This is a very clear demonstration of the issue and I could really feel the stretch esp on one side even though I did regularly do extreme stretches of the hip flexor. This stretch is functional whereas with the extreme stretches I was practicing a somewhat dysfunctional stretch.

With this movement I found very little tightness in my left hip flexor but my right hip flexor was surprisingly tight. This movement also seemed to relieve some pain in my lower back. Thank you Taro for the clear explanation and demonstration.

My hip flexors are rock tight and it affects many movements negatively. I’ve had no success with other common hip flexor stretches but following your cues had me feeling a noticeable stretch in them right away. This gives me hope that I can finally make headway on this issue. Thank you for sharing this.

After picking up Yoga I had problems with lunges (still have when I'm not careful) because they could cause twinges and pain in the lower back. First time I got a really good explanation for what's going on and how to fix it. Thanks!

Thank you Taro. I think I am depending more on my lower back than my hips so, as you mentioned here, I feel tired from a short walk. Thank you for keeping drawing attention to the importance of moving from the hips. My mind knows but my habit is stronger😢

Just wondering if there is a way to do practice that movement without being on the knees. My husband has a lot of back pain while walking, but he's had knee replacements and cannot kneel.

yes, you can practice in standing. you can place your front foot on a step stool.

i also have shorts for people who just want to see movements. but my focus is to help people understand "why" and "how" they move so they can really change their deep habitual patterns. I understand not everyone wants to learn that, and I'm perfectly fine with that.
