The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) / * first time watching * MOVIE REACTION!!! 

The movie apparently didn't do a good job of conveying this (you're not the first reactor to not pick up on this... in fact, I can't recall ANY reactor picking up on this), but when the gamemakers are evaluating the tributes' skills and Katniss goes in for her turn, the portrait of Rue on the floor was actually done by Peeta. It wasn't to provoke her (in fact, in the books, they tried to get rid of it, but Peeta somehow made it permanent, so they hid it under a mattress or something). It was to shame them (the gamemakers), by showing them, "this is what you do. You kill children."

She is such a good actress. At the end after Gale says "There is no district 12", without any word you can see her going from confusion, to hurt, to resolve, to anger

@21:40 They cut the show because the Capitol crowd was shouting "stop the games" after the pregnancy announcement, not because the tributes were holding hands. Dissent in the Capitol is rare and they were afraid of losing control...

The districts are essentially slave labour and the Hunger Games a brutal fear tactic to keep them in line to supply the luxurious lifestyle of the Capital (it makes for an excellent metaphor for a lot of the dynamics in current world politics and classism, I often think of industries like clothing, coffee, tobacco, food production; many of which rely on labour exploitation and that have high rates of slavery, though I think the author likely was thinking more about keeping people in poverty to force them to keep working in undesirable industries). The revolution is inspired by Katniss and has been gaining ground in the background since the riots you saw after Rue's death in the first movie. Katniss is just trying to survive and take care of the people she loves, but she's the symbol of the revolution, so the revolutionaries want her to keep the movement going and keep pushing the people to fight. When the "peacekeepers" (violent thugs) were sent to District 12 it was to beat the people into submission and try to lay on more fear to halt the revolution that you see evidence of as Peeta and Katniss travel from district to district. Snow and Phillip Seymour Hoffman's character discussed the plan before the peacekeepers arrived. They were going to juxtapose footage of Katniss's wedding and luxury with footage of floggings and beatings of instigators to establish her as "one of us" and kill her image, but it fell apart when the live stream caught her diving in to defend someone (Gale/Hemsworth) being flogged instead.

While these movies are mostly pretty damn accurate to the books one big point they removed from the end of the first movie which highly affected the second movie is that in the books, Peeta lost one of his legs to that leg wound he got in book one. So he had a prostethic leg in this movie. Which made him much more vulnerable during these games,despite them training in advance for these games to become stronger. Especially adding the fact that hitting the forcefield and his heart stopping for a bit during these games also affected him much more severely than the movie makes it seem. They just kinda gloss over that in the movie and he's pretty much fine as soon as he wakes up. In the movie Peeta is still healthy and able to fight, but in the books he was much more hindered by both his old and new injuries making him unable to run away from the fog, so Mags had to sacrifice herself. And less able to run from the Baboons, so the Morphling jumped in to buy him time. It also factors in to why he isn't sent along with Katniss to unroll the wire by Beetee, Joanna and Finnick: because he's less able to run on his prostethic leg, so he'll be less likely to make it once shit hits the fan which they know it will. And the entire alliance of victors who are in on the plan want him safe, because they know Katniss wil freak out if Peeta dies and all they care about is keeping Katniss appeased so she can later lead the revolution. So everyone keeps saving Peeta and helping him even though ostensibly he doenst stand a chance in his weakened condition, purely because they want Katniss happy. It's also one of the many factors Peeta uses to try and convince Katniss to save herself and leave him to die, because he is already wounded/handicapped and doesnt think he has a chance anyway against physically fit fighters. Also: the movies never mention it. But Katniss was temporarily deaf in one ear after the blowing up the food in the first games. The capitol fixed her hearing. And so as not to give away that she could visually see the forcefields as Beetee told her, she said instead that she could "hear" the forcefield with the reconstructed ear.

They don't make it clear at all in the movie but Peeta is the one who drew that picture of Rue.

Can tell this is gonna be a good video, just subbed after watching your first hunger games video. And I just wanna give you a few more details that movies don’t tell. The quarter quell is a special hunger games that happens every 25 years, the rules change to make it more entertaining for them. Haymitch was actually in the 50th quarter quell, instead of 24 tributes they doubled it to 48 tributes. Anyways hope you enjoy the journey, and I do have a recommendation for you, the movies “The raid redemption” and “the raid 2”, both are very action pack martial arts movies. They are Indonesian films but very awesome I suggest watching it in the original language not English because the dub is very bad.
