You say big picture, I say thorough. Yes, it makes you more money but also allows you to inform the customer of all the problems they need to know. It is always up to the customer whether they want to fix it or band-aid it. A good tech like Chris finds all of the problems that a business needs to know in order to keep their equipment operating which keeps the business running. Well done, sir. I wonder if people who don't understand regular maintenance get their car's oil changed or do they drive it till its screwed.

You reminded me LongLife oil bubble in Europe. It was a laugh. Very costly for car owners laugh. Advertised as X2-X3 mileage (for sake X10-X20 cost). But they did forget to tell the oil itself that is have to last longer. So the oil did not...

You wanna see some mud come out of a coil do a PM on a BBQ joints roof, we also had a walk in evap we called "tuna coil" cause they store all their raw fish right where it intakes, washing that coil isnt for the faint of heart haha i worked 1.5 yrs as a PM tech in KC for mostly restaurants, taught me A LOT.

A TXV is mainly to protect the compressor from liquid slugging. I myself always tried to keep the evaporators as flooded as possible due to limited power available in Alaskan villages.

I wonder how long an old-style sealed motor would last compared to the newer open style. I realize the new ones are "More efficient", but they are also somewhat budget built to meet the minimum. I'm sure an old-style motor which used more wire and material would also run cooler and last longer, as well as protect the insides from all the sand.

No doubt you know what you are doing. Love the pleated filters in the MUA unit. Changed the wrong RTU unit? How does that happen .. oh let me guess.....the lowest bidder I bet. I used to use a checklist to check everything on every service call to cover my butt. Most techs do not do this.....and they should check everything. Also...it is wise to carry two 9721 fan motors in truck stock for the very reason you pointed out. Change both motors not just one motor. Great job! Your customers are blessed to have a technician like you. I hope they know what they got!

I found that particular company to be good to work with. It is interesting that they keep the chicken wings at that temp but they do go through it quickly at that. Don't get me started on Supper Bowl weekends. I also ran into the same issues with the sensors being placed there and the loaders/kids putting boxes over the sensors or even worst ripping it right out of the door control. When ever I was given the parts to replace the control with the long cable, I would run the sensor to the back of the coil to get it sensing better and explained it to the managers on that.

I've found that the proper tension is to leave a little plastic hanging to the zip ties as cutting them flush weakens the plastic too much in the area of the plastic ratchet.

Can you guarantee a path to earth through all those connections without an earth cable then or after you leave? . irrespective of if you think the earth path via mounting bolts to the panels is ok.The real answer is no. Hence an earth cable to a suitable point should always be used. Big picture stuff.

The sensor should have a cage around it for protection and to stop boxes stacked too close to leave a gap but either way in this case it's just in the wrong position.

9721 are not meant for 14" 5 paddle fans , only for evaporator 12", they will go bad very quick
@HVACRVIDEOS
@HVACRVIDEOS 6 месяцев назад
Nothing lasts on this equip, but the 9721 motors last the longest, I never use them on evaps because they are way too big and have way to many wires. Even the OEM heatcraft motors don't last in the harsh desert heat, 12-18 months is all you get in those environments
@user-uk3jo6tm8c
@user-uk3jo6tm8c 6 месяцев назад
You should have replaced those evap plastic undersized fans. They don't even move half as much air as the Heatcraft fans. All you get is quicker coil frost, lower suction , higher Evap TD, higher compression ratio, shorter compressor run times, uneven room/product temp, and doesn't help with oil return either. Someone lied to that customer that they would be saving money with those "High efficiency fans".
@HVACRVIDEOS

-3F SST on a 28 degree room temp ?! That system is not running properly, it all goes back to the undersized Evaporator fans. Not a properly run service call. Wrong condenser motors and wrong evaporator fan blades, which means more issues down the line.
@HVACRVIDEOS
@HVACRVIDEOS 6 месяцев назад
You are right nothing is running right, but for lots of reasons, the condenser fan motors are moving the right amount of air, the evaps are not and the compressor is a fixed speed comp sized to 120 degrees outdoor ambient conditions so now that it is 45-55 degrees outside the compressor becomes a monster fixed speed comp with no real capacity control... We run into td issues because of it for sure. A digital scroll would be a great choice but the customer wont invest that money into this place.
@user-uk3jo6tm8c
@user-uk3jo6tm8c 6 месяцев назад
if you change the evap fans the SST will jump by 10-15 degrees< and then you might find out that you have to open up the txv. This is what I see almost every week in my neck of the woods on 3 major national chains
