Jello desserts and jello salads had been around longer but peaked in popularity during the 60s, so they match the series' space age retrofuturism style.
@@MisoHungrie You can still find gefilte fish in gelatin in any Jewish market, although there you're expected to wash it off with hot water before you eat the fish.
One Idea to enhance the flavour of the Jello/Cakes: Jello: Put some Nuka-Cherry or Nuka-cola quantum syrup from the cookbook into it. Cake: use some drops of the syrups that were mixed with some water. I can see the vault dwellers using this enhanced recipe for some huge festivities, like an Overseers birthday.
Despite the fact that it's shocking that you haven't heard of funfetti cake, it might be a more US thing, you're a genius for figuring out how it works.
Personally I think the cake in the show was some kind of confetti cake. It’s basically just some colorful sprinkles added to a standard vanilla cake. Edit: never mind the the jello in the cake bit makes more sense.
Ah yes. I don‘t have chicken eggs so let me grab four DEATHCLAW eggs instead! You absolute mad lad. Great video as usual and I feel like we can actually see you getting better at baking. Heck yeah
Been a fan of the fallout series since Fallout 4, so I’m a relatively “new” fan, but I really enjoyed the show! Cool recipe idea, love the analysis you did to replicate it!
@@Swedishmafia101MemeCorporation aye, it's 'jelly' here in the uk. sold in solid blocks of coloured and flavoured gelatine, rather than the powdered form in cardboard boxes the US sells. we cut the slab into smaller cubes, and use half a pint of boiling water, then add half another pint of cold water. (cuts the cooling and setting time i expect) also, i expect it is due to jelly/jello having that association with childhood to a lot of people. my mother was the opposite, since she spent a chunk of her childhood in hospital with kids who were eating nothing but jelly and ice cream (tonsil removal) so she hated jelly unless it had fruit in it lol. apple pie is great, but kids love jelly and ice cream together. it's also the 'wobble' factor i think. (and most of the vault dwellers never really have to 'grow up' as it were.)
In Bolivia they use canned peaches, jello cubes and dulce de leche or chocolate ganache to fill up birthday cakes and I absolutly adore it, super yummy
this cake looks good feels so 50's jello was really popular in the usa during the 50's as before it was seen as a luxary only for the rich it sums up the lavish life of 50's americana
It's funny how these things change over time. Canned food used to be very classy. Lobster was junk for the poor. French fries were for the upper crust (and what you would serve Beef Stroganoff on!). And so on. Also, boiled peas were a popular fast food in ancient Rome. Food history is fascinating!
I wasn't surprised to see the Jello cake because I knew of the 60s obsession with Jello, what I was surprised about was that they actually called it Jello and didn't use some fictional off-brand gelatin similar to Cram and Nuka Cola. I can only assume either they had a Jello endorsement or it's because everyone irl just calls all gelatin products Jello, regardless if it's actual Jello or not.
When a brand becomes so well known as synonymous for a certain product, most the time courts will rule it as uncopyrightable except in certain circumstances.
I just found your channel and have binged quite a few videos now lol but your videos especially the fallout ones make me very happy to see a fellow fan talking about the games and brining it into your daily life! Please don't stop making fallout content !!!
super creative! love your editing, the quality of your stuff is always top notch! hoping you get to 1M subs soon cus this easily deserves that level of viewership and more! Best of luck with all your future Baking videos! Ill have my bell on!
I always love your style of presentation, Miso. Replicating a recipe seen in the show was a fun idea. I'd love to see more of these when inspiration strikes you.
ya know...if you only have one mold (for the jello, or jelly here in the ExPat Brit vault) you can just take a little longer and layer the jello inside the mold. you place the red in the bottom third. chill. add the blue carefully (pour the warm, but not boiling blue liquid onto a spoon, to help stop it making a dent in the red that has set) and chill that, then do the same again for the red bottom third. best for smaller versions, useful for vaults with smaller dweller populations..
This looks great, good work! For the record I tried making a two-tiered jelly cake, but I made the mistake of following the packet recipe as usual, which calls for 250ml boiling water and then another 200ml cold water. By the time I'd realised what I'd done it was too late to change it, so I tried anyway. The bottom layer wasn't strong enough to retain its shape and was barely holding together, but once I added the second layer of red jelly it collapsed and broke apart. Going to try again using only 250ml boiling water per packet as you did!
As it’s called a jello cake the tinge of color in the cake is likely jello. It’s an actual cake recipe where you make the cake, poke a lot of holes into the cake with a fork then pour jello over it and let it set then top it with cool whip. Though for the series they took it a step further and added molded jello on top of it.
I find it interesting how this points that Jell-O is canon within the Fallout universe. not jelly or gelatin, but Jell-O sense the name is trademarked by Kraft Heinz
I started watching a bunch of your vids recently and you're very zen for me to watch. I hope maybe some day you'll give the RuneScape Cookbook a look. (Even if you otherwise have no idea what the game is about.)
That's those two headed cows they have, right? I haven't seen the series yet so would this be like beef slaw fries or would it be like...prairie oysters?
Wait, there's a Fallout TV show? I don't even play the game series so I don't know why I care so much that it caught me off guard. I never liked jello's feeling in my mouth, so that cake looks very unappatizing to me. However, there is something mesmerizing about such a cake existing, haha
If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved you don't have to work your way to heaven because Jesus already paid for your sin so you can get to heaven through him and not by your works spread the gospel to everyone friends and family so their souls can be saved because Jesus is coming soon..
