I am 47 yrs old, I have this and other Jets songs on my playlist and now my 26 yr old daughter cant get enough of this song plus the others of course but this is her fave!! Thank you family for never growing old and always making a lifetime of hit music thoughout the generations. You are so awesome!
My sister won a contest on KDWB - she invited me and my buddy to go with her for the making of the video at First Ave downtown Minneapolis. It was a pretty cool experience to be part of the video. Thanks for posting!! So 80's!! I wore red pants, red suspenders, and a white shirt!! hahaha
so nice to read these comments. I was in San Diego, CA. And so many DJ'S would just run a few of the Jets jams together and the dance floor would swarm with people. There grooves were so organized and well orchestrated. I wonder what they are doing> i heard they went christian. god bless them. I would definitely support them for a concert.
On this day in 1987 {December 5th} The Jets performed "I Do You" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "I Do You" was at #23 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, the following week it would peak at #20 {for 1 week} and it spent fifteen weeks on the Top 100... It reached #19 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart... Between 1986 and 1989 the Minneapolis, Minnesota group had ten Top 100 records, five made the Top 10, "Crush On You" {#3 in 1986}, "You Got It All" {#3 in 1986}, "Cross My Broken Heart" {#7 in 1987}, "Rocket 2 U" {#6 in 1988}, and "Make It Real" {#4 in 1988}...

Just think, Elizabeth Wolfgramm was only 15-years old when she was belting out these wonderful musical notes for the Magic album tour back in the 1987-1988 period. She was a youth vocal prodigy like Brandy, Whitney Houston, and Christina Aguilera were when they were coming up.
Michael Verdick who was the lead beat producer on this song and who also did the mixing of this song, was one of the biggest reasons why the Magic album was a hit in the 1987-1988 period. MCA told him to produce four (I Do You, Make It Real, Rocket 2 U, and Cross My Broken Heart) of the album's 10 ten songs. All four of those songs were singles or hits for the album.
11th Grade Bliss. Winter came quickly that year. I remember. A lot of interesting tunes came out then, including my personal fave, " Swingout Sister" with their song " Breakout".
Liz could sing her tail off. I wonder why she never went solo? i know this much the Jets' music had so many elements to it...a little pop, a little r&b, and a little latin in it. used to love them.
my favorite Jets song although I have never heard it played since 1987 on any radio station........ I think that they only made 1 album but there were 6 hits on that LP, all of them TOP 10's.Good stuff....
It was rumored that Prince was behind this group under a Pseudonym. If you listen to that style, it sounds like Prince. Most new groups don't come out the gate with that many hits.( I believe it was Prince behind this album) After the album dropped, it was rumored Prince flirted with the lead singer who was only 15 at time, and her big brothers was furious... Prince dropped the group after the blow up from her family because of her age... That was the beginning, and the end, for this talented group. I am sure he black balled this group. That was easy to do back in the day. There wasn't that many record labels back in the day. With a huge name like Prince ; they didn't stand a chance of ever recording again!
Crush On You sounds like a Prince song to me. I know they recorded at his Paisley Park studio. I vaguely remember the rumor of which you speak but The Jets had 3 or 4 successful records. I think what hurt them was Liz leaving the band in the early 90's to pursue other interests, then she had breast cancer.
@@thomasdonohue1833 The Unsung documentary on The Jets blames their downfall on neither your nor demetrius' explanation but on a thief of a manager and music industry stylistic changes.
