@@Drberg Say Doc, could you do an analysis of the "Mediterranean Diet", or the diet of certain parts of the Mediterranean Basin, such as Sardinia, Ikaria, Acciaroli? The MSM touts it as being the healthiest in the world, as attested by numerous, healthy centenarians there. Their diet shares certain similarities and differences with what you recommend. Also Nicoya, Costa Rica; Loma Linda, California; Okinawa, Japan; Bama, China; and other long-lived places.

Here are the 8 healthiest foods: 1. Red meat-Grass-fed, grass-finished beef is excellent for your health and is one of the highest sources of glutamine. 2. Wild-caught fatty fish-Salmon and other fatty fish are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. 3. Shellfish-Shrimp, clams, mussels, and other shellfish contain omega-3s, but they’re also a rich source of trace minerals. Oysters are one of the best sources of zinc. 4. Eggs-Choose organic pasture-raised eggs. 5. Fermented vegetables-Sauerkraut and kimchi are excellent sources of probiotics and vitamin C. 6. Leafy greens-Arugula, spinach, and high-quality lettuce contain folate, vitamin C, magnesium, and potassium. Consuming dairy with spinach can reduce oxalates. 7. Organ meats-Beef liver, cod liver, and other organ meats are rich in many vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals. 8. Herbs and spices-Garlic, onion, sage, thyme, sea salt, basil, and cinnamon all have unique properties and important health benefits. Thank you Dr Berg!😺👍

I bought hamburger with organ meat from U.S. Wellness meats, as well as their grass fed roasts. I hate to say this, but the meat often tasted rancid, so I stopped buying it. I bought from another company, I think the name was Slacker, or something like that, and had the same experience. Finding it hard to obtain healthy meat that tastes good. I've been buying some grass fed steaks from Walmart. Those seem to taste OK. But the other issue for me is cost. Why does it always have to be so dang expensive compared to the corn fed meat. As for the fatty fish, I cant' stand the taste. I absolutely hate the taste of fish, and loathe the smell even more. Had a friend when I was a teen, who was from Korea. I couldn't stand being at his house because it smelled like a fish market. The only one I can eat is tuna, as tuna salad, so taste is masked. I can understand why our food system became so unhealthy. Eating healthy just doesn't taste as good. Not even close. Like it or not, they corn feed the cows because it makes the meat taste better. And it just seems the better the food tastes, the less healthy it is.

@@leroyrussell8766it’s because we’re not supposed to eat meat I love dr beef but he really needs to stop being so meat bias it’s apparent. Vit b12- is in mushrooms and eggs vit d3- you can get from 30 minutes of sun and fatty acids DHA/EPA is in algae oil and eggs hemp seeds have the most complete protein per gram out of anything on earth. Those are the only 4 things you can even argue about and it could be found in non meat products he does not mention any of this you don’t need some complicated

@@lawrencetrujillo7365 We are in fact, designed to eat meat. We evolved doing so. What we aren't designed to do is eat 3 or 4 meals every single day, and especially not with snacks. Human growth hormone production begins around 20 hours into a fast. At the same time, your body begins eating the bad cells, also called folded proteins. If you do NOT fast on a regular basis, you WILL die early of a degenerative disease. Fasting is renewal. Modern convenience has ruined that. Another thing we are not designed to eat are processed foods. Something Vegans and Vegetarians tend to do.
@highfive2561
@highfive2561 5 месяцев назад
@@leroyrussell8766 Designed to eat meat, you claim? And someone who doesn't eat meat will not be able to live a healthy life ? Come to India and I will show you tens of millions of vegetarians over 100 years of age who are as fit and healthy as anyone can ever be and still do physical work the entire day at this age. These people have never eaten meat in their lives and fully thrive on a vegetarian diet which is also free from processed foods. I have been living with them here in India. I can see so many beliefs of yours are wrong regarding diet and also fasting. Fasting is indeed extremely good for the body and helps to keep the body away from so many diseases but claiming that one who doesn't fast will die early from degenerative diseases is incorrect. Degenerative diseases do not come from not fasting ( but fasting does help in preventing them) but due to a variety of reasons like stress you are living under( It is the biggest reason), your external environment, whether you regularly eat processed foods, etc. So many of my known old people who never fast are doing perfectly fine without any degenerative diseases because they live a care free life with a vegetarian diet free from processed foods. You need to reevaluate the beliefs that are there in your mind regarding diet and fasting.

@@leroyrussell8766 haha ok let me prove you wrong with some physiological facts. Please try and state any non anecdotal biological facts on why humans are omnivores I guarantee you can’t. 1: humans have IDENTICAL teeth to great apes actually humans are smaller and duller. All known great apes eat less than 3% meat look up the percentages before you say I’m lying… great apes have even sharper larger canines and molars than humans and they don’t eat meat. 2: carnivores and omnivores fully digest meat in 4 to 8 hours, in contrast humans fully digest meat in 2 to 3 days. 3: Carnivores and omnivores do not have digestive enzymes in their saliva, while herbivores and humans both have carbohydrate digestive enzymes. 4: Consider cats (carnivores) and dogs (omnivores) at meal time. They swallow their food whole, without chewing. But watch a rabbit or a deer (herbivore) eat, and it’s evident that extensive chewing takes place before swallowing, as with humans. 5: Stomach acidity in carnivores and omnivores has a pH of 1 or less, strong enough to kill pathogens in raw flesh. In contrast, stomach acidity of herbivores has a pH between 4 and 5 humans have a resting ph of 1.5 but when food is ingested it raises to 4.5. 6: Carnivores and omnivores stomachs make up 65 per cent of their digestive tract volume. In contrast, herbivores have a stomach size of less than 30 per cent. Human stomach capacity is even lower at 25 per cent. 7: The length of the small intestines in carnivores and omnivores is only three to six times their body length; in herbivores, it’s 10 to 12 times their body length to allow for adequate absorption of nutrients. Similarly, our intestinal length is 10 to 11 times. 8: In carnivores and omnivores, the colon is simple, short, and smooth. In herbivores, the colon is long, complex, and may be sacculated. Our colon is long and sacculated. 9: Carnivores and omnivores can detoxify vitamin A in their livers, while herbivores cannot. Neither can humans. I could keep going but I think I’ll stop there.

Eating cleaner and fasting from 6 or 7 pm to around 9 or 10 in the morning. It takes time. We walk and her Edema is gone. Doctor had her on a diuretic for the leg swelling, took her off of it right away. I feel the B vitamins, walking and hydration fixed the edema. We have been on your healthy keto since nov 2022, all we can say is wow! However we also decided to convert my mother(88) over to low carb healthy keto, and making sure she gets all the foods you recommend for people with kidney disease. As she was on so many meds to manage her dementia, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic kidney disease and other conditions we have eased her into it over a long period. Recently we finally got her to OMAD most of the time. She had her 3 monthly blood works and general checkup done recently and her long term sugar levels had improved again, despite the doc halving her diabetic meds 3 months ago, her kidney function improved again as well, the best on record. In addition recently she has had some faint like behaviour and the doc has now also halved her blood pressure meds after taking some measurements over a period of time. No sign of any slowing of her dementia, but no increase either. All in all, amazing results, all from life style & diet. I think you can add my mother to your success stories.

May be too soon to fully tell, but about two weeks ago I started getting some alarming “signals” from my chest telling me I may not have long left if I don’t start making some changes. So over the past couple weeks I’ve gone full speed into making as many healthy dietary changes as possible (with a lot of help from your and others’ channels) and I can honestly say the “signals” are becoming much less frequent and I feel generally better now than I did two weeks ago (and I dropped a few pounds pretty quickly too). It’s amazing what a clean diet can do for the body. Still have work to do in other areas of my health, but we’re getting there.

Healthiest foods if you are not overweight or ill: season fruits and vegetables, grown nearby. Ghee, egg yolks, meat that is from a butcher's, not from the supermarket and is not in a box or any container, or in any sausage or salami form. I eat vegetables and seeds and grasses. I guess that makes me a vegetarian. I just refine all my veggies through a machine first. We call that machine a "cow". I use smaller machines called "chickens" sometimes as well.

Dr. Eric Berg! I'm so grateful to you for opening my eyes to the world of nutrition, but being a vegetarian, sometimes I'm unable to extract & implement the full lesson of your videos. I'd love to see you incorporate vegetarian options in your videos. Thank you!

I cut out all red meats. Cows milk and now my gut is fantastic. I eat salmon steaks peppers broccoli spinach tofu nuts seeds chia seeds and basically plant food diet and feel better than i did 30years ago😊 You really are what you eat. Only plant based milk. Chicken only twice a week. Works great for me😊😊😊

Would you please do a video on food sensitivities, food intolerances, and food allergies; the differences between the three, how to figure out if you have one or more, and what foods you could eat instead that is comparable in nutrient content on this list of 8 if you cannot eat one of these key food categories? Thank you so much.

@Helenegardener I searched and watched a lot thank you. But I still didn't hear the answers about what to foods to substitute for certain categories (for me its dairy and eggs) until you have fasted enough and your allergies are gone. Let me know if you found that in one of his videos somewhere. Thanks again.🙂

Recently started eating lamb liver twice a week. Then after a few weeks I started becoming more and more anxious for no reason. And then I found out that lamb liver had a LOT of copper and that depletes my zinc. Took a zinc supplement and BOOM, all my anxiety was gone. Apparently copper overload WILL affect your mental health. There is a catch to everything, I guess.

my husband has been having gout flareups since spring time. I've watched a lot of your videos. We have eliminated the high purine foods and becoming more alkaline in his system with lemon water and buy certain foods. He is also taking quercetin. a lot of the meat you listed they say to avoid if you have gout. I'm just wondering if we get everything going in his system with the prebiotic alkaline based diet, can we re-introduce these foods in a portion quantity? I have learned so much about gout, and we are taking every step to avoid having to take the medication's.

Dr Berg - thanks for video - one question about beef - you mentioned it contains high levels of glutamine. I understand glutamine is an amino acid which is one of 2 substances that promote cancer growth (the other being glucose). Any thoughts on this? Professor Seyfried is clear from his research that cancer growth is exacerbated by glucose and glutamine. Thanks. Keep up the good work

It’s amazing that they get away with selling this as food. thanks Dr. berg for all the great information you share, you’re a great teacher😊

Just started doing Carnivore almost 2 weeks ago. Within a week all the bloated-ness went away. I am avoiding foods with oxalates, lectins, goitrogens, catechins, salicylates, and flavanoids for starters. No greens, no night shades like tomatoes, no fermented either. I agree with grass-fed beef, pasture-raised eggs with no soy or grain feed, wild caught salmon, onion & garlic (because they keep those pipes clean -- at least for me). I feel really good now and much better than when I made these 'menu' changes almost 2 weeks ago. I do not call it D-I-E-T because of the first 3 letters in that word.

Carnivore is an excellent elimination diet to reset & heal our guts. After 6 months you can try to add back another healthy food one at a time to see if you get an difficult inflammation response.
