I just don’t get why for most of these last few games we concede a goal and then we instantly go up a few gears and level of play. Tonight we did the same and for a few minutes after we scored I was seriously thinking we going to get another here and then we just let Spain get ahold of the ball and they scored ☹️ I’m gutted lol

You cant play as a high pressing team with a centre forward who doesnt press. You could see Harry Kane clearly wasnt fit and whenever Simon had the ball he was able to pass it easily to a defender and kane was just statuesque. When Ollie Watkins came on he was much more effective and for about 10-15 minutes Spain were rattled but once Palmer got his goal we just sat back again and let Spain dictate. It was mainly hopeful long balls which would just end up coming back and that eventually led to Spains winning goal. We had some good moments but overall we werent good enough

To the Southgate apologists, He picked a squad without a fit left back, he started the first 2 games with an experimental formation, he admitted that certain players were tired yet insisted on playing them every game without resting them, he played players out of position, he kept starting Kane who is obviously not fully fit, he doesn't have a plan B (unless you count throwing on subs and hoping they do something), and finally, he was 30 seconds away from losing against Slovakia but for a (ironically Icelandic) long throw. Please stop saying he's a good coach. There's no point having a team of friends with a feel good factor if you don't win anything.

Whats damning for Southgate that he said they were experimenting during the Euros. The Euros should be your best team from start to finish not changing midway through the tournament and guessing. Try picking players that play in the same position for there club? Foden LW? Alexander Arnold CM? Bellingham LW?

Again the second fella, absolves Southgate of blame, says it was the big players who didn’t perform, names Kane Foden and Bellingham. Those players played nearly every minute of the tournament, whilst englands most in form player Cole Palmer didn’t get on before 70 minutes. That’s on the manager

Southgate shouldnt get abuse. He did well. But the idea that he "built the ship" is nonsense. He had great players at his disposal. He got the luckiest runs in the World Cup and this Euros. The other Euros was nearly all at home so he had home advantage.. Yes he did well to get to 2finals and a semi but he also cost England those games. Anyone abusing him is a lowlife but he is the wrong manager for these players. England have a squad now that has the potential to win 1/2+ International comps. They didnt deserve to win this one based on how they played but their squad was the best. If they didnt have such a negative defend-first manager then they couldve won it.
