Hey Guys. I just found your channel. I like what your doing.. I am 71 and have been out of the hobby for like 25 years. We lost a really good field. From what I'm being told all my local hobby shops are gone 😠 I have to agree with you it's very important to support your local hobby shops. I always tried to do that when I was in The Hobby. I have a lot of old radios. And some brand new Satio's still in the box. I just rejoined the AMA. Thanks for your videos. Love it! 👍❤
I left a comment for you unfortunately it didn’t post right something I did I’m sure anyway welcome back to the hobby get those old saito’s out dust them off and ring them out, looking forward to hearing from you in the future
I've seen four local hobby shops close down within driving distance from me in the past two years. They just had a hard time competing with online retailers. Great video!
What a cool looking airplane! You can make a nice canopy using a 2-liter plastic soda bottle, a block of wood for shaping and a heat gun. Look around on YT for an example.
Our local hobby shop is a nation wide chain. One day I went to buy some OS F glow plugs and the guy in the shop that day asked me "What's a glow plug?"!!! I didn't say a word. I just walked out and ordered my plugs on line.:(
Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I buy covering, balsa, glue and fitting at the locale hobby shop. Batteries and servos come from Amazon.
I like you're videos before it even starts, I scratch build RC planes with foam but some how still fully enjoy seeing old balsa models , you're videos really inspire me to build more planes even if for example I crashed 3 planes today 😂,thanks guys
Great video guys! I must be pretty lucky, as I have a LHS that has a pretty good inventory. Cars/trucks, boats, trains, airplanes (kits,ARF’s, foamies, all of it!) I do buy stuff online, but that’s only if they don’t have what I’m looking for. I’ve also bought a few planes from them that were hanging from the ceiling. I support them every chance I get! Marty, Matt, Bryan, keep up the great work! You guys are great inspiration to us.
Do you guys have a healthy population of hobbyists in the area? My LHS is in a retirement community, so they keep pretty busy. However, I think I’m one of only a few buying balsa and glow products.
We have a fair amount in the area that fly but not many that fly balsa and glow it’s a shame that it’s that way, we are trying to get more people to try balsa & glow-gas you can’t beat how balsa flies and to have the consistent power and longevity of gas or glow is priceless
I would love to frequent a local hobby shop…unfortunately, Parma Hobby in the Cleveland, Ohio, area closed years ago and the nearest hobby store is located too far…buying online is the only feasible option right now…love your videos!
Wow you’re actually not that far from us. I figured there would be some nice hobby shops up that way. We are close to canton area. Thanks for the kind words
Another great video guys. Thanks again for promoting the hobby. Unfortunately our local hobby shop in Saginaw, MI closed a few years back. That's the way it goes I suppose. Wondering if you folks might be heading to Toledo in April? A few of us from the Frankenmuth club usually go to find some deals and we usually succeed. Model planes, good friends, Tony Packo's, what could be better? Hope to see you there. Again, great video.
Unfortunately my boys and I are in agriculture type jobs so April is about the time we start getting busy it sure sounds like a good time specially tony pakos
I have one hobby shop and all they sell is Traxxas cars. I live in a densely populated state zero hobby shops that sell actual hobby products. All they sell is Traxxas
Very nice guys! I'm not lucky enough to have a lhs. So i support dubro balsa usa sig and others directly instead of going through Amazon. I have a small hobby shop in the barn that I do sell locally and to you guys also! If anyone is in west central Ohio near Union City Ohio and you need hardware covering balsa etc feel free to reach out! I keep a pretty good inventory. I also have plenty of project airplane's. Mike Csaplik.
Sadly, hobby shops are becoming an endangered species. As consumers, we probably all can take some of the blame for that. In the end, when you don't have a lot of money to play with, it's human nature to look for the cheaper alternative. Unfortunately, this false economy often leads to cheap component being rubbish.
I wish my Saito .56 ran that good. My OS 91's, old OS 61 FS, ASP 91, Thunder tiger 91 and OS 1.60 Gemini all run fabulous but that Saito is a fussy POS. Tappet clearance is right on .004", cam timing is correct, good plug and good fuel, good compression but it's tempermental and gutless. :( I've checked for air leaks at the intake and carb ... dunno
That’s kind of strange we have four of the .56 all seem to run well. One of the things I like to do with saito’s is remove the seals off the rear crank bearing to allow the bypass fuel to enter the cam and rocker boxes easily also seems to help with the amount of goo from the slobber tube equaling the crank case pressure on both strokes seems to work well good luck with her at any rate and thanks for watching
@@martinkolm1796 I have replaced the bearings in mine with an unsealed main bearing and sealed one side front bearing. This engine was in a Chipmunk that I bought some time ago and it has always been the same. I had another 56 that was pretty good. It was in a 66 inch Southern Belle and pulled it well EXCEPT it broke the crank pin off the the crankshaft and punched the rod through the crankcase!!! I sold Southern Belle sans engine 😮💨
SIG stiffed me for an order that they couldn't ship because they didn't have product. After a month and a half I emailed and was told that they should see product soon, so I decided to wait. I made that order in April of last year. I have tried reaching out to them for a refund, but so far they are ghosting me.
Well no one in the hobby is real sure exactly what’s going on with sig all we know is there moving to Chicago. My personal thoughts are they will just handle arfs. I don’t believe manufacturing kits is in their future unfortunately. But good luck with your return and thanks for watching
@@martinkolm1796 They burned their bridge with me. I hope they succeed, but I won't be a part of it. edit: I mean, it wouldn't be so bad, but they even charged me shipping on something they didn't ship!
