You've officially sent me down a late night rabbit hole reading about Yume Nikki and it's creator Kikiyama. Definitely going to add this to my list of games I need to get around to playing. Great video :)
That Little Nicky meme poster at the beginning caught me off-guard. It's the only Sandler movie that I actually like. BTW nice video very informative about a game I don't know anything about at first I thought you were gonna talk about Corpse Party since the first title was made in RPGmaker.
Cool video, Yume Nikki is really a gem, you should try next fear and hunger, another great rpg maker game, but you should be warned the game have heavy stuff
you should checkout the corps party or OFF (yes that games name is off) games too then, i think they pretty much are preeniters of the big rpg maker game renasonts we had from back then. off is kinda like a prototype for games like undertale in some ways with it's meta commentary on choses in video games.
Video Game creepypastas sadly came true, it is called the modern gaming industry launching broken unfinished games and charging $70+ for them. The horror... And those open world maps, blah. Remember when we 1st played Halo CE and got off the Pillar of Autumn onto that alien ring world? No map with bloated markers everywhere back then. We had it good and didn't even realize it.
Welcome, you're late to the party yet stil welcome to the Yume Nikki experience It's literally just creepy-to-jumpscare-to-gloomy simulator, but it's simplicity yet thematically cryptic in it's exploration/walking simulator can bring imaginations to many early internet users back in the middle of 2000s to early 2010s
Imo, the most overrated rpgmaker game of all time, alongside To the Moon. (But i'll be honest, i'm just salty most of my rpgmaker games aren't going to achieve this level of relevance)
