Thanks for this interview. I've read a few of his scripts, reading those, watching the films, and this really paints a whole picture.

Such a lovely rambling interview and discussion. So many good nuggets and the end was heartfelt and awesome.

It might have been a nice idea to have structured the interview as more of a conversation, rather than a tick box exercise in asking questions in a solely sequential fashion. The halting style of the interview never let poor Shane build on any of his previous answers and kept the whole thing feeling very superficial. A washed opportunity.

Mr. Black is similar to so many writers, who have said, "I didn't intend to do this". If you understand the God of the Bible, He is the One directing our steps. Everyone has a destiny to fulfill, but the person is not deciding their own destiny; God Almighty, is. Since most folks don't understand the ways of God, they go to the people who God has given the gift, and try to follow some type of "formula" to emulate what that writer has done. That may or may not be the path for them. NG. Also, just a side note, Hollyweird has lost the admiring audience for their nasty, godless ways as to how they approach Americans. What I've seen over the years coming from Hollywood, is mostly garbage that no-one wants to watch. Just like upcoming actors; they do not have the "star quality" that actors from the past have had. Folks like John Wayne, James Cagney, Clint Eastwood, Robert Mitchum, and Sylvester Stallone don't exist anymore....and more than likely, never will. As a screenwriter, I prefer Atlanta ( East coast Hollywood) to market my wares, if you will. Mr. Black is just a down to earth guy who has been given a voice for his work. Nice. Silly people create the "legend thing" when they get too caught up in the work of the "humble" writer. I believe that the work we are "given" to do, is only for a season of time, and then you're done. Like all things, history notes us then moves along.
