Learn how to play craps with the Horseman, using a few of the more common variations.
Here, we'll take the basic Hedgeless Horseman and show you a few ways to play it with some live rolls so that you can see some of the different ways of opting out of the basic setup and turning the base strategy into something completely different as you go.
These can of course be done at the outset as your core way to play, or you can consider these as ways to adjust to the table.

Saw this video more than a year ago and have been playing it ever since. Just spent a week in Reno and a dealer taught me how to plug the hole when you lose your point and have 3 come bets up...but it's still your role. Place a lay bet to cover those 3 and bet a $10 on the pass line. Bring down the lay bet when you get a point and proceed to knock off the come bets. Worked well for me.

This is an excellent tutorial and added to my saved videos to watch again. I love how the HH has evolved into additional and transitional plays. 5 stars John, thank you very much.

Yep, it's really becoming a great base from which to branch into 15 directions now. I'm working on one with Greg (555) and Dantana that's a purely right side play that also has a lot of built-in options to it.

I have watched this video several times to really understand it. I have found it very resilient. I play low stakes online currently. By biggest problem is when I come into a long role and get eaten up by craps numbers in the Come.
@ProCraps
@ProCraps 9 месяцев назад
Super resilient, and it transitions very well to either side. I like it best, where the DP is 2:x or 3x the size of the come bets. Better early 7 returns.

Wow, thanks! That's an older one for sure, but still one of my go to ways to play. I get a little too aggressive with the come out wins sometimes, but I still roll this out when I first arrive at a table, waiting on my turn to shoot, and quite often, I'll hit my win goal before I even get the dice.

Wow,,,for some stupid reason,, I never really played this. Seen it and watched it play out,,but never played it. I freaking love this strategy. Trying it out on my table,,I really like the 4:1. If it's alright with you, I would like to make a video of me trying this out. Let me know. Thanks for all your hard work for the community.

Yeah, there's so many options. I don't think people see "The Horseman" through these different lenses. Everything thinks it's just 3 simple bets, but you can really "play" with it as you see fit.

I may be asking a stupid question but here it is… Why do you take down the lay bet in the 10? Why not keep it? Have 50 on don’t pass, 50 on lay bet and 2 come bets?
@ProCraps
@ProCraps 3 месяца назад
You certainly can. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of leaving naked lay bets out there too long to get picked off. I like that flat don't pass bet so much better.

Hedge the 10 lay with $5 on the hard 10. Or make it 44 and 6 if you want to keep it an even $50.

I'm just not a fan of hedging the come out with a lay. The math doesn't support it, nor does my luck. I have burned so many of those that I'm scarred :)

@ProCraps

I run this EVERY TIME I go to the casino. It's literally how I walk up to the tables and start getting my feet wet. I like it 2:1, where my DP is $20 or $25 and the come bets are $10. This thing gets my 10% to 20% goal 60% of the time before I ever touch the dice.

Hey John -- assuming I wish to use the 5-count on each new shooter, how can I play the Hedgeless Horseman? Since it is rare that the 5th count will be hitting the point, the puck will usually be "on", so I have to start with a Come bet rather than a Don't Pass bet.
@ProCraps
@ProCraps 6 месяцев назад
I'd start by recommending you never do a 5 count. Taking rolls off doesn't change your probability of losing, it just makes it take longer. Remember that 1 out 6 of the rolls you have any bets exposed to the 7, those bets will lose. So waiting 5 rolls and then going out there, you'll just lose on roll #30, which is roll #6 to you. It's all the same. Just play the game if you want to play the game. The math doesn't support that, not matter what Dom's book says ;) The horseman is literally designed to win on the 7 the entire way through and also catch a good run. If you go 2:1 (or 3:1 or 4:1) on the Don't with it, then even after you get the come bets all set, you're basically in a tie situation (potentially a win) on a 7 by roll 4, with the early 7's producing for you the whole way. If the shooter goes on a hot run, that's great the Come bets will win for you. It's got a disaster zone, of course, which I've landed on many times, but this one keeps you in the game and winning on the 70% of the rolls that are garbage.
@philmerkel1452

@@ProCraps thanks, John. I will definitely take that under advisement.
@thatguywiththoseglasses5355
Im still new to this. with that... In the beginning, why not play $5 on the horn, as well. or $2 on the Eleven? That covers your Dont Pass. Only asking cause you covering Big Red with the Lay on 10. So instead of being out $50 by 4:37 into the video, you are actually up. (i paused the video to say this).. back to the action
@ProCraps
@ProCraps Год назад
Thanks for chiming in! I've found over the years, and millions of roll simulations, that it's just best not to hedge. Ever. Especially with the 1 roll bets like the Yo or the Horn Remember that over time, they'll help you out based on probability Let's look at it as if things went according to the math, and only looking at the 11: 36 Come Out Rolls with a $2 yo. 2 of them, we lose $25, but win $30 for a net + $10 34 of them, we lose $2 for a net loss of $68 Your total for that sequence is - $58 If you don't do the bet on the 11, then you'll lose $25 on the Don't Pass twice for a net loss of $50 That $8 difference there really adds up over time. Imagine a weekend in Vegas where you play for 4 hours a day for 3 days at about 60 rolls an hour. That's approximately 960 rolls or so. You'll probably have 150 to 200 come out rolls in that time, which means you'll lose about $50 or $75 on those Yo bets. That's a meaningful number. So, unless my DP bet gets way up there (like I parlayed it to $200 or something) I always "go commando" and keep all my bets as clean as possible.

45:15 Wouldn't the better play to lock in the profits simply be to pull your don't pass down and head for the cashier? A Don't Pass bet is not a contract bet. You're free to pull it down any time unless you're the shooter, which you shouldn't be.
@ProCraps
@ProCraps 2 года назад
Yep. I talk about that option all the time. Mathematically, you shouldn't do it, but as a way to lock in your profit, if you're happy where you are, by all means!

@@ProCraps Another option I like is to place the don't number for the least amount possible to cover the don't. Get paid either way if it's you last number in action.

Instead of waiting to get 3come bets out, try 2 put bets and one come bet, or 3 put bets.
@ProCraps
@ProCraps Год назад
The point of this strategy isn’t really to get the come bets set, it’s to win on the early 7s. Put bets remove that advantage we have. If they get set then we’ll play them out aggressively. But honestly I use this on most shooters because they don’t make it past roll 3.
@spiderfly9684
@spiderfly9684 Год назад
good point, if i know the thrower then i try two put bets, wait 2 rolls and then i do a larger come bet and one $120 lay and hop the 7's.. i work the comp points. @@ProCraps

Watch em all. I think I have about 20 videos on the Horseman. So many options. I started as a way to win without caring about losing the come out because you’d make it up after. This one has great legs!
