Joe and vmp, thank you for always having great content like this. It's amazing how much I have learned by watching your videos. I'm a middle aged man try to figure all this new stuff out and you have really helped me. Working on getting a gen2r stage 2 for my 14 and I can't wait to get started. Once again thank you for the videos I really appreciate them.
I literally experienced this over the weekend. I let it idle longer than usual then check engine light came on when driving. Plugged my tuner in was lean bank 1 and 2. Clear the code and it hasn't came back on but this explains it. Thanks. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Now that’s great advice from a tuner standpoint! Part changers don’t understand why the car doesn’t run correctly when they put different parts on they just get in their minds that the part is no good and they need something different. That’s why this video is so important, thanks guys!
This is good info guys, I have an open grill and had a ram air setup to my intake thinking man I wanted the coldest air possible, here I was getting surging idles, miss fires at 60mph on the freeway and I was ready to point the finger at you guys and say WTF but after this video I blocked off my ram air holy shit smooth ass idle no hesitation....GREAT VIDEO GUYS I can sleep at night now lol
Thanks Joe , I actuality called you guys for an error code Ii had on my Shelby, It was a lean out condition . you asked about the intake and told me to tighten the clamps and clear the code and see if it returns . so far it has not come back.
On my airraid set up, I used a shield and also reused the diffuser screen after watching the maf signal bounce a bit. That and without it I was ended up with it going more lean than I wanted for a second if I snapped open the throttle. Awesome video, thank you.
When bypassing the MAF sensor, vehicle's computer will not look to the MAF sensor to check air to fuel ratio, but will bypass it and go to the O2 sensor to calculate the amount of fuel to mix with the air. At least on another car's make& model. My $0.02
@SLICK WHEELS This isn't a bypass. This is placing a screen in front of the maf housing. All the stock 99-04 4.6's (the 2 valve) had them stock. Its only purpose is to smooth the flow of o2 to give a stable reading. Many aftermarket cai's don't bother with them. After data logging without the screen and with the screen, I kept the screen on after looking at the graphs and a smoother response.
so what are your thoughts regarding cold air kits that are in the fenders like JLT High Boost intake? No fan issues but does have the curvature of the pipe which could make for bit more tuning difficulty but the cold air is what I would think is best. Why keep in engine bay if you don't have to?
Do y’all ever see variances in the JLT Intakes? For example JLT May call the intake 125mm but it may actually measure 132mm. Y’all ever run across that? That would affect how clean the MAF signal is right?
What’s up guys so my 2011 gt500 is sort of lagging on me , whenever I pop it into 1st gear and step on the gas the rpms go up but the mph really don’t move or go up and I scanned it with the tuner and gave me 2 codes that might be in relation to this p2098 and p0100 any ideas ?
Hey Edgar, P0100 is a Mass Airflow Circuit Problem code and P2098 is a post catalyst fuel trim low limit code. If your vehicle is tuned, you should contact the tuner and see about having a log reviewed. If we are tuning it, email in to your tuner here.
