Perhaps a thunder warrior? I know that after the great slaughter at Mount Arrat, some managed to get off of Terra. Maybe he was one of the survivors who escaped, received the life-saving genesplices to calm his genetic decay and manage to escape the Custodes? He might've been attacked and mauled by custodes and left for dead in the tunnel. I'm probably wrong tho.

ha I somehow aquired that model without haveing a clue what it was, being a fantacy player I pulled off the gun and found a halbered that fitted. Created a bad ass looking hero, although the lack of armor was an issue.

While you're theory might hold water you did left out how would Brock be able to lift let alone wield said custom made heavy stubber, now if he was a gang member from house Goliath I would think that makes sense however he is not as he lack both the physical characteristic seen in their gigantism and aggressive fighting style coppeled with their less then stellsr tactical approach to the situation at hand shown when he prepared an ambush for the thugs sent after him and him either having either or both the skills necesary to build and or acquire such a weapon, yet his model makes me think he might be for some reason a Catachan living in the underhive, physically that would make the most sens and intellectually it would also account for his weapon being gene locked.

I have a couple ratskin models for my small IG force (it has models from every sub-faction I could get my grubby little paws on)

I like the idea but I think it falls down regarding the heavy stubber. Even if it was gene locked the union could have still either sold it on or scrapped it and turned it into something useful (something not beyond a house famed for scavenging) the grip also looks more like one you’d find pinotal mounted on a tank. Can’t say what that means in regards to his origin, especially on a world that manufactures for the Astra militarum but maybe worth considering?
