I learned in the Netflix documentary series *The Toys that Made Us* that the front office of Kenner was once located above the front office of Kroger, or something like that.
PatmanQC said he was going to do another channel and then BAM! He's breaking down the first "pre-order" action figure line. Love the way you did this video. You're one the best content creators on RU-vid.
I had the ewak battle wagon! I also have a ewak tree house play set, the leaves pop up to reveal the interior or you can push it down an use it to carry all your toys in it!
Congrats on your 2nd channel, can't wait for other toylines for you to talk about like Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man & The Masters of the Universe, Marvel Secret Wars toyline, Super Friends DC toyline & many more! 😃 And other contents of course 😉🙂
I still remember that fateful day in 1989 when, as a 14 year old, my Mother popped her head around my door and asked if I still want my Star Wars toys, without looking up from whatever I was doing, without giving it even just a few seconds thought, i just said no, it all went to a church jumble/yard sale, for nothing, vinyl caped Jawas, telescoping lightsabred figures, millennium falcon, snowspeeder, troop transporter, Darth Vader punch bag, bop bag I think it was called?. All sorts of stuff, Second dumbest decision i ever made, the first involves a woman, we don't need to go there.....
This is awesome Patman!!! You truly have the magic touch. Edit: You’ve got to tell us about George’s revenge on Kenner....I’m dying to hear the story!!
I think he's talking about in the mid 1990s when Kenner brought back the Star Wars action figure line. I'm sure Lucas made a new contract where he got more of the percentage than he did originally.
Wish I would have kept these toys in the box sealed when I was a kid. They would be worth a lot now! LOL! I sold my loose Star Wars Toys years ago. Thanx for the video!
Star Wars toys were the only thing I asked for during Christmas throughout the 80's (except for a C=64 and a GT Mach One). Loved the vid. Keep 'em coming. Sub'ed.
I Love Star Wars And Also KENNER PARKER BROTHERS And Finally a Cream of The Crop HASBRO Toy's Which Believe it or Not Hasbro Toy's Still Making Star Wars Toy's to This Day in The History of Toy's
I was seven when Star Wars came out. At that time I was playing with my Six Million Man collection and an original toy line called Micro-naughts? ( way before Transformers.) Before that it was G.I. Joe and of course MEGO action figures. Marvel and DC heroes! But my favorite was The Planet of Apes line. Obviously Kenner hit a home run with the 3 3/4" figures. But I've always try to imagine what MEGO what have done with this phenomenal franchise. ??? Great video! Well done! Thank you! * BTW.... If you got the Hoth playset you need your poor going up. Who wanted that over the ATAT. Lol?! That was Me .
Nicely done coverage of the history of Star Wars Kenner line. I still remember being a small kid back then in Rite Aid of all stores, and even they had new Return of the Jedi figures which I bought on the spot. I remember it was Logray Ewok and Leia Boussh with face mask. Great figures, thanks!
I will happily subscribe to this channel. PatmanQC does amazing work on his video game channel. I am very much looking forward to his expanded scope of retro goodness here! Keep 'em coming PatmanQC!
Hello, first time viewer here. The algorithm sent your video my way. I enjoyed your video because it was well detailed but not over detailed. -The Disneyland Neighbor
Other than video games, action figures are tied with what I like to collect. I'm definitely for the most part a sealed and authentic collector but over the years I found a lot of loose figures as well. I've have been a huge fan of star wars since I was a kid but didn't have a whole bunch of the older figures, a few here and there. Amazing job with the retrospective video Pat! I look forward to other figure lines you look into to. 👊
I went through a phase where I kept everything in the box but later on I had to display them on the shelves so I let them breathe. LOL thanks for the nice words
Awesome video man I still have a lot of my Star Wars figures from the 80s and my older cousins gave me their figures from the the 70s some in better shape than others but thanks for doing this video this really takes me back to when I was a kid.
very nice. this brought back A LOT of memories. I had the Besbin World micro playset and the full size AT- AT. honesty, the most hours I logged in playing was perhaps with the original Cantina. so much fun.😊
Had the death star playset with the trash compactor. I remember the green compactor monster and the foam pieces the most. Also had the canteen set and remember they had these two places to put action figure. One you would put on a peg (hole in foot of action figure) and you could twist it, causing a button to pop up in another place that had another action figure on it, that would simulate them being shot and falling down. One thing I liked about the AT-AT was the grappling hooks that came with them..
Yes, I had the death star as well but got it as garage sale as a kid so the foam pieces were missing. I ended up crumpling pieces of newspaper and using that instead LOL completely forgot about that until just this moment :-)
I still have quite a bit from that original series. I have the first 3 waves almost complete (minus IG88), the old display stand from the mail away and a few others...
I still have the die cast mini for Lobot somewhere even though his paint’s a little chipped. Always made him dance to Stayin’ Alive thanks to his pose lol
Thank You PatmanQC For Doing a All New RU-vid Channel a RU-vid Spinoff Channel of PatmanQC History of Everything Retro I Hope You Do a History of My Little Pony Transformers Voltron ThunderCats Sailor Moon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Will Don't Forget Voltron Sailor Moon Transformers And Yes My Little Pony We're Released in Japan And Same Goes to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Amongst Other's The List Goes On Like a Never-Ending Story.
No lie that C-3-PO served uncountable missions on the family grill.... FRIGGAN LOVED charred plastic... Oh and the magnifying glass... He was a TROOPER....
Request: please take a look at 2 super underrated 80s toy lines: "dino riders" and "inhumanoids". How those never made it big is a mystery even Batman couldn't solve.
I love that the Droids cartoon can be once again watched! They added it and Ewoks to Disney+ earlier this year. They even have the two weird Ewok movies, including that one with 80s sexpot Wilford Brimley!
5:14 Of that classic line-up Han Solo always used to annoy me how big his hair was, looked a bit nerdy. Looking back the droids and Stormtrooper were really excellent renditions, though all were great figures in their own way. Great new channel Pat, I'll be sure to be a regular viewer.
I LIKE HOW THE B-WING FIGHTER HAS "LASER BATTLE SOUNDS". IN TODAYS LANGUAGE, IT WOULD HAVE TO SAY "MOLECULAR ION GENERATOR ENGINE CANNON WITH A NUCLEAR SLUG" ON IT
2:13 I thought the deal with Kenner was made in April of 77, just weeks before the movie came out? That's why they didn't have figures by Christmas of 77.
Here's my list of characters who should've had a figure (1978-85) Tarkin, Biggs, Owen and Beru, Wedge, rebel soldiers like the ones on Leia's ship, Veers, Canteen bartender (a no brainer for the canteen playset)
I started collecting in 2019, I grew up with the original trilogy but born around the same time Disney bought Star Wars, you forgot to include vlix in the droid's line, he's also one of the figures on the more valuable side.
The Best Toy Company's Ones On My List in My Opinion is Hasbro Toy's Takara Tomy Bandai Nintendo Konami Sega toy's SNK Capcom Toy's And Yes Two Toy's Company's Like Jakks Pacific Toy's And Finally Spin Master Toy's Are All The Best Toy Company's Ever in My Opinion On My List.
I loved the micro collections as well. Was it true the figures had lead in them? I had the carbonite chamber and I loved how it would spin around and make it seem Han had been frozen.
As a child I was very disappointed when I saw "Empire Strikes Back", 'cause the Wampa just roared instead of saying its own name over and over like in the commercial.
Anyway Keep Going And Keep Making More History Lesson of Retro Stuff's For Your All New RU-vid Channel Call PatmanQC The History of Everything Retro Like You Always Said You'll Be Glad You Did Especially Old School Nostalgia Retro Stuff's.
So he held two fingers out and said measure the distance. And that distance just happened to be exactly the scale being used for the Adventure People that they then used for the prototypes?
I remembered my cousin had the playmobile toys and those figures were probably around the same 3.75 inch scale, but I don't know if they came out before Star Wars or not.
I wonder when the Kenner-figures hit the stores in 1978. It´´s always says "spring 1978". but does anyone know what month ? And I don´t mean the mailaway-early bird-ifigures
THAT'S PRETTY FUNNY! THE DEATH STAR COMPACTOR SET HAS "STORMTROOPER FIRING" AND "STORMTROOPER ATTACKING" AT THE 13:00 MINUTE MARK, BUT NOWHERE DOES IT SAY STORM TROOPER AIMING. ALTHOUGH HE DOES LOOK LIKE HES AIMING IN THE FIGURINE, I DONT THINK IVE EVER SEEN A STORMTROOPER ACTUALLY AIM IN THE MOVIE.
1:44 I Know You Did The History of Kenner Stat Wars Toy's But Unfortunately You Forgot That Hasbro Toy's Company Still Making Money On Star Wars Toy's And Same Goes to LEGO Too Also Making Money On LEGO Star Wars Series Also Still to This Day.
