Not only is every episode in this series is incredible, but they also keep getting better. In the first episode when Nell returned to the house the porch light flashed twice. The shadows on Olivia's face are the same as the boarded-up windows on the house. The box marked eyes are used to fill the deflated eye cavities of a corpse. Shirley "has" to take care of Nell, she has to apologize to her for the wedding. Easter Egg: the book Theo is reading on the wall outside is The Lottery, another book written by Shirley Jackson. Shirley's character is named after Shirley Jackson.
What I love about this show is all of your confused questions will be answered in a satisfying manner. I have never seen any visual media tie up all those ends so well.
I've watched at least a dozen different channels react to this show (it's one of my all-time favorites so I love "experiencing it" with new people). Bravo for being one of the few who made the connection between the purple box the client brought with his mom's jewelry to the purple box Liv put the first dead kitten in. So many reactors miss it, so they're confused by the purple box "Liv" is holding in the morgue at the end.
@@RamblersInc I'm not positive of what the filmmaker's intention was, but I see the box as a metaphor for Shirley's guilt. I can't really explain is further without spoiling a reveal in Episode 10, but hopefully it will make sense when you finish the show.
Get ready, the show really starts to hit its stride in the next episode, and gets better from here on, which is incredible considering how good the first two episodes were. You intuited correctly, the first 5 episodes are centered around the 5 kids in descending order of age. Every scene of this show has relevance to the story, the writing is ridiculously good, not an ounce of unnecessary fat in the script. Can’t wait for the next one!!
This show is a masterpiece. I have still yet to find another one that matches the mixture of family drama and horror that this show served so beautifully.
Really enjoyed your reaction. You're definitely getting how the family has all be traumatized by events of Hill House but all in different ways. The show does such a great job of going back and forth from past to present, slowly revealing its many mysteries.
As you watch the episodes you´ll most likely notice there is a "theme" to each of them. Think about grief & loss & what comes with that. Good reaction :)
@@RamblersInc yes Depression is one of them. Encase you dont know, Its called the five stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
This show is a masterclass in storytelling, not just with the writing, acting, and directing, but the cinematography, editing, and sound design too. Definitely one of my all time favorites.
Great reaction, I look forward to your continued journey. As for the baby steps, once you finish the show it will seem appropriate because the show/story is so good that you forget how terrifying it was but it is very scary on first watch.
I'm starting to get that it's a sprinkle of scary mixed with some really traumatic experiences within a family....at least...I hope it's a sprinkle going forward
@@RamblersInc it's not a sprinkle. Episode 2 is probably the lightest it gets when it comes to scary. However, episode 2 is probably the weakest of the 10 episodes so while it is scarier, it is not just cheap scares. Some of these episodes coming up are nothing short of masterpieces and I am not kidding.
I love the show, but I kind of hate this episode because of the kittens, which may or may not have been sick. You cannot feed milk to kittens, you cannot feed them with a dropper, they must be fed every two or three hours, and it a very delicate task that cannot be trusted children. If not done properly, they can easily aspirate. If this wasn't fiction, they killed the kittens with this treatment. Yeah, and don't force kids to view a dead body when they've made their strong feelings against doing so clear.
