The Iron Knights: Force-Sensitive Droids of Star Wars 

I played the Star Wars ttrpg many years ago. An dear, late friend of mine who was DEEP into SW lore tutored me on some things. It was a homebrew campaign. The main timeline differences were Padme did not die, and Anakin did not get maimed by the lava. He and her slay Darth Sidious and took over the empire and Padme became corrupted. The Sith and the Jedi had joined forces to fight the Vong. I made a human in apperance Droid, made by Kurat of Kurat owner of the drive yards that supplied the empire. His class was engeneer, only one on the team. Slapped some "borrowed" Mando Battle engeneer armor on him and jumped in the middle of an ongoing war. We do a "dungeon" in a derelict droid factory station. My guy hacks in... roll... crit success. I think the GM felt i could handle "a big item too aid the fight" and said: "It is yours." Me: "the passcode?" GM: "No the base". He gave my dude full control of the station. Cleaned out the few Vong left. And transported the thing back to the Death Star 4. We receive our accolades upon return, and guess who is there, the emporer and his bride. Anakin meet with the team. Looks at my character and closes his eyes. Reaches out with the force... GM rolls... the force was a random factor in his brew... Darth Vader opens his eyes. "I feel Medichlorians (spelling) residing in you." He takes me away... break in the game for some family stuff. We all regather next session. A respectable time skip is done... my guy is sporting a new black and red Mando style armor. A red Light-Whip, and his three new buddies imperial colored Astromech R2 units my character has customized. I was like "Wow, why?" My GM said... "you came in late, most of the squad is very high level. You played well, but most of all you played up your characters weaknesses as well as your strengths. I think you will not allow this too go to your head. Plus we have badly needed an engeneer." We have a kick ass soical game that night, had a blast. I return too my late friend/SW tutor, tell him all of this. He cackles. "What the h311 you gonna get next?" Me: "Dunno, any sugestions?" He ponders for a moment. Snaps his fingers... "Ever hear of a 'World Devistator?'" Sadly I moved and was never able too play that system again. Now why do i tell you this rambling story? This all started because I asked my tutor one question; "Can Droids have force powers?" The guys you mention here are whom inspired said question and reply. The GM was quietly impressed i knew such a obscure lore tidbit he silently wanted too see 'where this goes'. You got a subscription tonight. Ty for the memory. May the Force be with you dude.

My favourite piece of obscure Star Wars Lore. I even tried to rework the Iron Knights into fitting with the new canon as Silicon based creatures that form symbiotic relations with whichever Droid they are joined with.

good video. some stuff i didn't know about, but you know the fact that they didn't get more attention in the stories is quite fitting for their history.

Sentient crystals that operate droid bodies kinda reminds me of Mobile Suit Gundam. Pretty neat idea and shows Gundams can exist in Star Wars.

I always thought a force sensitive droid was a great idea. I had developed some ideas on how someone an artificially be infused with the force. Since the force is part of everything, whether it's trees, rocks, metal ect. and some folks, both living and droids, find ways to artificially harness the force and use it. I still have it to where some people are born with it, via midichlorians, but that there are other ways to commune with the force.
