the Jackson 5 at Hellzapoppin' with their two songs :"Sugar Daddy" ,"Got to be there" and " Brand New Day" Including Randy Who's playin the drum AMAZING !! Enjoy it ! :)
Most people don't realize how big and popular the Jackson 5 were in their day. They were without the biggest R&B pop group of the 70's. They had hit after hit and countless songs. They were on every variety show and talk show of the decade. If a show wanted to boost their ratings they would just have the group on. If you took the popularity of say groups like N'Sync, Backstreet Boys and 98 Degrees and times it by 10 it still would not even come close to how big the Jackson Five were. This is not just an asumption but a fact. This group was so dynamic its hard to explain the phenomenon that they were. They even made their Christmas album the must have album for the holidays thats how cool they were. Their style was imitated by teenagers and their afros every boy wanted to have. Without question on of the most influential groups in history!!
Bertram Attles they had their own cartoon, they had a record on the back of the cereal box that you could really play on the record player and they had their own variety show with the whole family named The Jacksons.
New Edition comes close then all those other three groups you mention those other through groups were nothing but imitations of the Jackson 5 and New Edition
GodDAMN his voice sounded good (at all stages of his life). With those beautiful harmonies and that great beat underneath, it's just a sweet, sweet sound.
See what the JACKSON 5 apart was not only their Outstanding vocals and harmonization, but their lightning fast choreography. Especially with Jackie, Marlon, and Michael, they were so in sync with their dance steps. Truly a great thing to witness.
Michael was a miracle. Just watch how he moves across the stage like a seasoned pro. Well, I guess he already was at such a tender age. It makes me emotional thinking about how hard he worked to bring us joy 😢. I’m so grateful for the magic he created that I got to witness 🥰
In my opinion, Michael and Jermaine's vocals were very much indeed "LIVE". The background was pre-recorded. They just simply mymed the performance. All The Way Brilliant!!!
It’s great to see them see them perform songs that die hard Jackson fans know because we been following since they started in early 70’s. The Jackson Five were a huge R&B group way before Michael became a superstar. I hate when this younger generation disrespect the talent of the other brothers like they were only MJ’s back up singers. All of the brothers did solo parts on the songs if you listen to the old J5 and Jackson’s song you would know that. Of course three of the brothers also played instruments. The group had excellent harmony.
Michael Jackson was a phenomenon. All his four brothers were great singers, dancers and players, but Michael was ABNORMALLY TALENTED. That's the only definition that comes to my mind. R.I.P. Michael Jackson.
The Jackson 5 are Gods compare to " boy bands ," Boy bands are just White boys trying to sing and dance like R&B singing groups. Could never understand , why call a singing group , who doesn't. play instruments a "band"? And that term boy bands was only made for young white singing groups. Fact.
.....Michael was exceptional. My heart just break everytime I see him as a child. I always wonder why noone tried to protect him. Needless to say, atleast now he can play and enjoy the childhood that he never had. GOD Bless him
Best band I ever saw in my life, including the music, dance steps, Vocals, The atmosphere .They're perfect. And just look at their ages, no wonder they became most successful family of all the time. Also no wonder that talentful MJ is known is most successful Entertainer of all the time. You still didn't see his talents in drawing, Football, Playing Squirt Guns, and anything you could name actually. Really worth to know all this
He was an Entertainer, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Ventriloquist, Artist, Philosopher, Poet, Humanitarian, amongst other things, talented beyond words. Michael was an Angel on earth.
This performance really shows Michaels talent. This is a very difficult song to pull off live. His singing and dancing are amazing especially for his age.
Mike of course deserves all of his props as well as do the background singers and dancers, but is anyone listening to Jermaine's bass playing??? OUTSTANDING!!!!! Especially during GTBT. WOW! Happy Birthday, Michael J. Much love to you.
This family - truly gifted - little Randy came out there and "toe it up" on the dance floor and the congos - but MJJ was just special - I've watched hundreds of their videos and I'm amazed each time but can see why I've always loved this group, as well as MJJ, solo. One can see why this family has "staying power" - over 40 years now.
To me, Jackson 5 mania still exists....and Michael is, and will always be the best entertainer that have ever existed. Don't get me wrong...the Beatles and Elvis were excellent...but Michael, well.....no one can or will be able to top this extraordinary, gifted and genius of a man. Love, always.
My goodness! From 5:09 to the end it was pure madness! They danced like they had fire to their feet or something XD! Wow..just amazing. It's just crazy how sharp and on point they were with all the dance moves--turns, working the mike stand and NOT tripping in the mike cords (which I never understood) so much ENERGY!! Haha..little Randy...just look at Michael, Jackie, and Marlon in the back when Randy had his solo, LOOK at ow hard their dancing! Man! "Na Na Na..we gotta brand new thing!"
What energy these brothers had in their performances. I haven’t seen this clip since I first saw it as a kid back in the early 70’s when they actually was on this show. 51 yrs. ago. Really? I tell seeing this brothers back on all of those variety shows about every month on so was a real treat. Their dancing and singing was soooo goood. What joy that me and my siblings witness all of their great performances in real time. There’ll never be another group like the Jackson 5ive.
Perfect pitch & adlib, (Show her she's my Gurlll) (She loves Meee) (Sharing the world beside me.ee.eee) (When she's w/ me, she's Homeee) Damn! Singing & harmonizing like this is only a Sweet Cherish Memory from the PAST now, life is just not fair. M.J. puts so much Passion & Compassion in his song that comes deep down from his Heart & Soul. I wish I could freeze the GLORY days, do not pass 1984. (Sorry 4 being so SELFISH) such a more Better & Happier Times. BLESS U Precious Angel.
Damn Michael Jackson’s dancing skills was on point at a young age, he could do his on little lead dance and then step right back in rhythm with his brothers!!
Just amazing in some families you would be surprised to find one sibling with talent but all 9 kids yes even Latoya in her own way lol . What are the odds pure gifts from God. They were the 1st family of music.
Please please pretty please yes Jermaine. Ur input in J5 was tremendous and ur bass playing superb. Michael is super talented and dancing so energetic Love all ur songs and performances.Randy mashed those bongos good.
First man: without interruption. The sensational. The great Second man. The fabulous First man. I said no interruptions THE JACKSON FIVE I remember this from the series Copy Cat. I was only 11 years old in 1972
What great precision and timing with their dance moves! The singing, and the background vocals flawless! Good-looking, classy young brothers too. Too bad the later generation of black entertainers didn't stick with 'this' blueprint.
The Jackson5 was such a great vocal group of kids that they didn't just appeal to kids but adults also appreciated talent as well, My Mom loved the J5 and she used to play their song (WHO'S LOVING YOU) before I even knew who the Jackson5 were, The first time I saw them perform on TV it was on the (JIM NABORS SHOW) and I watched with it with my Mom and her girlfriend and little Michael had them laughing when he sang, (GET UP GIRL I THINK I Love YOU, SHOW ME WHAT YOU CAN DO) Those adult women got such a kick out of that little boy, That I'll never forget it, Michael was dazzling adult women at a very young age, But it seemed like every body thought that little Michael was always going to stay little Michael and never grow, like (Gary Coleman or the little guy who played Webster) because latter on when my Mom and me watched the Jackson5 on be the (Cher Show) My Mom seemed to be in disbelief when she commented that little Michael was now as tall as his older brothers, like that's not exceptible, so to alot of people he wasn't supposed to grow up! So that transformation from a child star to a adult Super ⭐ all in the public eye, could take a phycological toll for the (PRICE OF FAME) 🙏🏽
man o man, i never to this day, ever ever ever heard a kid sound like MJ. i mean he could sing James Brown songs better than a grown man in his 30's the song "got to be there" is beyond what most could do period and this kid just killed it with ease. it can't be done better than he did it. chaka kahn sung the same song excellent but MJ sounded better than her so that should tell u how good he was. he changed his singing style when he grew up but he still rocked the crowds even better! : )
Look at little Mike, singing his ass off!. The brothers are doing their thing too.. The harmony is on point. Tito and Jermaine killing them guitars. Marlon and Randy are stomping it as well . The 70s was rolling bruh.
Jackie was a great dancer, he sold alot of the performances, I love Sugar Daddy, that is the jam. believe it or not Michael was a much stronger dancer when he was dancing with his brothers doing street and show moves versus the choreography he ended up doing later. He said they used to watch Damita Jo alot when she was on Soul Train and Mike has about 4 signature moves that are actually heard, look her up and recognize right away. THe Jacksons awesome talent an excellent "workers"
Michael was an all around better performer when he was with the Jackson 5! It was unfortunate that he went out on his own. He never could replicate this chemistry.
Michael himself was one-of-a-kind. Even without his brothers onstage with him. He went on to have one of the most sucessful solo careers in music history, and he did so without them.
BeautifulDidem Yes MJ was one-of-a-kind. But you're referring to two separate "entities" so to speak. Michael was not the Jackson 5, and the Jackson 5 wasn't Michael. During this period of time (early 1970's) there was no "Thriller Michael"...and trust me I know because I was there to experience the Jackson 5 mania at its best. I'm the same age as MJ. During this time it was about this group of 5 Jackson brothers - Michael, Marlon, Jermaine, Tito and Jackie that took the world by storm and they all contributed to the phenomenal success of the Jackson 5. And in my opinion, this magic was never duplicated.
young dumb don't know or appreciate the mighty mighty mighty Jackson 5. too bad it's the magic and the essence of a black family doin it. Michael as a solo act is beyond legendary but something about J5 mania is intangible, untouchable and irreplaceable.
im amazed at his voice as adult but omfg his voice incredible back then... like seriously thats the best male voice of all time no contest. from a child to an adult best!
Wild, i love it when they sing sugar daddy, was one of my favorites when i was longer, I used to sing it all the time. I also love their stepping at the end, what great performers.
+Pretty.Red. Thang The one thing about the Sylvers was that ALL of them could sing. In the Jackson, only Michael, Jermaine and Rebbie could really sing. Jackie came clos, but no dice.
qwe qwen drugs is what did debarge in..and the sylvers would've been better in the long run if Leon would've stayed in it...if I recall Joe jackson wrote non of the hit singles for the Jackson 5 that was all berry Gordy and his songwriters without ABC and I want you back there would be no jackson 5...as evidenced by their lack of success prior to joining motown
+Pretty.Red. Thang The big difference in The Jacksons and The Sylvers is that the only real singers in the Jacksons were Michael, Jermaine and Rebbie. Jackie was an adequate or "good enough" singer. But damn! Everyone and I mean everyone in the Sylvers could sing, both male and female. Any one of them could've been the lead singer, not just Edmond and Foster.
+Joseph Edric I'm not necessarily going to get in the middle of this argument, however I don't think you give Jackie enough credit. He is able to single handedly carry the upper register in their harmony arrangement, and he does it flawlessly. It's just like with ANY singer, the material has to be suited to his style of singing and emoting. Now he's no Philip Bailey (of Earth Wind and Fire fame), but WHO IS? The fact is that he has a nice upper register product, and it's on showcase with an early Motown album, not to mention some lower register stuff with his album in 1989. On the Randy tip, he had a nice set of pipes as a kid, as is evidenced by some work on their television show in the seventies. I will say he appeared to "age" out of it (as the experts said Mike would). You are correct in the assessment that Jermaine and Rebbie are excellent singers. Mike said in his book that there was always a running commentary in the family as to who had the 'strongest' voice (his term), he or Rebbie.
+Pretty.Red. Thang Slow down. I mean, there would be no Temptations without Smokey Robinson'd song writing, no Four Tops without the writing team of Holland-Dozier-Holland, and so on, and so on. That list would be HUGE, so I'm not sure what your point would be. I mean Michael without Quincy Jones, and his publishing arm (Human Nature, Man in the Mirror, etc)___who knows what his success would have been. Plus Quincy had the ability to pull together ANY musician, had his OWN studio, and could bring ANY arranger etc to the table. There is a reason Michael ASKED Quincy to produce him. It's the same reason Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra and others did the same thing. The guy was a an absolute BOSS in the business. So it matters not whether or not Joe wrote___Joe did his job. BTW, I agree with the fact that Leon (himself a BOSS in the industry) would have helped matters tremendously.
shardae quinn ..most times there asses depended on it...papa Joe didnt take no shorts you practiced for perfection...he doest get enough credit for their success..yes he was hard on them but looked how it payed off...they say Michael never had a childhood but none of them did but it seems it effected Michael the most
The Jackson 5 introducing their brother Randy was great to see. Because, Randy also wanted to be in the group every since he was younger. I am happy that he had that dream come true at that moment. It changed his life.
Yeah, this was HOT!!!!! It was great the way they introduced Randy. Him doing his thing, dancing before playing those bongos. Great showmanship fron ALL 6 of the Jacksons!!!!!
