@@Tony27654 But Israelis had no such right--it's a regulated privilege there (which I did not realize until after the heinous October attack*)--otherwise there would have been far fewer Israeli casualties. * From the 1970s forward, I thought I remembered numerous news reports of armed Israeli citizens, some even with Uzi SMGs, taking out terrorists who were in the act of committing atrocities. Either my memory is completely whack, or those citizens were active military, reservists, police and such. It works better in Switzerland where most of the males are reservists who have already served their mandatory military duty and have a government issued rifle and ammunition at home. Not surprisingly, those who want to disarm Americans conveniently overlook the Swiss example.
