In addition to the marketing, Diablo 4 is part of a franchise that existed during the nostalgia years of a lot of people who play D4 now. So there is that too.
@@mustangmanx You can only kill Diablo so many times. I'm glad they keep switching up the Antagonist, or else the franchise would have died years ago. The story lines in each game have been great
@@Swarley218years ago??? d4 is only 1 year old? wtf are you even saying???? switching up the antagonist is not a thing in a story called "diablo" ....its not called "diablos niece" for a reason.
One of D4’s biggest issues is the skill twig. It doesn’t need to be as complicated as POE but it can head more towards LE. There are not enough satisfying skills for each class that you can build around. There is a huge lack of diversity and among other things it limits replay ability. POE has a ton of fun skills you can build around and really enhance. Also you can cosmetically change them which helps refresh those skills
Honestly every single offensive power that is on gear should be on the damn tree. With only defensive lego powers on gear. I think it is so stupid for your tree to basically never make your character feel better without the lego gear to go with it. Plus classes like Sorc have no way to even scale something like lightning damage. I have just uninstalled because they have no idea what they are doing.
when poe came to early acess the biggest problem was the lack of content, but the basic machanics were there, and this moved a whole comunity arround it..
D4 was lacking basic functionality when it was released. They've had 12 years since D3...there's really no excuse for the condition D4 was released in. Over a year later, and they are *almost* to the level where the game should have released, but still lack a lot of things and have a lot of issues.
GGG was a tiny indie company when they released POE. Blizzard was already a billion dollar company when they started developing D4. Vastly different expectations are needed of what should be expected on a games release.
If we are talking early access poe1 sure but release Poe1 nobody bitched about content because Maps were a gigantic innovation in ARPG endgame at the time. the main issue was desync in the first couple years of poe1. Not content.
Usually a gamer will blast the campaign in a few hrs or a day then hit 100 in 2 or 3 days then be fully geared 99% to completion then it’s pit and Ubers to get more useless gear for no reason no value to accumulate gold is not a currency and the game gets really boring in 5 days the PvP is so unbalanced there is literally nothing to do in open world the world bosses are stupid af and nothing matters then u think u got 2 months and 3 weeks to go of this and uninstall
Diablo 4 and Poe 2, are different games to me. They are different enough to be competitors and that's why I play D4 and Poe and will continue to play D4 and Poe2
@@SeriousClownLOL you can like both but one is going to inevitably be better, even if only slightly... and in most cases people will play the thing they like best
@@paimog9233 I was playing POE when you had to get a email invite to join the beta way before it was popular and I'm not going to do the cyberpunk 2077 and praise POE2 while it's not even out yet
im just happy we will get to play both games, and im glad they taking different paths in the ARPG Genre, my game rotation will be D4/Poe2 for a long time
D4 doesn't have to be PoE to be fun. It's ok that it's the "casual" ARPG. The issue is it lacks too much to be great. Just the itemization is so boring to me, even D2, a 2000 game has cooler items.
@@ThePepe969 it doesnt have to be PoE. but it should be a full game pretty soon. it released over a year ago. lets be real D4 is a terrible joke of activision blizzard trying to milk the nostalgia cow
@@Foatizenknechtl idk about that, they're never going to drastically change their systems. I don't want D4 to be PoE either. What I want is the game to have cool items, fun builds, a good balance and an endgame with variety. The issue is, right now all they're doing is go into the powercreep route. Builds are so strong right now that the game becomes piss easy and you don't have to worry about anything.
Did they add a party finder to D4 yet? I'm still stunned this always-online game launched without a way to join players in the UI. It's a year later, I am really hoping they added it. Also, the skill tree is dead simple and the difficulty in D4 is that of an idle game or childs game. You can completely shut off your brain and pick random stuff and still get to WT4 at level 50. D4 in no way needs to be POE, but they need to make a cohesive game. Right now D4 just seems like rushed and disjointed systems that are dead simple or don't seem to mesh with any other system in a meaningful way. I am happy many people are enjoying D4 now, but I would also like to enjoy it. And I have trouble enjoying games that feel so half-finished. Campaign was pretty cool though.
I enjoyed D3 at launch, loved running with my Demon Hunter, And path of exile 1 launch was really fun. I'll blame d4's past issues with the previous owners of the Company, since they have been doing a good job. Looking forward to Season 5
The average person and developers. They all have different viewpoints and perspectives of seeing a game. It doesn’t matter which game you actually play as long as you enjoy the game that is the whole principal and perspective of any game within the gaming industry.. thank you for your viewpoint. I appreciate you televising and giving your perspective. Bye for now take care of your friends and family.
i have tried getting in to poe but i simply cant,it just doesnt feel good, the combat is janky and the main feature that makes an rpg fun,the loot is completly uninteresting in poe, granted d4 isnt amazing in this regard either, but it atleast has it,in poe i never felt excited killing a boss, because the boss would never drop an interesting piece of loot, everything is crafting, and an extremly poorly designed unintuitive crafting system at that,i have mostly been playing grim dawn and now some last epoch,i rly hope poe2 makes loot fun
Dm's bigger point about the disconnect between casual & hardcore in terms of gaming discourse is something I WISH more people on the internet would be aware of. It's so easy to take the bait & go down this rabbit hole of thinking that "everybody" has 1 opinion purely bc ppl are naturally wired to hyper fixate on spaces they agree with. But unlike us, Game Devs have complete access to 100% of the picture in terms of how their games perform. & it's never going to ever be in their interest to ever openly speak to or about the casual player bases when said bases do not, will not, &/or never care to get on the internet to see what anyone thinks. They simply buy games. Play games. Enjoy or dislike games. & that's it. & a hard truth the entire internet refuses to believe is that the casual base ALWAYS outnumbers the hardcore. That goes triple when you start talking about mobile btw.
I was part of the beta. I played D3 and Immortal previously. I think the nuance missed about whether they listened to feedback or not depends greatly on whether you came from D3 or D2. The Devs have said they thought the audience for D4 was the D2 players. It is VERY clear that they prioritized the feedback the favored that D2 model over D3 related requests like pets, etc. I did provide a lot of feedback (using a controller on console slowing typing it in). At the end of every dungeon I filled out the survey and wrote 2-5 paragraphs on what I experienced. Over the last year, and especially last couple of seasons, I have seen much of my feedback enacted. Once they took off their D2 colored glasses I think they were better able to adapt to the overall sentiment. They have a ways to go. I still feel lulls in interest... times the grind just feels to grindy.
@@MrJustin1m Is it though? The reason why they react so quick is because it's a "f2p" game. In which I mean that when the league isn't doing as well (which there have been a few where the players really didn't like the league theme) they instantly lose out on MTX transaction chances. Plus they're a small studio in comparison and changes don't require the amount of paperwork and internal approval. In the end, their end goal is profits and income, they just get theirs a different way than others (through stash MTX and the numerous cosmetics). Their income is directly affected by playerbase engagement. Better isn't the word you're looking for, smaller is the word to describe them. End goal for any game studio is the same, "profitability".
@@gearzdesign They have to put out a good product or they lose out on mtx sales, like you said. yah there will be leagues that dont resonate with 75% of the player base, but GGG has the passion to try new things and take chances. d4 team is too scared to take a swing at anything that the game is so bland and boring.
@@MrJustin1m I agree for the most part, like I said, GGG doesn't have the red tape and approval process of a larger corporation like blizzard. But at the same time, PoE is a niche product, barrier of entry is easy (as it's free) but the walls come up quick with things like stash limitations, organization etc (all handled by mtx) then the in-depth multiple systems that overwhelm most players (which is why most people who try PoE rarely get past act 1). What I'm trying (badly) to say is that each has it's own merits and issues. And the video that DM is reacting to seems to (at least in *this* video as I didn't see the entire original video) glance over the faults of GGG as well.
@@gearzdesign oh for sure, poe1 and poe 2 are not and are not going to be perfect products for everyone ever. d4 is new player friendly but I know that the game wont have the same longevity that poe1 has had. It will most likely have the popularity of d3. hold for a few seasons and drop off once blizzard ravages the team for their next project. they are already going the reaper of souls route where they are pay walling customers from content WAY to early in the games life cycle IMO.
This hit home for me, I was working at home depot at the time D3 launched and had the exact same experience... even played WW barb too lmao! Funny how much paying attention to the media can impact your enjoyment of a game.
Question, a lot of people are talking about the couch coop of PoE 2 as being awesome, but how does it compare with D4 couch coop ? (haven't really used it so I really don't know).

I got into that version your talking about of Diablo 4 that was under heavy NDA. Likely due to the thousands of hours I had in D2 but especially D3. I was also in a lot of early testing for WoW expansions over the years as well. They definitely invite players with high play times for Blizzard games.

6:05 yep. same for me. i had so insanely much fun with D3 and the auction house that I didnt go online otherwise for a few weeks. the game was superduper good. better than it was at the end of its lifetime for sure.
As a brand new ARPG player, coming off 10 years of League of Legends (i know FmL) D4 hooked me to the genre after blasting on release to level 80 i got burnt like most people did so decided to play LE and had a blast... then played PoE and that was it from a brand new player with no ties to past games PoE is just by far a superior game in every aspect except graphics but poe2 seems like itll get that on par
Of course a game that's over 10yrs old and has been refined over time is going to outshine 2 brand new games. How people expect games that have only been out for a year to have the content to match a game that's had years and years of content additions over time is ridiculous
@Valverde713 yah but they've put out a road map and next cycle early next month comes with a new pinnacle boss. They're more imaginative and responsive to feedback
@@Valverde713 last epoch felt way better than D4. Only place d4 shines is the look and feel of the gameplay they did that great but they have so much money its a given for it to look and feel great. It's the core game that is the issue
@@marting.9613 d3 is super easy and was redesigned multiple times but I atleast enjoyed it for what it was and played a few hardcore seasons. It’s definitely boring after a few days.
To me D4 is what D3 should of been. It would of been fantastic in the early 2010's. But it feels like they just built D4 in a vacuum and terrified of looking at any other arpg's for inspiration or concepts. They only had D3 and thats it.
I played D3 post RoS over PoE because the UI/UX was better, I like PoE but I prefer having the detailed tooltips and not being told that I was better off creating a new character if I wanted to respec.
I was a big D4bad guy until season 4. After trying season 4 out i'm fairly positive about d4's future. The game is fun to play now and a lot more good changes coming in season 5. Still no endgame but ... i think more endgame will eventually come. So yeah i'll enjoy both game and be twice as happy.
Don’t sleep on the expansion either. People forget that diablo 2 was also very bland until LOD came out. I imagine the same thing will be true with D4.
@@PrimalDirective so it's like 50 for the basegame and another 40 for the DLC which you will have to buy to keep playing seasons. Remember, D4 was bad for a year an now that it's actually enjoyable they want you to spend another 40.
Was a tester here in the early-access NDA’d and watermarked build. We knew then it had a slew of issues. Kehjistan was largely unskinned, one-shot builds abound is why Overpower was neutered in the launch, and Ubers dropped like candy. Unfortunately it set in how bad the issues were when I was back on D2R S2 within a week. End game content was the same as launch in just NMDs/Lilith. Hit 100 in two seasons post launch and can’t bring myself to keep it open for more than 30 minutes now. Really looking forward to PoE2 and the slow trog has more of a D2 vibe than D4 was able to pull off.
Diablo 3 kicked off with AH being focus, so unless you got the godly drop, breakout the wallet. Also, things hit way harder and was so difficult to make progress.
You also got to remember you are comparing a game that’s been out now for a while to a game that hasn’t even been released yet so obviously Diablo will have some out dated sort of things going on compared to a fresh new release game
My nit pick, it was shown the enemies had more of a gore system to them, theres now hidden dev diary videos on diablos channel where it showed a as you damaged enemies they would show it by taking on a bloddied appearence , also there was more gore on their demise too. It was a pretty d2 gritty combat feel. But It's one of those things that was cut from the game or never implemented on final release. Guess that's why those dev videos are hidden now?! I think they need to go ahead and implement that at some point. Sure, it's a small detail, but it's the small things that add up . Maybe once the game gets to a state where its full of content and doesnt feel repetitive, we can get that. Bigger demons to fry before that.
Hard agree with you on the point that blizz did listen to feedbacks but was too slow to implement the fixes. It took a while but d4 isn’t bad anymore, it’s d4 mid era already. Give them a bit ….ok give them a while and d4 good will be real.
POE talent and gem skill system is just so good. POE always felt clunky compaired to Diablo. If POE2 addressed this, I think it's game over for Diablo. Diablo will remain profitable due to Blizzard legacy copium but POE will be so much better imo.
GGG doesn't have shareholders, that could tank the company for having a huge delay after announced. I think they are finally getting to the beta feedback (D4). It feels like they have been given the reigns to control the game now. But POE2 I will try it out at launch Who knows.
my wife says you need a parrot, a bandana. a wooden leg and say "arrrr show me your booty".. please dont shoot the messenger alright.. i love your videos. lol
Ig Idea: blizzard should add the pot to summon bosses at the worldbosses, but u only can use the styiglan stones. For every stone the World Boss gets +100 Lvls. And for the loot pool should like ervery 100% 2.5-5% more chaance to drope uniques per itemdrop (dont know if thats to much asked for blizzards spaghettti code). That would be sick :)
Tri has a VERY strong speaking presence without being overly assertive, arpg content creators as a whole are humble and awesome. Except path of Mathh, who got banned for being an unhinged person by doing personal attacks on Chris Wilson over the years. It's a shame, he was a great crafter and build developer
one of the best parts about last epoch right now, you can use both imputes of mouse/keyboard and controller simultaneously with out fucking with the settings at all. the only time you need mouse an keyboard, is like skill tree stuff, inventory, way points for fast travel, itemfilter , other then that, controller for everything else combat related, even so much that last epoch is the only game that does ground target skills best on controller. no other game does this at all right now on the market, path of exile is working on it though.
I mean, these are great points. Yes, d4 is playable now. But we had three seasons they could have used to build on the game instead of fix it. I’m excited for PoE2 but cautiously optimistic about d4

I keep repeating this for the past 6 months: the biggest difference is, in PoE 2 there is no open world, unlike D4. I fear an endgame without an open world, because that makes me think will be the same as PoE 1, alone in my hideout opening maps.
Yes, I’m not the only one who thinks the same. I played Poe1 and it felt a bit lonely. Chilling in my hideout (it’s cool and all) but just constantly putting maps in the device and running it over and over got old real quick. I want to run around in the open world doing hell tides and other shit. I’m still excited for Poe2, but it’s missing a lot of things that D4 has. In an ideal world we would combine these games into 1 and have a perfect game.
@@NoobMasterSSS y bro, I also think that if PoE 2 had an open world identical to D4 it would be perfect. In that case I would never play D4 again. the graphics, the atmosphere, the music are far superior to D4, the only thing missing is an open world in my opinion. Maybe it would be a way to start exploring and including PvP in PoE 2, through PvP zones, like in D4.
@@Deminese2 people play 1 month and quit leagues because of how much boring the game is as a single player game. There is almost no interaction with the world or other players. Is that a fun online game for you? Opening maps alone and farming a million different materials to craft or trade, boring...
@@bernardosilva489 No people quit in 1 month because they did everything they wanted to do. Interaction with a world isn't going to extend my playtime in any arpg most people do not give a fuck about some random person helping them in a piss easy event. Also trading is player interaction I've made friends doing so, made stupid jokes, had them compliment my hideout, made deals etc. Also PoE has a group finding board D4 doesn't even facilitate a god damn group board so talking about player interaction is the last thing you want to act like D4 has.
Definitely going to try POE2, looks alot different than POE1 and the couch co op will be nice for me and my wife if she decides to play it too. But right now I'm loving D4. Tried POE but it just wasn't fun to me so hopefully POE2 will be good because it looks amazing so far.
Open world what's the point? To fing actually see other players outside of towns! I don't group or guild. But it's still cool to see other people out in the open world and sometimes they invite you to group at world bosses etc. I'll sometimes join then just go your own way after. And then just having to load a little area in other games. Open world is just cooler and think more of these games should do it too. I was playing Last Epoch for awhile but yes I really missed the open world of Diablo 4
No, POE 1 was not poorly received on launch. The game had been in beta and early access for years. POE 1 launched as a relatively robust game with an endgame structure on day 1 and seasonal gameplay mechanics.
Unironically, i think d4 could take a lot of lessons from Division 2. Its an excellent arpg lite, with a lot of great gameplay put into it over the years.
When D3 launched I had probably logged something like 20k hours of D2 and I cried with how absolutely trainwreck horrible it was. Then I quit it within like a week and never went back.
Idk I enjoyed D3 on release and I also played a lotttt of D2 lod. I remember beating the game on inferno on week 1 with my buddies. We killed Diablo on inferno as one of the first players and the secret was I had a monk-tank with attack speed so fast there were even no animations anymore and the mobs were perma stunned 😂 My other teammate was a support tank and we had two glass cannons. The mobs one shotted me tho if they got out of the stunlock. Fun times. D3 RoS was okay.
He’s right about blizzard not changing things unless player count drops tho, if they were worried about it, they have more money so there’s really no excuse for it, they should be as responsive to feedback as GGG, Diablo 4 would be in a god tier level of they did, more endgame activities, 2 bosses with mechanics as good as Lilith’s or POE bosses per season, fixes in RNG of tempering and Masterwork, a loot filter, and more stash tabs at least double or triple, class balance so that people can play what they want and beat all the content including the hardest content, and again more endgame activities, and more mob diversity, imo
@@canisinumbra I put over 300 hours into POE and did almost all end-game content without spending a penny on POE. The only content I didnt do was because I didnt enjoy it and chose to focus on other things. Then I spent 60$ and now have well over a thousand hours in POE. Where D4 would of been 90$ if I were to buy it. Edit: Also any cosmetic/stash tab you bought in POE will be transferred to POE2.
I played a lot of Diablo 2 and loved D2R when it released but Diablo 3 was always a huge let down for me and I never got really into it. I was super excited for D4 and it just doesn’t have it. I’ll still keep trying to play it as they continue to add new ideas.
Like you said about how you liked d3 at launch because you didn't watch videos or read threads on it. I think its kind of sad how much people let others opinions ruin a game for them. If you think it's fun that's all you need.
I remember only that when diablo 3 released necromancer it was time when path of exile get 6 new chapters. And this was already after years of laughing at diablo that it falls down comparing to path of exile.
As a strictly steam deck only user for pc games, I’ve realized I appreciate the games that come out perfected for the steam deck audience. I love last epoch but 1.0 has been a nightmare and it has me going back to Diablo 4 to get my fix. Po2 looks like its going to come in and sweep
Much better than d3 where they had content creators play the beta to hype it and then never touch it again but there it also ended too early (skeleton king act1).
@@coachjones6705 the AH early on was definitely better for buying like 3LP common uniques even 4 LP. Thats really its main advantage otherwise no its not good but GGG isn't making the same AH all they're doing is copying having a taxed system for it
DM,I find it extremely weird that you don't address that Diablo 4 has couch co-op. In the same breath you address how p o e 2 has great co-op but never mention Diablo IV's co-op what the heck?
You think blizzard reacts to feedback but they don't. This guy is completely right. We've seen this every game they released recently. Only when the community dies out and barely anyone plays THEN they implement changes people have been asking for for like a year when they still cared.
I remember during the first like 2 months of OW2 whats her face the chick with the assault rifle/railgun combo was overpowered as fuck and people bitched to nerf her over and over and over and blizzard didn't touch her for months even when she was dominating the highest ranks. They don't listen to shit and their turnaround for QOL and content is abysmally slow.
Poe is pretty complex. I tried playing it put in 100hrs and I feel like I know very little. That is why people prefer D4 BUT PoE2 I’m definitely getting into that game!
@@MrJustin1m Then specify. It’s still a standard price after exchange rates. Next time I’ll say GGG charges $50-60 for stash tabs due to exchange rates.
D4 has become good enough that I'll play it instead of POE, just hope POE2 allows easier ways to change skill points on skill tree than POE, and allows some form of skipping campaign on alts.
I enjoy all Diablo games, PoE, LE, etc and looking forward to PoE2…I’m just an ARPG Fan and I love it when all succeed. I even love the season model cause it affords me the time and opportunity to play them all
I will try POE2 when it launches, but I suspect that I will stay with D4. It has nothing to do with which is better, but if POE2 is anything like POE1, I just wont be able to play it. At 51, my hands cannot keep up with the skill/potion spamming that POE requires to stay alive, with D4 and its slower gameplay I don't have as much of that problem.
Why compare a hardcore based game with a more casual with friendly skill tree based game they may both are ARPG games but they be intended to different audiences…..
I’m not exited to pay another $70 in an expansion for a game that they still fixing, this is why I haven’t played D4 in about 6 months and will mot go back for the expansion. I prefer to wait for PoE2 and buy one of theirs $70 packs.

I was part of the Beta and definitely, in the minority that D4 released at the state wasn't good. I was optimistic and still bought it. I regretted it. I actually don't care about Endgame grind so I went into D4 looking for different build options. I didn't see many only to find out, just like in D3, items defined build variety. Stupid. I have to find items to make my wolves do something special. I'd like to enjoy both but, I have a sense of 'what's the point?' I have tried 'Loot Reborn' season and my opinion hasn't changed. The expansion won't change my opinion. I'd Rather pay $40 to support GGG and that would be well worth compared to paying $110 for D4 and expansion.
I miss not meta gaming and not listening to everyone bitching and just having fun playing a cool game. It wasn’t about how broken builds were it was about how fun it was to play
@@kendement071 Yes, they did. Shortly after that they postponed their beta release because their game was in an awful state and they had Necropolis for PoE1.
