The Incredible Totally Packed 200 year old Jones House Down South Along the Coast

Built in the early 1800’s around 1810-1820 in a beautiful large federal style house, probably considered huge for back in the day. Was a very large old house that still features all the old details like original staircase, newel post, dental molding, huge original fireplaces with Flemish bond brick work and so much more! The attic also was especially cool since it along with the rest of the main house had never really been remodeled only added onto. Thank you for watching! So glad I could document this historic old house on film and share with you all. Thank you!

Most of what I've seen slapped up lately probably won't last more than a couple decades. Even "expensive" houses, the newer ones I've seen have zero personality, white walls, plastic floors, no woodwork, huge echo chambers without any craftsmanship. Yuck.

You can bet the keys are gone on that piano because they were ivory! How sad that somebody felt it was necessary to ransack Grandpa's/Grandma's house (walkers. wheelchair ramp on the porch, the bed moved to the lower level, and the sittin' chair on the porch) and throw all their belongings all over! The woodwork and furniture are absolutely beautiful, and all hand done too. Kappy there were at least two updates done, the addition of an indoor bathroom and electricity! Thank you for taking me to places I would otherwise never see, I'll be back next week!
@urbanexploringwithkappy1773
Good point on the piano keys and updated of electric and bathroom! I’m sure the whole kitchen bay was a 40’s or 50’s addition but atleast they kept the main old house intact! Even the bathroom was a pop out room which was probably once a back porch. Thank you for watching and good eye! :)

You’ve hit a home run with this one, Kappy! I love it. It’s easy to look past the debris and see what an elegant old house still survives in spite of the neglect. I am of the opinion that the front porch is likely 1900 and the kitchen addition much later. If I had to guess I would say the floors and wainscot were southern yellow pine under all that paint. It was great to see the scratch bead siding still on survives on the exterior. I’d love to restore a gem like this some day. Thank you for sharing !!

I SO want to buy this place and put it back the way it was, it seems very doable. It's all still there and was really well taken care of for a long time; the work on the foundation and the condition of the crawl space, the intact wood moldings, the staircase, the fireplace mantels, and wainscotting. That retro kitchen table and chairs upstairs are worth some good money these days! The little bedroom on the second floor is so cute, it's painted in what they call "Haint Blue", very common in these old places. The landing up there was very pretty. The upstairs porch was heavenly, with the bench along the wall I can see the whole family gathering there. What a wonderful place, I think this is my favorite of your explores so far. The energy of the place is so great I can feel it through the screen. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful old place, I'm about half ready to pack up and move to North Carolina!

Great find! All through out would be a good save, and also adding a metal roof, and the repairs and touching up areas and the double porches, and the next to last house showed looks great for discovering ✅ The thing about a top porch at least is that in good weather perfect for a night porch to hear the crickets and look out at the stars and smell the seasons perks,flowers etc... This is a very nice house 🏡 Thanks for taking us on a visit to these places that deserve respect not just about the history but also of the labor in building them✅💖❣️

I’m blown away by how many abandoned homes you showed in this video! I’m from California and homes are almost never left empty and not all that many are this old. What’s odd about the house you walked through is the ground floor had several rooms with rotting floors.. but the upstairs didn’t so I guess it’s not the usual water damage from a bad roof and maybe termites?! Could you tell what the problem was?! Thank you for sharing this with us!

I love wainscoting and this house is full of it! The repairs didn't seem overwhelming, but removing all the leftover stuff would take a while. I bought an old house at auction years ago and we lived in an RV while we worked on it ourselves and hired some remodeling done. It did have " good bones"... structurally sound and working electric and plumbing. I sold 5 acres that were already platted for what I paid for the house and 14 acres and was later able to do a "limited subdivision" which allowed me to sell part of the remaining 9 acres. Everything is paid for and money in the bank too. One of the best adventures of my life. There are abandoned places available for back taxes so check it out if you don't mind hard work and a looking for a place of your own!

They look in remarkably good shape. I wonder why people feel it necessary to ransack the drawers and closets and through things all over the place. I always feel the urge to start cleaning it up when I see these videos--even though some other nitwit would just come in and trash the place again. I suppose they are looking for money or other valuables. This place was once a gem and the owners didn't see it. Such a pity that it's been trashed. The outside makes me think Of Sleeping Beauties Castle and how it was so overgrown.

Awesome find! This is one of the better finds that isn't completely destroyed. Do you think that is the original kitchen. They were large back then. You could fit a large breakfast table. Did you notice the old linoleum? And the calendar 2006?? What a shame that house is left to rot. That's definitely grandma and grandpa furniture 😄 The bathroom at the entrance was obviously added in the 20's or later. I'm sure there was an outhouse buried up somewhere. Wish I could be there 😫 That was fun. This never gets old. Thanks for the showing.

lovely old southern house,,,, watch your videos and think how wonderfully you capture the true essence of these grand old ladies,,,,,, ,,,,if only walls could talk what a tale they would tell,,,,,,,,, i lived in Georgia for a time after coming home from Vietnam,,,,, south is Holy cow,,,, i loved it,,,, shame the looters have had their sticky fingers on things there,,,,,, interesting the brick work on these 1800 properties have what is called,,,,,"Old English brick laying" brick laid flat,,, next course of bricks laid end out,,, ,,,Ed

What a wonderful and beautiful find !! Thank you so much for sharing your vedio of this house... It is such a shame that no one has cared or wanted to try and salvage this house before it had gotten to this stage... I just don't understand why this house has been left like this to just rot and waste away... Like the family who had this house has given up on it and did't care to save it before it had gotten in so bad of this condition... I absolutely love this house and enjoyed watching the vedio !! The wood work, crown molding and fireplace mantels are absolutely beautiful... Take care Kappy and always stay safe out there.. Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄🎄✨
