The Big Shoe is one of Bakersfield’s most unique landmarks. It was built in 1947 by Chester Deschwanden and run by his family until 1992. After being closed for a decade, it reopened and is still giving new life to Bakersfield’s old shoes. Learn the history of this beloved local landmark!
