asking about a lost kitten of which I SAW the flyers on that road so I thought it was a man that lived in one of the side roads there. When DD said that about a man approached her car, maybe she thought he needed some assistance or something. She also inferred they weren't investigaing this person that she said approached her car or something to that affect, SAME with me, they told me after a couple of months to, in essence, leave them alone, stop asking about the investiagion and to this day 25 years later no one was charged even though I picked the man out of 66 photos in three different photos, and they were shocked I was able to do that --because he looked different in each of the three photos; (he WAS seen in that road talking to home owners who were friends of his a few weeks before I think it said), . SO that made me think about what she is saying here.

I’ll give her credit for being a fast talker and being able to talk circles around somebody at lightning speed. I find it remarkable that she has the audacity to tell the investigators that they art psychologist and cannot analyze the mind, calling one schizophrenic, knowing good well that she’s the crazy, nutcase!
