Actually, the thing that Danny Elfman had common with Jack Skellington is that they both were tired of doing the thing they do all the time and long to do something else. For Jack is wanting to become Santa, yes, but for Danny he used to be in a New Wave Band called Oingo Boingo and he was a great singer and played a number of instruments including guitar and percussion but was longing for doing something else and became a film composer instead hence he wrote the music for most of Tim Burtons movies and did the themes for many TV-series including Batman the Animated Series and The Simpsons.

Also, Burton used a couple stop-motion effects in his first two live-action feature films: Pee-Wee's Big Adventure (Large Marge and the dinosaur nightmare) and Beetlejuice (Adam and Barbara's face morphing and Delia's sculptures moving).

Dove Nightingale i liked the LEGO movies from Warner animation group especially the LEGO ninjago movie because it’s very underrated. Sure, it has some flaws, but I enjoy the humor and my favorite part was when cole was all covered in mud and when he had mud on his face because the detail of the mud on him was amazing and I have a head canon that he loves to roll and play in the mud.

Some people get to work for Disney. And I'm all over here eating Ramen. :/ I'm not really complaining though. Ramen is good. I love Tim Burrton's style. If I had to make one critique, it would be that all of his main male characters are kind of Gary Stu's, or characters that are blatantly him in cartoon form. But the stories are usually so great I can overlook that.

A few years back I had the opportunity to see Tim Burton's art exhibition at LACMA. I still say it was the most amazing experiences I've ever had at an art show. Getting to see Burton's early work from his teen years, all the way to sketches made for Corpse Bride was a thrill. I'll always have respect for the man, even if he's made movies like Dark Shadows and CATCF. Great lookback Animat!

tim burton holds a dear place in my heart. my mom was going through her goth phase in the late 90's and had me in 2001. she raised me on beetle juice & the nightmare before christmas & edward scissorhands (she also told me we were vampires and i had a sign over my bed that said rip ariya but that's a story for a different time). i saw corpse bride in theaters when i was four & forced my mom to buy it on dvd. been obsessed even since

i love Tim Burton's style. he can make creepy characters, but still give them a personality and can make them relatable. and unlike other claymation like Gumby or Wallace and Gromit, i don't see lumps of clay or lifeless puppets, the characters he create seem real. they have personality, motives to their actions, and flaws, whereas other films just make their characters stereotypes or cookie cutter characters. giving characters flaws and motives, makes the characters likable and relatable. and even though his art seems dark and scary, it also feels friendly and welcoming. and i've always loved stop motion. it takes a crazy amount of time and patients, because not only is it tedious to constantly go back and forth moving each puppet inch by inch (i heard it takes over an hour just to make one frame of a claymation movie, which is just nuts!) but you also have to make the sets and puppets, and if you want the puppets to be more expressive, sometimes you have to make multiple puppets for one character, that means they have to look identical and you constantly have to switch out puppets, which probably takes a long time. it must take years to make a claymation movie but it's always worth it. and Tim Burton takes time and effort to make sure his movies are perfect, and not just slaps it all together carelessly. Tim Burton is crazy because of all the effort in his art and i adore him for that.

Can I just say that Big Fish is so damn underrated? I don't know anyone who's watched it in real life or...on the net? It's my favorite movie ever and it always brings on dem feels. Hell it helped me cope with the worst of my PTSD/BPD/Depression. Everytime it tries to kill me, that movie, Edward Bloom...the scenery, the writing, the music, all of it, just...makes me want to keep on going. I can't explain it or give it justice but dammit I love that movie.

I really don’t get why people don’t understand the morale of NBC, it’s one that a lot of people need to learn and be reminded of, beware of burn out, do something new and exciting even if it doesn’t work out, because in the end you’ll be better off emotionally than when you started

I just love Tim Burton! :) He's such a creative genius. I love most of his movies, but my favorite from him is The Nightmare Before Christmas. I love the art of that movie, and I'm a fan of it. I'm so lucky that I only live five hours away from Disneyland, I always love to spend my time over there, especially the holidays. I love the Haunted Mansion Holiday, I think it's better than the actual Haunted Mansion, and I love getting all of my Nightmare merchandise over at Disneyland. On October 31, 2013, I got to go to LA, and they were showing The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan theater for it's 20th anniversary. But they didn't show it in 3D, they showed it in 4D! :D They had in the theater: Christmas lights, pyrotechnics, real snow, and you can interact in movie like singing the songs. Downstairs in the theater, they also have the actual sets from the movie like: Halloween town hall center with the fountain, storyboards, and my favorite the spiral mountain. :) I really enjoyed myself and I'm happy for being a fan of Tim Burton. :D:D:D

I was about to mention that he also did the designs for Brad Bird's Family Dog, but you did that anyway when talking about the inspiration for Sparky's design. Either way, I love a lot of Tim Burton's works and it makes me wish he'd do more cartoons and animation. The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my favorite stop-motion films and the other two aren't half-bad either, though I might want to re-watch them again at some point.

Its just as if I´d say: The boy from The Rescuers Down Under is really Kristoff Who married Anna.Their daughter is princess Elena (The Black Cauldronand) her grandgrandson grew to become Louis (Meeet the Robbinsons) who built the future from Big Hero 6. Are just dumb things fangirls invent. However Jennifer Lee confirmed that Tangled and Frozen (only) are in the same Universe and time line. My older brother & I used to play "hide & seek" in a casket showroom when we were kids in the early 1960's, as sometimes our folks, who both owned an ambulance company, and were partners with a local mortuary, (this was normal back then, there weren't paramedics in those days & most mortuaries owned the local ambulance companies). And yes, that would seem to be a pretty messed up childhood to people now, but even in times that seems fairly modern to most in the 21st century, death was something that was just a part of our everyday world.

Despite liking hand-drawn animation better than any other animation type, I will say I like the story of Frankenweenie. Although I dislike the decision to make everything black and white, that does not stop me from liking the heart in that movie. When Victor is in a sad mood, it is somewhat had for me to hold back tears. Ultimately, all I want is for Victor to live a happy life again. It also helps that there are child actors voicing the children instead of adult impersonators. Needless to say, Frankenweenie is my favorite of Tim Burton's movies. I do appreciate The Nightmare Before Christmas for what it did for both the name of Stop Motion and Tim Burton's fame, but I can't enjoy it as a movie like I can Frankenweenie. Also, I have only seen Batman Begins and the Dark Knight, I have not seen any of Tim Burton's Batman movies or Corpse Bride. I may decide to someday, but I already know I am going to like Frankenweenie more.

+Woodenfan I'll admit that you are right that Hotel Transylvania was Sandler's best film in YEARS...but then again, you can make almost any more look good in comparison to Jack & Jill, Pixels, That's My Boy, Blended, both Grown Ups films and more. However, when you compare it to the other animated films at that time like ParaNorman and Frankenweenie, suddenly it doesn't look all that good, does it?
@Woodenfan

Just because I personally enjoyed it doesn't reflect on if a film/tv show is good or bad ;) For example, I may not be the biggest Steven Universe fan, but I won't deny that the show is good, very good. :) Overall, I'm going to keep watching, if I continue enjoying your content, I'll sub :D

+Woodenfan I do agree with you that Sandler is brilliant in Hotel Transylvania. He really captures that role of the poor dad in denial, struggling to face the fact his darling little girl is her own person, and that he has to let go to some degree. That said, an awesome performance from Sandler is not enough, in my eyes, to save Hotel Transylvania. It's not terrible, but, in my personal opinion, it was inferior to Frankenweenie.

Franken weenie is a love letter to Burton’s Childhood and can be considered a semi autobiography. He had lost his childhood family dog when he was a boy and had always wanted to resurrect him back to life like in Frankenstein. Not only that but a lot of the characters in the film are based on his childhood friends or people from his childhood with of course Victor himself being based off of Tim Burton and Colin Clive’s take on the character of Victor Frankenstein. The setting for the film is based off of the suburbs of Burbank that surrounded Tim Burton’s childhood (It also inspired the neighborhood in Edward Scissorhands) and the daily life of Victor was also based off of Tim’s antics such as making home movies with his friends and showing it off to them and his parents.

Funny that Danny Elfman was in a band that made a song that included a music video with stop motion skeletons, and then years later worked on a movie involving a stop motion skeleton.

Why do people keep calling Emilie from "Corps Bride" just "The Bride"?

Still she has a name and she tells it to Vincint only a few minutes after he got to the underworld.

9 is (not) a Tim Burton movie. It may have some influence, like how Martin Lindau who plays a rather large role in Burton's movies voices 2, 8 looks like Oogie Boogie, 6 looks like Tim Burton, but it had only been produced by him. The real Stitchpunk God is Shane Acker. Just wanted to let you guys know.

About Danny Elfman having things with common with Jack Skellington which made his job as composing and writing songs for The Nightmare Before Chrsitamas easy, on the audio comentary for the DVD/Blu-ray he were once a member of a band called Oingo-Boingo but got sick of it and wanted to compose film score instead which lead to his long career of making film music, not only for Nightmare but for other Tim Burton movies such as Batman, Beetlejuice, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Batman Returns, Mars Attacks and other movies and tv-series themes such as Peter Jackson's The Frighteners, Spider-Man, Batman the Animated series, The Simpsons, to name a few.

Yeah that theory doesn't pan out. The timeline do not add up, you'd have to reverse Frankenweenie & Corpse bride, then compensate for the jump from the 19th century to the 1970s.

The funny thing is, growing up, I'v never really been a big Tim Burton fan. I'v never really liked his movies beacuse I'v always thought they would be too scary and would freak me out when I was younger. However, It wasn't until recently when I saw The Nightmare Before Christmas I'v loved him ever sense! XD Now The Nightmare Before Christmas is my fav movie of all time! I'v also loved Tim ever sense too! LOL
