playing riven in master/gm since season 4 and i disagree with brutalizer thoughts, i think serylda (evolution of brutalizer now) is good in most of situation since it gives some flat armor pen (15lethality) and around 24% armor pen with just serylda as lethality item, that mean you can "oneshots" squishy champs like mages/adcs/assassin, and still doing really nice dmg agasint ppl who bought some armor / or just tabis (steelcaps) i agree with ravenous hydra being the best first item on riven, but rushing brutalizer it also feels nice for the extra AH / Lethality; just leaving brutalizer as it is AND/OR completing it in a serylda as 3rd might be an good option too just like old season (kinda), that said, i think the armor pen reduction of black cleaver is just bad now for riven, it went down to 24% (after 6 attacks) which is not that great since serylda can just bypass that 24% armor pen by itself ( not considering the 15 lethality/armor pen flat too which makes it even better) the BC tho has good stats x value on riven ONLY when completed. that said i also agree that the item that allows your first auto to always crit its extremely good on riven for her oneshot potential, but you might actually not need it most of the time, also the item feels bad when you're fighting without your ult or agaisnt people with armor/tabis i dont know what to think about shojin, the 9% dmg increase its only on SPELLS, and 9% its not that much, also by the time you used 3 spells (with autos in beetween) on a squishy/medium armor target he's proably gonna be dead already expecially if shojin is your third item, if he's not dead after 3 autos/spells what's the point of buying shojin instead of BC if you're not going serylda? the really good part is the ability haste on spells but is it that needed even after the ability haste nerf? the passive can be okay'ish in teamfights since its always gonna be procked but still its a 9% only on spells.. Eclipse is Really good for it's gold/stats value (2800 gold 70 ad 15 AH) but it's passive is not that great compared to other items imo ( i might be wrong on this tbh) we need more tests for sure to identify what's gonna be the best on riven, since testing agasint silver/gold player CAN and will actually cause to come to wrong conclusion about items since you're always gonna be 20 0 in a PBE game and riven when is fed as long as you build dmg/ability haste no matter what you build its always gonna work agaisnt those players.
Something that I think is important, is that we are going to be missing a lot of tools to deal with armor with the removal of Eclipse Mythic passive, Cleaver being a lot worse now and being unable to build Seryldas... I think that's a major nerf to Riven. Also Ravenous is a lot worse in s14. Now you can apply cleave with abilities and that way you get a lot of sustain, but in s14 it's just going to be attacks, and feels A LOT worse.
Well it totally makes sense since tanks cant really tank anything rn because armor pen stacking is so stong and so many champion have tools to deal with tanks. Sadly riven doesnt have any of those tools and is loosing her armor pen items. I know phreak said they arent looking to give her tools to deal with tanks in her kit but they're not gonna have a choice if all we get is a 24% cleaver
I played a little PBE as well. I am glad I am not the only one high on Sundered Sky. Damage definitely feels better even on bruiser builds. My only real complain is Ravenous Hydra audio on Active is like too quiet or not satisfying like the old one. There is not like feedback on using the item, hard to explain. Did you find this to be a little weird as well?
@SrMolina can you Test the passive from sundered Sky togehter with inifinx Edge or does it No diff would be cool toblike Just E R AA W R2 and instantly one Shot cause of how the Game works
did they buff maw of malmortius or its just shit item as it was s13.2? i mean there's no way anyone would build this item in this current state, thats why im curious if its okay s14 or not (didnt see any changes)
Would of been interesting to see clips where u arent turbo fed and one shotting squishies. Not much to gain from seeing those, nice takes on items tho excited to try those out once they hit live server.
I'm really excited for the Hydra active but it looks like shit. I really hope they bring the old animation of those super cool waves coming out of the champion
Cleaver's build path is so bad compared to season 13.You can't rush it even if you are against a tank.It's path has only 25 ad and 10 haste.Maybe shojin can be rushed if we want to have hp early.
