I love the fact that you decided to share some criticisms, and potentially concerns for consumers with different preferences. Everywhere I saw was nothing but compliments.
Thanks for this. Even though you clearly dont find it easy to criticize these IEMs because of their technical qualities being good, Im glad you did and I think I have a good idea what you mean. As someone who's doubting between these and the Katos, this is very helpful!
I have one and it still sees a fairly amount of use, no QC problems whatsoever to this day and it's my to-go IEM while i'm not at home. My first impressions of the Timeless were "holy crap, bass!" which I wasn't expecting from a planar at all. Then, the TOTL separation was the first thing that caught my attention. It's really that good. The resolution and level of detail is also worthy of being TOTL, since there's not a single thing that goes unnoticed in a track with these. It's a safe choice and ridiculously cheap for what it can offer. Personally, I have no complaints.
Hey, now that I have got to try both, I have to agree with you. Have been using 7Hz timeless for a a week now and just received my Kato 2 days ago. I have not going back to the timeless once. I just enjoyed the Kato so much more. I think the timeless are fine themselves - may be it just an individual taste thing...
One of the most hyped iems I've seen, it started a few months ago then multiple reviewers all start mentioning it. The buzz seems unnatural and leading up to 11/11 is very convenient. I would not touch this until it has been out at least 4 months, if it is good it will still be good in a few months time, why rush? Just see how things unfold. You will be able to tell when people have fallen for hype when they're angry at any negativity about it.
7hz timeless are very tricky iem, to enjoy this iem to the best is : 1. Changer stock cable to penon Pac480 2. Change the eartips to the one that boost more bass, i use the stock and it feel very good 3. 7hz is not the deep fit iem,use the medium to large eartips. Although the comfort is not the best, but the detail, clarity, sub bass, mid and treble will be tuned to the best harmony with these tips, hope u guys enjoy it as I do.
Oooo, I do not believe I am hearing that! You like the Kato more!!! Kato has tunning that 'fakes' music - it has forwardmess in mids that fakes detailing, it has some strange bass shelf that fakes impact but in fact sounds like either bumping with a fist on the wall or either on an empty metal can, and treble lucks sparkel and rolls off fast. I think you are not using the right tips for Timeless - you should use only the stock orange bore snoked ones or descent foam ones.
I can't tell if you're trolling or you're actually serious. How could you say KATO fakes impact when TImeless has an even more boosted bass level yet hits like a wet sponge? Have you actually heard both or are you just regurgitating shlt you're read? If you prefer the Timeless then just say so and explain the reasons why...don't just try to discredit everyone else who's opinion differs from yours...
@@PrimeAudioReviews Yes, I have both. Yes, I did A-B testing from Helm Bolt, Hidizs DH800s and TEAC HA-501 and Burson Soloist 3X. And I wrote how I hear the Kato not touching others' comments. So if you 'see' smth in b/n the lines, sorry it is not like this. As you say 'if you prefer the Timeless then just say so and explain', here it is: the Timeless has sound signature that is very close to Blessing 2 Dusk but is more lively - the B2 Dusk is still more refined but it is so refined that can be slightly 'dull', so liveliness vs refinement; the Timeless has more sparkle and extension in the highs than B2 Dusk but it is slightly sibilant in some songs, so more sparkle vs refinement again (sibilance is 99% negated by using foam tips for Timeless); the B2 Dusk has more tight bass but the Timeless has a bit wider soundstage, so bass tightness vs staging. As you see the fair comparison for me is with the B2 Dusk or the P1 (as you did). But not with Kato - already said why.
@@dorisisaway355 Fully agree with you. I was not much satisfied by the Timeless in the beginning and I am still not 100%. It has some flaws which I tried to improve (some come from the package): 1/ it needs more power than usual iems - I know it is funny to use iems with Burson Soloist 3X but I do for exploration since the volume control and scale of precision of the Soloist 3X make all obvious. The Timeless needs power, not so much like the P, but needs it; 2/ I left aside all stock tips and experimented and found out that Lukos foam tips give me deep fit that improves the fit, the bass and negate the sibilance; 3/ I also would prefer a hybrid and a DD for the bass of Timeless but that could be a MK2 (:-). Waiting your next review - I see you enjoy doing these a lot.
@@nikolaygramchev Great reply, my friend👍 Glad to see you here as well. We had interacted earlier at 'Super Reviews' channel. The usp of Timeless is that it has a sound signature like Hifiman Sundara but in portable closed back iem format. Now, not everyone may like that. Planar timbre and tonality are not for everyone. But just as Hifiman Sundara has a lot of admirers, this iem has and will gain a lot of admirers as well.
I own also the MELE and got the timeless to try a Planar....... I'm still using the MELE and luckily sold the 7hz for the same price I paid for them...... I feel happier spending $50 bucks for the MELE........It was not worth the price to upgrade to the timeless .......
The 7hz Timeless is like a chameleon... everything I do to it....everything I plug it into it changes... it changes with ear tips, it changes with cable changes.... I put a stock pair on a Topping A90 and let them play Apple Music for 4 days to break them in... I plugged them into a ifi Diablo... it likes the power... I plugged them into a fiio M11Pro and they changed.... then I started to change the cables.... first up was a mixed metal cable from fiio... the sound got deeper and thicker... almost too much but they still didn't bloom out.... then I went for the thinest cable I know of the Linum Super BaX and the Timeless smoothed out and it is as linear from bass to treble as you could possibly get.... then I plugged them into a Smyth Research Realiser A16 and I couldn't stop listening too them... fantastic sounding.... these are a keeper you just need to find out how to interface them with your source and then to your ears... that would be cable rolling and tip rolling, let them burn in and they are again... amazing... they love power... just adjust the volume knob a little at a time and they start to scale up... you will know when you find the sweet spot....
Completely agree....finally finally blown away..1. Extreme tip dependent..spinfit cp145 having proper balance 2. Extreme source dependent dont mistske for high end stuff....first i tried with Zishan dsd having warm akm chip..meh....then Hidizs S9 pro..too analytical and dry..meh again...and finally with Tempotec Sonata E44 this one did the magic..it adds the needed 3d effect nice bass and body and stage and dynamics you name it.
They're some ones that came with an unbranded mystery IEM a couple of years ago. They have been one of my favorites ever since and I wish I knew where to find more!
The thing is people who buy 7hz Timeless (due to hype or whatever reasons) are mostly upgrading from $50-$100 tier to $200 so i am sure 99% will love them including me..waiting for delivery....since we did not have heared anything over $200 earlier so no disappointment expected. I respect your views though.
@@PrimeAudioReviews Dude, I brought the Timeless with my own money and liked it. Do I become a fan boy if I like an audio gear you don't like.? Oh, no!! I committed the grave crime of liking an audio gear the sovereign prime audio reviews don't like!! Somebody save me.😏 Jokes aside. Your audio preferences and mine seem to be different. That's all and it is perfectly ok. Crinacle is a highly reputed reviewer. Do I become a fan boy if I respect his opinions? The answer is no. He earned his respect Calling some one with different take on an audio gear as 'fan boy' is grossly immature. I am sorry for you
@@Hari-kx2er i completely agree that is why i said 99%. Crin and others will fall that 1% so i dont need to tell him. I bought timeless due to curiosity and will find if i have Crin's ear when inlisten for sure otherwise also i dont bother since i know $ and your 'preferred sound' dont match many times. No offence to anybody.
i am looking between these and the hana 2021 , i like balanced tuning with good extended highs and balanced mid range and bass also kind of balanced , big fan of very open stage and precise imaging (kind of like that 3d holographic feeling a lot of people talk about ) i am not looking to buy another iem for at least an year so anyone who has experience with both these or any other dynamic driver set (not into multi ba sets) let me know
So I’m having a hard time deciding if I want to get the timeless. I had it on order from drop but it got delayed and I canceled it. So as a point of reference my favorite IEM is the mangird tea. The reason the timeless was appealing to me is that it has elevated bass and at least from the reviews I’ve seen really good treble and detail. I think the tea has amazing detail but lacks some bass impact. Not sure if it would be worth it for some extra bass since the tea in my opinion is so freaking good. Or I could buy the dusk but who knows I don’t want to side step.
Sure, it's got more bass than the TEA and you would probably like the tonal balance. Personally, I think it's a sidegrade (at best) from the TEA but there's a good chance you would love it. Since my opinion on this one seems to be so different from everyone else's, I don't want to take as firm a stance as I normally would.
@@PrimeAudioReviews I find your reviews of IEMs that I personally have to be very in line with my thoughts. I decided to pass on the timeless and ordered the moondrop variations when they were discounted for the 11/11 sale.
@@Soundoverload They are GREAT. So glad I shelled out the extra cash to get them. I could go on forever about what I like but it would be easier to just watch Michael Bruce’s review. He pretty much nails what I think about them. I’m done with IEM‘s for a while. Maybe in a couple of years whatever the new hotness is will give me the itch but with the variations I don’t feel like I’m lacking for anything.
Happy New Year, wish you the best!💫Thanks a lot for all your reviews, they're really honest, professional, and awesome! Keep it up! If you don't mind I have a couple of questions. How do these iems reproduce vocals? I'll explain. I used Dan Clark Aeon 2 closed-back headphones so the voices sounded like a step or two behind you and it was a problem to me cause I prefer vocals one or two steps in front. So what about 7hz Timeless? Because I listen to a lot of RU-vid, podcasts, and tv shows so my main priority is to hear natural, clear, warm, well-articulated, and pleasant voices without any sibilance. Would you tell me please which Moondrop Kato or 7hz Timeless is my cup of tea? Or maybe there is something better? Budget is not a problem up to $500. Thanks!
Although I'm not a huge fan of the Timeless, I think it would be a great option for you. Vocals are up close and intimate with extremely good articulation and a natural tone. Happy New Year!
Original p1 all the way and no regrets! Love them for the exact same reasons mentioned. Good to hear another side of the timeless which was very close to being purchased over the p1s
I bought into the hype, and so far I don’t love them. I completely agree with you about vocals feeling not intimate, and the instruments feeling dry. I can’t pinpoint what’s wrong, but you’ve put it really well in your review
More specifically, I noticed a good part of my library doesn’t play well on these, like Dire Straits - Knopfler’s voice sounds lean and thin, cymbal strikes sound dry, drums also sound a bit unnatural. But most importantly, it’s the guitars, they don’t have attack and body. But on the other hand, when I hear pop and female vocals, they’re just sublime. So it’s really a hit or a miss based on your musical preference
Mine were like that when I listen for the 1st time. It sounded tight and dry. Then I burn it in for about 12 hours with pink noise + 8 hours of the recorded sound of heavy thundering rain. Voila ! The sound become lush, detailed all over the spectrum. 7hz Timeless is my no 1 iem to enjoy now.
Such divergent views on this IEM. I’ve heard everything from the KATO is slightly better or they’re better than the KATO, to the 7HZ as good as Nanas when a bigger amp is used to that they’re just ok ..for the money . I’m stating to wonder if there’s a QC issue with the driver 🤔 It’s a coin toss as to my next purchase..these or the KATO…..😳
I personally would like to get the KATO. So much stuff is constantly coming out that I already have the Kbear Believe and it’s also a single DD. I love the Believe and it was literally within $10 of being the same price as the KATO. A single DD can sound absolutely wonderful and natural compared to hybrid sets that use BAs.
Just wondering if you tried this with some different tips? The somewhat shallow insertion mixed with the wrong tips could produce some of the issues you've mentioned. I myself haven't decided on a purchase but I did hear a different reviewer mention that a tip change cleaned up some initial issues.
Of course. I've got a truckload of different tips. Eartips can make a (subtle) difference but they're not going to 'fix' something that I don't like. Hey, most people love these so just go for it if you're on the fence.
@@PrimeAudioReviews I should have assumed you did given your experience. I’ve got analysis paralysis at the moment. I’ve got endgame money I could spend but I’ve got zero experience with IEMs and I’m new to this audio hobby. I’ve had HD650s for years that I run through the Dragonfly Cobalt. The issue is I travel the world all the time and it’s just not practical to run open backs on planes and trains. I ordered a pair of the new T3 Plus for $69 to get my feet wet before I jump for something like the Z1R or the Monarch MKIIs. I’m wondering what your thoughts are on owning different IEMs for different kinds of music. Say having a rotation of 3-4 different sets.
It's definitely nice to have a few different sets, especially if you're just starting out. That way you can get an idea what type of sound signature you like before spending big on an expensive flagship IEM.
@@PrimeAudioReviews awesome bro. And if possible to get S12 it could be super awesome 😁. I'll be waiting for the review. Also thanks for covering a lot of variety products 👍
You really confused me 😆😆I was sure Iam gonna get Timeless but now I don't know...I have Tanchjim Oxygen so Iam not sure about Kato right now in this price range...I really want to get the original Hana because it is quite different sound signature from O2... and now P1 plus is out....or the of P1...hahaha maybe you could give me some advice for the 11.11...✌️ 😁 😎💪
I'll be able to spend more time with the P1 Plus over the next couple of days. I still haven't heard anything from Tanchjim either so I can't give you much advice. I think the KATO is one of the best $200 IEM at the moment and I still love my P1 but it requires a good source.
You're right. The leading edge on drum kicks etc is missing. It's a weird flaw. Personally I couldn't pick what was wrong. You nailed it. The drum intro on Taper Jean Girl by The King's of Leon on the timeless is pathetic. It doesn't sound remotely as it should. Man, the hype train can kiss my ass!
The trick with the Timeless is the fact that you need a very good and powerful source for them. They are cheap but they will not sing even with an average dap. I have the IBasso dx312EXN with almost 1.5 W per channel and im listening to them from balanced, high gain and around 35-45/100 volume. They will play loudly with a decent source or even with a dongle but it doesnt mean that they are scaling well. The bass described here as wooly, doesnt exist on my rig. They are so close to the iBasso IT07 (worth 950e) that i spend most of my time with them. In A/B comparisons, the IT07 are better technically- better detail, very holographic staging, even more pronounced and layered bass but the differences are smaller that someone would think and the Timeless has a great tuning and timbre which makes up for the rest. Their horizontal staging is also great.
The Timelss has superior instrument separation, resolution and detail but I still prefer the Starsea. Starsea has tighter mid-bass and a more natural soundstage.
Nice review as always, it just goes to show that ear preference thing, lol. I agree the bass has more quantity but lacks a bit in quality, yet as a whole I really enjoy them, mainly on EDM and I prefer more sub-bass and a more rounded off Mid-bass rather than a good solid hard punch with that style of music, so for me these work wonderful. But I do get what you're saying. As for other music such as vocals/jazz I prefer the Starfield's as the imaging and cleaness/clarity is awesome, even moreso than with the Aria's as it has a warmish tint that fills out all the frequencies, though they are livelier/more fun, that tint seems to cover up the clarity for me some, and the Timeless has just a little bit less(warmish tint) than the Aria's and more than the Starfield's, so I can see where they might sound less lively/cohesive than a better done Arai such as the Kato. >>>But I do get immersed in my music with these!!! But again, I guess it's like flavors and everyone has different likes and dislikes ;)
It's good in many ways and almost certainly promises great things for the future. I can't wait to see the next release from 7Hz, whether it be a Timeless Pro or something else altogether. Much like the BL-03 did for BLON, the Timeless put 7Hz on everyone's watch list overnight.
1 7hertz timeles or kato or mangird tea or fiio fh5 could you tell with one is better need neutral not very warm sound and the deep scene not big not enaugh bass i need full response not muddy mids (perfect sound a bass guitar) clear voice ok treble without sibiliants more technical play (reference) not that much musicaly mature sound & fast bass impact the greatest tonality 2 could you tell in your opinion to 300$ best with my feelings sound 3 or more engaging sound to 300$ sorry i m not decided with path i wana explore i will get the propositions to hear in audio store first so not blind buy i listen clasical edm pop k pop indie rock jazz but i think classical and jazz indie rock asian music (rock indie jazz electronic ambient sounds) is the most important genre for me
The Mangird Tea will give you a more neutral sound with a large soundstage and the best noise isolation. The KATO is also a good option and is engaging but from your description, I think Tea will be great for you.
@@PrimeAudioReviews Somehow the planar sound is very unique, I tried them all but the 7hz is something else. The fit is okay the circular thing is kinda annoying.
