Damaged European man meets damaged bar girl, what could possibly go wrong?

I met a Thai girl in Pattaya - not a bar girl as far as what I knew - recent university graduate - from Roiet. I tried to help her find a job, but she was LAZY and did not have a serious work attitude. She wanted 1 million THB to get married, when I questioned this she gave me the “you don’t love me” statement. I soon broke up with her, avoided a headache for sure.

Came to the comments section expecting a host of anti-Thai, anti-woman sentiments. Pleasantly surprised to see well-balanced and reasoned people. Kudos to your viewers and you for the viewers you attract!

As long as you're a meal ticket, an upgrade or a status symbol, you'll never really know where you stand with her. It's a 50/50 russian roulette type of shot at that point. A woman has to bring something to the table and she has to have something to lose. If not, she has to suffer with you. She has to walk through the valley of "LIFE HAPPENS" with you. She has to be able to endure and survive the storms of life together with you in order to be worthy of you, to be worthy of being your queen and to be worthy of your fidelity and loyalty! WHY, because, she will have earned it!!! Ask yourself, if you lost everything, would she sell meat patties on the side of the road with you if that's what it took to rebuild??? Otherwise, protect yourself at all times because it'll be the same shit different day with a different woman and you'll continue to get your teeth knocked in!😎

Issan is wicked. Pattaya is very similar to Blackpool. But I don't think this dude is in a position to give advice with his 'cough' successful history of Thai - Farang relationships.

I stumbled upon Dan's channel a few months ago and I thoroughly enjoy it. Some days I'll listen to a few stories. Instead of having the radio on. Loved the story he mentioned about the Irish bloke with a wife and four kids. Feel sorry for his wife but it had me in stitches at times.

I don’t think the issues are exclusive to Thailand. The issues that Dan describes is easily observed in the Western world also. Just try and choose carefully and take your time doing it. Also ask yourself if you are really ready and mature enough to have and hold a good relationship.

As an old far-east Sailor. I can totally agree with what has changed in 25 years. Yes, it's the internet and the ego's that makes things different. Sometimes, when I feel bad about a topic, it's because I know it's true. It's fun to believe and fantasize that you're the exception to common sense. Yes, I'm 60, but I'm so cool and young at heart. The bottom line is having a relationship with any woman is going to be hard. They are a complex creature. Their main focus is the money! Always the money! It’s not about you. It’s about your bank account. How much do you have. How much do you make in a job. How much do you own. Men’s main focus is about the woman’s looks. Is she pretty. We men are extremely visual. Women care most about security. Why we see ugly fat guys with beautiful women. But they have the money. Which represents security in the woman’s eyes. I too went through a bad situation with a Vietnamese woman I met in Hong Kong. I was living in China/Manila. We were together for seven years. Almost got married. But didn’t. It was something very bizarre and unique that eventually drove us apart. So she went back to Vietnam. Luckily, she wasn’t the type that kept asking me for money. Or for her family. I did give her some but only when I offered it to her. I think picking up a bar girl for a serious relationship can be dreadful. It’s hard. Because of what she has gone through in her life vs the way you lived. Black and white here. Night and day. Difference. Use your brain more than anything. Not your heart. Not what’s in between your legs. Your brain. Think. Think. First.

Dan talks about the fact that normal women also can trick the naive foreigner...Stupid guys with big wallets will always attract manipulative women..its not a unique Thai thing..Its not hard to find a good honest middle class Thai women but you got to know what NOT to do...Set your rules and standards( its called having a frame) early on..Most women,regardless of where they are from, will respect you for it...

He's right though about Thai gals who r ruthless that are not just from the red light district but they are some normal Thai gals who can be worse then ruthless, I dated a Thai teacher many years ago..she turned out to be a nightmare within a month of us being together, luckily I showed her the door after 3 months.

Posts like this really do clarify the need that people must do their own research before they Travel to Countries they never visited before. And part of that research needs to be into understanding what to look out for, in order to protect yourself.

This guy doesn't seem to understand that you don't need to live in Isaan to find the quiet life in Thailand. I spent years in the Nong Chok district of Bangkok which is full of rice fields and village life. Then I moved to a quiet inland Phuket moobahn with mountain views and only one bar within the local neighborhood. I'm only 15 minutes from the beaches and tourist nightlife if I want that though.

Stop looking for love in bars, stick with your bros out there you don't need to he around, birds every single night!

Ive watched Dan's channel pretty much from the start. I sort of stopped watching mainly because it became tiresome listening to the same stories over and over. I think he's a genuine person sincerely trying to guide newbies to Thailand who specifically are looking for a relationship with unrealistic expectations.He even had a subscriber visit him one time who he helped out but the guy, in my opinion, was just another dolt who likes to frequent pattaya. His intentions are good but at the end of the day its all just entertainment.

Listening about Thai girl mentality, I recently heard a story of a Thai lady in need of money so she went and prayed to Budda explaining her situation. The next day she met a farang who was besotted with her and offered her 30000 a month to stay with him. In his mind she was more than greatful of his generosity. In her mind it was nothing to do with the farang kind act, it was Buddha whom she was praising.

If you are a retired 65 year old who moved abroad and date a 20s years old, then don’t be surprised if you get scammed 🤦‍♂️ If you’re 65 years old, you should look for someone in their late 30s or 40 who are past child bearing age. They are mature and probably already had a kid or don’t want kids.

what i've noticed from most of these videos is men just not being fussed about the relationship they're in. they seem to get married to these thai girls but assume the relationship will fail from the start. I can't imagine any of my western married friends talking about their western wives like these guys do - basically saying well its sort of fine, not great, but I can just leave if anything get hard. None of them seem to be in actual loving relationships. i don't think i've heard one man in any of the videos talk with any sort of affection or love about their wife. it's like they're a vague acquaintance. Seems like this is the type of man that goes to thailand in the start - people who don't seem to be able to put down roots or form long relationships with people at home so go abroad and form these superficial relationships that seem to be primarily about money and sex rather than actually knowing the person they've apparently decided to spend the rest of their life with. I don't know, each to their own, but it doesn't seem like these guys are going to be able to keep a happy relationship going anywhere in the world. If you're going to walk in to a bar anywhere in the world and try to start long term relationships with sex workers there you can't honestly think it's going to work.

I have a Thai friends and married with a foreigner the other one when she’s mad to the husband she threw a knife at him and the other one shoot the husband on one of their arguments and she have to spent time in prison somewhere in Europe but some are good wives too.

Bad things can happen to men no matter what the age difference is and no matter what the background is of the woman. Much safer to just not allow yourself to "love" any of them. Most of them are very skilled at fleecing men of their money.

I agree with both of you. But. I'm 44. If I book a vacation to athailand and see a hot 22 year old sure. The hormones will rise. But I say but. Keep your head. Do I honestly think a 22 year old model will love me? Nooooo. Thailand or the Philippines. I don't feel sorry for these men to be honest. When you're retired unless you meet someone close to you're age and dont splash money and make false promises maybe sure. Like the saying goes. Men think with their small brain.

Not sure if it's this video or another one, but he mentioned on a dating profile that he wants to just go to coffee, and that he won't pay for everything, etc... which is a great idea! I lived in Thailand for a few years: 2004-2006. And I didn't buy into: "The Man needs to pay for Everything!" etiquette. However, if I went on a date with a Thai lady I feel obligated to pay since they are generally poor. On the other hand, I've also met Thai women who were educated in the West and adopted the Western ways of 'Women's liberation" where they even offer to pay on a date. I was confused about this social etiquette: Is it a real social expectation in the Thai culture or is it just plain BS? So I just made a judgement call case by case. Of course if you're with a bar girl, you have to pay for everything!...LOL. But outside of the bars, it's open to interpretation. If I met someone that has a job sometimes they would offer to pay, but as I stated I do feel obligated since Thais are generally poor, just don't want to be treated like a walking ATM machine! I don't recall ever asking some Thai dudes I knew there about this etiquette. They're input on this would be interesting. What are the facts behind this social etiquette?

There's a myth that many Thais believe -- all 'Farangs' are walking ATM's. The Thai women who have been spurned, jilted, single mothers and young hopeful wannabees will flock to the bars , clubs and hotel lounges for salvation. Amongst the many are a few real gems! However its like walking along a beach of crushed glass looking for a 'lost diamond'!

I like that bloke. Before I remarried my Vietnamese wife I met in Australia, a friend took me to walking st in Angelas city. He took me to a bars that I felt like a predator. The doors shut behind us and all the girl's had numbers and were dancing on stage for us and 1 other. I didn't finish my beer and left. He took me up the rd to the place with the fly mesh on the corner with pool tables and the outside world could look in. Much better. I get what he says.

I often wondered about life in a country such as Thailand. Only in the last few days I stumbled onto Dan's channel. It's a real eye opener. Men settling in Thailand are typically seasoned, 50+ years up. If they haven't managed to establish a sound relationship until then, likely they can't do it in Thailand. Once the pay for play thing is over, the relationship deteriorates. If they aren't single when they move over they are at risk of messing up their current relationship. Thing is, the entry barrier for getting to know a thai woman are lower...a few weeks or months into the game the strings are being pulled. The best thing to do is to het to know a nice woman in your home country and move over to enjoy Thailand far off the bar scene. Imho.

100% they have picked the wrong woman, most guys simply have zero radar when it comes to woman and Thailand simply amplifies these issues due to the access you are afforded via money. I live in a nice area here and I have been with my wife for 11 years, I have been able to provide her with a pretty luxurious lifestyle despite not needing to work she has chosen to go out and sell real estate as she wants to create a career for herself. I offer to buy her things like Louis Vuitton handbags even a BMW and she is simply not interested, its refreshing. I have quite a lot of friends with similar relationships, but you never hear anything about these type of Thai girls because they are very uninteresting, we just live normal lives. I believe you reap what you sow, and bar girls are a very poor starting point and so is a forty + year age gap.

Didn't "lose" the houses. He traded houses for attention. He's a crap negotiator, not a victim. Extremely low self-esteem is a serious issue many men going to SE Asia have. Sad, but ya can't tell them anything. Given enough money these men will give away 1000's of house. Only constraint is the amount of money they have. No different from a gambler's addiction. People talk about these men like they're dumb instead of the extreme low self-esteem problem. That only traps other low self-esteem men who think they'll be smarter rather than facing the actual issue. So this just keeps happening over and over.

I'd like to know how you guys deal with the language gap. I live in Asia but found having conversations about, say, films or books or travel or whatever, near impossible. Obviously I know many people just want sex, but for the people who want more - how do you do it? I see mostly older guys who sit with bored looking partners who both play with their phones and sit in silence. Its not what I want love to be.

What Dan mentioned was spot on. If you go to Thailand and lead with money, you'll attract the type of women or people in general who are attracted to it. You don't go out in your own home country and flash with money, right? Because then the same thing can happen. When I met my wife in 2010, and we would go to Big C to do grocery shopping, I would show her what average products would cost in the Netherlands and she would find out pretty quickly that Western people aren't rich, but it all comes down to how much you get to spend once you paid all of your bills. My wife was renting a room in Bangkok for $100 a month, and the house I was living in would cost $500 per month. So if you just make them aware of those little things, it could turn up quite differently.

Serious Mental Problems, and a Good Heart? Is he talking about me? No worries. I was put through the wringer before Dan was even born. No girl will ever scam me, again. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Never again. Love is PAIN, People. Love is pain! Just ask Shakespeare. Let's all recall the sad tale of Romeo and Juliette. (The country, or which country, matters not.)

You just have to go and experience Thailand for what it is. Get off the plane at the airport and go exploring, whether it be exploring the hinterland of Chiang Mai or exploring the bar scene in Pattaya, Bangkok etc. The opportunities are endless.

I would argue men make terrible mistakes or more correctly take terrible risks when dating women. I would argue it is the the risk the men take that is the problem more than differences in ages and culture. We know that the majority of Westerner/Thai relationships fail. If we estimate 1 in 3 are successful. If I were to ask you to bet 1 to 3 on your happiness but you will certainly lose your stake how much would you wager? When asked like this most people would not wager their entire emotional well being and most of their financial assets. Most will certainly keep something back for the 2 in 3 times relationships fail. This is the manner of the risk most men are taking even relationships in the West. The men who come to Thailand for women have not had wonderful relationships in the West. Western relationships are no less risky than Thai ones but we discuss the Thai relationship failures separately from other relationship failures. Men who have not been able to have a successful relationship in the West and now have a failed relationship in Thailand we blame the difference in the women but the common element is the man. To conclude I am not saying the men are at fault but for their own sanity should limit investment in these relationships. It seems as though we say just pick that 1 out of 3 that will be successful. Like always picking the winning horse will not be possible for most men.
