As a Jew who grew up in a left-wing Zionist family in Israel (but is anti-Zionist for almost two decades now), I must say that your videos on the topic are the most precise I've seen. Even down to pronouncing Hebrew names. Two more points; 1. All the Zionists mentioned in this video are common street names in Israel today. It's funny for me how I grew up not really knowing what was behind these names except for a general feel of "they were important people". 2. The Histadrut is a textbook example of a reactionary workers union. It's almost as if Lenin wrote his text on whether or not Communist should support such organizations based on the Histadrut 😂 Freedom for Palestine and Palestinians from the river to sea! 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸

However, The Zionist Jews will either be exiled, have their colonial project settlements permanently disbanded, or tried for crimes against humanity in a world court before the UN(United Nations) like the Nuremberg Trials from 1945-1947. The religious anti-Zionist Orthodox Jews believe and await for the future Jewish Messiah(King Mashiach or Mashiah-NOT Yeshua or Jesus) to establish the Israeli State in the future. To them, the 1948 establishment of the State of Israel was manmade and consider Zionism and the Zionist State of Israel now as a rebellion against God(Adonai, Elohim).

I cannot thank you enough. As a Palestinian refugee, I first learned my history through the oral recollections of my grandparents, and then through witnessing different Israeli wars. That's also how I learned about zionism (before growing up enough to read). I never thought I'd witness the day in which such well-researched content is out there challenging zionist narratives, not even last year, and especially through leftist analysis. I learned so much through this video too. Amazing work!

I got an off the ball question to ask u? I’ve seen some videos, read some stuff, and talked with a few people who lived in the USSR claiming a very intricate democratic process the Soviet union enjoyed? On the other hand, I grew up knowing some people that lived in the Soviet Union that claim it was very undemocratic and where the gov chose the candidates opposed to what the other people say of workplaces and local communities? Growing up in the states, frankly, you get the impression that a large majority of people don’t even know who the representatives or senators are, have absolutely no idea what’s going on in their local government, and really only come out to vote for POTUS? Just wondering on any insights if you think the Soviet Union was undemocratic, or if there was average people living there that were truly unaware of their political system?

It was effectively a meaningless vote when the people had: No freedom vote out their dictator No freedom to protest the Soviet Union. No freedom to legally emigrate from the Iron Curtain.

I'm glad you made the connection between Balfour in Ireland and Palestine. Our histories cross over at a good few points and so we have a deep deep affinity for one another. Balfour violently crushed Irish land reform, socialism, and republicanism, and signed away half of Palestine. It was said by the governor of Jerusalem in the thirties that their goal was to create a "little loyal Jewish Ulster [northern province of Ireland] in a sea of potentially hostile Arabism" when trying to partition Palestine for their own security advantages. They tried to do the same shit of skewing demographic majorities and spooking the powerful minority into thinking there was an impending genocide coming from the colonised people. Then you fast forward to labour unrest in the North where they unfurl Arabic banners to tell the crowd to disperse because the soldiers had just come from Palestine, or the Black and Tans going to Palestine, or the IRA and PLO training together in the 80s, or both countries striking in support of the ANC. Ireland is a country that NEVER protests but when I tell you the streets are flooded with people protesting for Palestine I am not fucking joking.

Ireland had in fact the largest European, per head of population, mass protests and local actions against water charges and water privatisation in 2014 - 2016 Of course to look at mainstream media or it's archive records you would never know this. And yes we have massive protests now for the Palestinian people and against the ethnic extirpation there ( not "cleansing", mark it well) and the genocidal actions of the occupation forces of Israel.

Nobody was allowed to move between the territory, fishermen weren't allowed to sail out past 1 nautical mile or else they'd be shot by a constant naval blockade, trade was blocked while there wasn't even active conflict, and remember that Gaza is a 200 km^2 strip of desert that barely has enough drinking water and can't grow any food. It was kept on life support through supply convoys of 200-ish aid trucks daily. And now, since October, not even 100 trucks have entered. If your goal is to snuff out a terrorist cell, why would you deliberately starve an entire population of 2.5 million? If world war 2 was treated the same way as this, then the allies would have been intentionally bombing german houses and hospitals while ignoring industrial and military targets, though a clear distinction is that nearly all germans during ww2 did genuinely support the nazis. If you don't think that this is a war of conquest, then tell me what Israel has been doing the past 80 years of slowly stealing villages around Gaza and in the West Bank

The Nationalism always eats the "socialism" in such movements, including in the Republic of Ireland, for most of the period since independence. "Labour must wait" becomes permanent, because of the political effects of the demobilisation of the working class. There's no socialism without anti-imperialism, and that's how I judge between left or progressive nationalisms and exclusively rightwing nationalisms: whether they are aimed at liberation from imperialism, or at enforcing it.

Marx, allow me to ask your viewers some nerdy historical questions?: Did Avraham Stern make a WRITTEN Hebrew translation of The Victory of Sinn Féin by PS O'Hegarty? If yes, was it a manuscript, or typescript, and was the translation ever published? If no, did Stern just read the book and talk about it in Hebrew to his co-conspirators? Or, did Stern's conversation about some account he read of the successful Irish independence campaign, get reported to British Inteelligence who might have assumed Victory of Sinn Féin was referred to? Yeah. I know even more horrible things have happened in the millennia of recorded history that we possess. The recency of this development and the fact that it continues to happen as Humanity grows ever more viscerally opposed to colonialism, and imperialism in general just makes this whole affair especially unpalatable to me.

Neocolony? Honestly it's one of the only countries still engaged in blatant 19th century style settler colonialism. Usually that term is used to describe nations kept in a subordinate position after the formal end of colonialism (American dominance over Haitian or Filipino politics, the French in West Africa today)

Damn the similarities between this and south africa is uncanny. As we speak there is a whites only town in south africa (orania) that boasts the fact that it only does white labour. At first I thought this was good as they seem to be against exploitation of black labour, but now after watching this Im a little bit worried. Much of the commercial land and economy still in the hands of a minority of white people and they have a good supportive relationship with israel.

Thank you for this. Im commenting to boost. But also to say that i come from a family thats jewish (anti-religious) and communist for generations, and i always just received it as a fact that israel was bad news from the start. Growing up it was easy to dislike israel based on the current events, and it was logical to fight them, but i regret not asking my grandfather why he was so critical (angry) from the beginnnig, because it was hard for me to find historical books that would give me an honest story. I was growing up in the rural US. It felt like the people who were opposed to israel were operating word-of-mouth, and all the published information leaned in favor. So I felt like i was faced with one of life’s great mysteries: one day israel appeared and began to do bad things while the world sang their praises. Its really RU-vid that began filling in the holes- at least for me - first came the videos, the video’s dropped the names to research, and the titles of the books etc. This particular video, and the one that cae before it, are exceptionally good. Its important work. Its not a topic thats too complicated, but it is complicated to unearth the topic because all the people involved did really good work of mystifying the information…. It’s almost like they knew that they were acting in bad faith.

Even if what you says is totally true, which I would take issue with, you can't deny that in the early days, there were thousands of idealist young socialist-Zionists who left their secure middle-class homes in Poland, Lithuania, Hungary, etc., to take on a near-spartan existence and did hard physical work in total sincerity, often bringing irrigation to desert areas (like the Negev) or draining malarial swamps.. They honestly believed in what they were doing, they weren't seeking war with the Arab population. In fact, many of them, like my now-deceased uncle (born 1920), believed in a bi-national Jewish-Arab state.

I as an Israeli jew found this video very informative and interesting but a problem I have with it is the sharp transition to modern day politics. The left in Israel is calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and have a stronger stance against settlement in the west bank. (if you are wondering in the left there is no question about settling Gaza, we're against it) so I don't really understand the sentence "continuing its left settler colonial legacy" p.s. some of the what I said about modern-day left in Israel might be outdated because the 7th of October massacre changed lots of peoples opinions
