An empty Her Majesty's Theatre, where The Phantom of the Opera should be and where The Phantom of the Opera will be, if I've got anything to do with it. - ALW
I have see Phantom at least 30 times ..my daughter has seen it 22 times(she's 19 yrs old)...and is absolutely devastated...we hope and pray that phantom will rise again..
I’ve come so many times (nearly 20 times) from Italy to London for the Phantom, including the 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall, and seeing the empty theater makes me very sad. I hope this wonderful musical can return to the scene as soon as possible. Long live the musical theatre, to Phantom and to his father Andrew Lloyd Webber.
ANDREW, I told you my story over on your video of your POTO medley. I have never been able to see the show and nearly stole my Mom's jewels to pull off what I already explained to yehat happened in '88, when y'all came to Broadway. I'd love to see it in either HMT or The Majestic. My resources have always been rather skin, so keep yr fingers crossed that's it's not another 34 yrs before I can make it. 😞😢 Keep yourself safe and well during our crisis and I look forward to everything! Phlorida Phantom Phan, 😍💘
Great that the theater and sets are being refurbished after 30+ years. What better time than now for that! Also so glad the original production will continue on. I really think that the original production is the best. Just magical. Stay safe!
I got to watch Phantom June of last year!❤️ An absolute blessing! It was the greatest experience I’ve ever had!!!🥺❤️ Unbelievably grateful for you and the arts! You all deserve SO much better🥺
I got to see the show just this year it was mind blowing.. my hats off to all the people both on stage and behind the scene who make this musical so captivating
Thank you sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. For showroom was inside this wonderful theatres me like you just love the interiors of old theatres. There is something special about them that makes you feel good. Especially when the safety curtain goes up and the curtains are drawn back with the orchestra playing that is all part of the experience of visiting the theatre for me
I cannot WAIT to see this PHENOMENAL production again!!!! Have seen it many times. Plan to see it MANY more. Counting down the days until it opens again..........
Guess What. I've Can't Wait To Go And See Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom Of The Opera Returns To London's Wonderful Her Majesty's Theatre In London's Glittering West End This Year On July 21st 2021 In Time For The Show's 35th Anniversary. Wish Me Luck. Thanks Mate. X
Yeah, it's a terrible world that we're living in at this present time Andrew. I've worked in the theatre, in the orchestra/band area, both as a Musical Accompanist and also as a Musical Director and Conductor of different types of shows. I do know how much work goes into musicals and plays, especially when you're doing performances. Even with rehearsals, these can take months of rehearsing before starting the performances. This is a beautiful theatre, just waiting for rehearsals and performances to start happening again. When they do start, enjoy them! I wish you well, and all people involved with the theatre there in the UK. I've been a great supporter and fan of your musicals that you have written Andrew. One year, I remember being in the UK on holidays, and while I was there, I remember going to the West End Theatre to see one of your musicals. It was called: "Starlight Express". Not knowing what the musical was actually all about at that time, I quickly realised that it was about Trains. I also quickly realised that it was all done on roller skates. The actors were skating throughout the whole theatre = stage, on platforms throughout the audience areas. One of those areas was right behind me and my parents and sister. What a show Starlight Express was. I personally, was very impressed with this show, and I would just love to see it again, but with me living here in Australia, that will be difficult.
I've seen Phantom twice on tour (the original US one), and it's always been a dream of mine to see it where it began at Her Majesty's Theatre. It's just so terribly sad to see the toll the pandemic has taken on the beautiful art of live theatre. :( I look forward to the time when it can be experienced again.
Beautiful theatre For a beautiful show. The songs, the actors, the singing, the production, the composition.............truly amazing. Cant wait to see the show when it plays. Is this the show with Sierra Boggess and Ramin karimloo, Mr.Webber? They are both great at what they do,and Ramin is definitely my favourite phantom. And Sierra and Sarah Brightman are my favourite Christine's. Have a great day everyone and stay safe!
I'm pretty sure it is planned that Ben crawford will be playing the phantom when the majestic theatre will be open, not sure about Christine, but it's most likely they'll just recast the entire thing
I am so glad it is playing once more. I stood outside this theater the first season in 1986 a young girl from Houston not able to buy a ticket due to being sold-out for 2 yrs. I looked up and said I would come back and see it. I am fulfilling my bucket list this fall for my one full day in London. Thankful, grateful it will be playing to experience it in the original theater. Dream coming true.
I was blessed that before quarantine hit here in February I had a ticket to see Jesus Christ Superstar at TPAC, and then when the day of my performance was to be, quarantined were becoming more and more a thing here in the USA. I miss live theatre.
Such a beautiful theater! Thank you Lloyd Weber for taking time to show the theater and explain the changes to be made. I'm sure your wonderful music will be included in the next, Phantom of the Opera. ❤🎼🎹🎶
I was fortunate to see the original cast in The Phantom and enjoyed it immensely ; especially when the light fitting came crashing down just after the start. Sitting only a few rows back, in the stalls it really made us jump. About eight years ago, I met a man who had claimed to be musical director ofthe show , for a period later on. He said that later versions of the Phantom had a much lighter chandelier on safety grounds. I wonder if that was true.
This is wonderful to see. It's just like in '86. These are the bare-bones of the theater. It's so cool! Will Phantom be streamed when it comes back like with the 25th anniversary performance?
I hope I get to be a part of the production when it comes back! Andrew this is a touching video it made me cry as well just seeing how empty it is and you're absolutely right, Theater is a huge thing with so many people who help bring it to life, way better than setting up a movie on a projector screen, this is live theater and that's my life too. I hope someday I can be Christine on that stage and give the audience and experience they can treasure forever.
I have experienced the bliss of the Phantom while seated in this majestic theater. I consider it to be among some of the most fulfilling evenings that I have ever lived.
I agree dear Andrew. Must open the theatres. Such joy it brings to all ages. Hope they will open. Shut all the Pubs. Going back to Victorian times. Too many heavy drinkers. Thoughts for you. Thank you for sharing. Take care love Janet xx
Saw POTO in NYC many years ago - mesmerized then and STILL all these years later at the power and moving experience of the theatre. Greatest show I think I EVER got to see and experience. Cheers Sir Andrew. We feel your disappointment but look forward to the joy of its resurgance in its time.
I agree totaly its so sad not having performances and im so glad I saw phanrom in Singapore the phantom of the opera was there when I saw the show it reminds me how lucky we have such amazing talent god dam the government tell them off they so don't realise how the shows and music is incredibale even coustumes I hope the phantom is still coming back because as a audience girl I loved evrey bit of it when I was in Singapore and mabey I'll see the show aging
Saw it two day ago for the first time since reopening and loved it just as much even with the changes. Only sad thing was the smaller orchestra. Andrew's incredible music lacked the power and punch it used to have and that it so deserves. But I will go again.
when I am 16 I am not going to college I am going straight to either London or maybe be in the original cast of the Broadway revival of phantom of the opera and hold the title of being the youngest phantom!
I know. There there, this too shall pass. It is heartbreaking. How must the Greeks have felt when earthquakes pummled the theater of dionysis, and yet they survived and persevered. The theatre always wins.
"it will be playing again if i got anything to do with it" that's the most Andrew Lloyd Webber thing to ever be said and that's definitely not a bad thing
*Fun Fact* whwen the show re-opens the chandelier will be the 3rd one the production has had. the Original was replaced after the New York Production opebed because they wanted to find an easier way to recharge the batteries on the chandelier.
I have heard the orchestra will be reduced in this next production in London . Why are they only booking till Feb . New seats will be welcome and it seems there is more leg room on the plan .
I hope to be able to book tickets for Phantom again at Her Majesty s. Please keep to the original and do not use large video screen for scenery as some modern shows do.
The screen is actually used to zoom in on the actors for the people in the back rows, so it's either that or hoping a bunch of people will bring opera glasses
@@b.d6642 No, it isn't. Some of the productions use video screens as part of the actual scenery so that the set looks much larger and more detailed. At NO time do they use it to "zoom in on the actors".
@@LeeKeels oh i thought you ment screens like in the albert hall production where there was a screen above the orchestra that zoomed in on the performance, my bad
WHY IS HE SAYING "hopefully some of my music" AND "if I have anything to do with it" I AM CRYING!!! I WANT THE ORIGINAL PRODUCTION TO COME BACK!!! THEY CAN REVAMP THE PROPS TO LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME. IT NEEDS TO STAY THE SAME. THAT'S WHAT MADE IT RUN FOR OVER 34 YEARS!
Hope reopen and we will watch 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼hopefully also pound Turkish lira equal will go old days. Than promise I'll came to UK for Phantom. Hope everyone will be safe..
I wish that The Phantom of the opera Toronto Canadian production was still in production. What happened to that Production and why did it shutdown on Halloween 1999? I have been wondering 4 years now? Could you possibly please let me know why it had shut down in Canada? And is there any possibility of a new Toronto production opening up soon or anytime in the near future? Will it be coming back permanently to Toronto ever?
Andrew, como consideras la traducción de ÉL FANTASMA DE LA ÓPERA que hizo Camilo Sesto al Español???. Gracias y Gracias por la dedicación al Arte y por todo tu trabajo...!!!!
Is it true, that Andrew said, that the 2004 movie adaption of Phantom was the biggest mistake of his career? I've heard someone say that and I cannot believe that. I loved and still the movie and I do not understand why anyone would hate it. I know some gave it heavy critique but I could go on and write a full review stating my points, why I think this is not justified.
Yes, they will be sitting outside in the street. You'll listen to the show in it's entirety there, and then you'll go inside and you'll just have to remember the music as the play goes on.
I'm glad Andrew Lloyd Weber is speaking out against what is being done in the name of COVID. Normally, wouldn't we call banning theatre, the arts, and people gathering together fascism? And now because it's using the excuse of "health and safety" it's OK? No, it's not OK. It is tyranny.
