After CM Punk won the AEW World Title for the second time in his career against Jon Moxley, "The Joker" has revealed and is Maxwell Jacob Friedman "MJF".
MJF is truly the face of AEW. For him to have the fans mark out and chant “MJF!” over their hometown hero CM Punk in his victory moment.. truly speaks volume!!

MJF getting cheered as a heel gives me goosebumps, he drops one of the best pipe bombs of all time, during that promo he demanded respect, left for 2 months, the wrestling world as whole realized the show was not the same without him, he’s proven how he is the 2nd biggest minute for minute draw in AEW, he’s officially a mega star congrats to MJF.
Dynamite was walking on the verge of the million viewers mark for weeks, then got those million viewers for two weeks, now imagine the numbers with Max back! I expect a huge increase for Dynamite this Wednesday night
@@KimiMTZ17 Punk, Mox, Omega, and The Bucks are all up there for 1st depending on the storylines and title situations at any given time. Guys like Hangman Page and MJF before this last stunt were just high potential talent. However, in the next year MJF might be the biggest name in pro wrestling if his title run goes as it should.

@@patrickcorrigan6259 no hes not 🤣🤣 have you ever watched MJF diss video of trip lol he is going nowhere near the WWE. They used and abused him before he has nothing but disrespect for the other channel
One thing about AEW is that face/heel switches don't come with magic personality changes. The characters stay who they are. It makes 'em easier to cheer in the long run.
Austin used to flip the double birds at the crowd all the time during victory celebrations, except it was always viewed as just a pose rather than an “F ALL OF YOU!” thing. So context is King.
The goosebumps that i felt when MJFs video was playing was just insane haven't felt that in wrestling in a long time. MJF is literally the best thing out there today.
He's flipping off the marks, mostly. I'm a Jersey boy...don't affect me in the slightest. He's from Long Island but we say hi the same way like cousins.
Been watching wrestling since the early 1980’s, seen pretty much everything. The voicemail in the dark of the promoter begging the talent to come back was pretty darn unique. Really good setup.
The sad thing is that it's most likely a redone version of a real voicemail Tony sent and they now turned it into something to make the crowd of gimpys think it was a work all along
Fun Fact: MJF saying "And I am the devil himself" was the very next thing that CM Punk said in that ROH promo they showed (the part where they cut it off). MJF essentially finished the sentence. MJF continues to emulate his [former?] idol.
I thought the same thing. He realized at that moment he had everyone and everyone had him and he played it off so fast and got right back into character. He’s so calculated it’s unbelievable. He’s the best of the best.
The crowd that once boo'ed him is now happy to see him giving them the middle finger... That's success right there... Be like MJF no matter what your job is.
@pey1091 he's nowhere near my favorite, but to say his pop was "lil", you're either hatin' or might need to clean your ears and rewatch. I'm saying that respectfully. They popped from when he first appeared on the screen and got louder once his music hit. 🤷🏾♀️ Then in Chicago, of all places.
I mean the man finally returned after cutting one of the greatest promos of the modern era. It's not like Chicago loves MJF over Punk generally, it's just the timing, timing is everything.
@@HulkVahkiin nah bro i never said the fans prefer MJF over punk but to get cheered in Chicago! And CM Punk is standing in the middle of the ring is definitely something!
I'm probably wrong, but my theory is the backstage stuff might be a work in order to make CM Punk a heel since it's pretty obvious that MJF is going to be the babyface.
@@Danimal1177 Nah man, its not looking that way. Supposedly Elite and Omega were suspended and will likely be stripped of the Title. And Punk will either get suspended or Fired tonight and relinquish the title....again. Theres also reports that he is hurt regardless.
As much as I like mjf, it’s interesting that on his way out because his issues with khan, he inadvertently almost ruined wardlows big moment, and now he comes back and punk and omega/bucks inadvertently ruined his return hype because of their issues
@@sgttoasterface5282 I still believe that the walk out of MJF was a very well executed work that should have resulted in him taking the title away from Punk, as the timing and everything he did was so in line with his character. Unlike what just happened with Punk and the Elite, who should be supposed to lead the company and instead behaved like moronic petty high schoolers.
@@ROMANTIKILLER2 I think the walk out was a bit of truth but mostly work, just another way for mjf to show how much of a draw he was while also letting some tension cool between them and he gets a long vacation. From the beginning I figured they had already worked on a bonus to his current deal and just kept it private so they could work shoot the storyline that he wasn’t getting paid enough. I don’t think he should have won it from punk tho, I think he should have came back and kept punk from winning it in an anti hero type role since he’s already being half cheered and half booed. However if they’re trying to fully make him heel and get him nuclear heat, what they 100% should do is have Darby win the tournament and during his celebration, mjf comes out and beats him down before cashing in his chip to steal Darby’s big moment and lead to a long feud with Darby eventually beating mjf at all in
It was not kept quiet lol everyone knew it was happening I think what you meant is that none of us knew how it was going to happen that’s the beauty of the whole thing👏🏽
I cannot beleive how hot AEW was 2021-22. This moment was special and we got nothing out of it going forward. We’ll never know how big AEW could have really got but from summer 2022 onwards with Vince leaving etc, Brawl Out. The trajectory has completely changed. WWE has just transitioned in a different world to these guys now
Man I was losing my mind when that voicemail went off we already knew it Time to GO !!! I share a lot of similar feelings for my job and I finally got a promotion at the same time so this hit home for me ! BETTER THAN YOU AND YOU KNOW IT!!
The fact that chicago cheering for MJF despite of punk being in the ring , really proves that you cant deny we cant live AEW without mjf. The wrestling world is healing. MJF is the real heart and soul of AEW IMO!
That pop when MJF’s music hit…and for it to be in Punk’s hometown AFTER a championship victory…AFTER coming back from injury. There’s no denying MJF is the best thing going in AEW if not all of professional wrestling right now. The guy knows how to invoke a crowd like no other.
God,I hope not. MJF is the quintessential heel. The best in the business as a matter of fact. It's possible to be over and still be loathed by the fans as well. They love seeing him back, because AEW is infinitely better with him around and they also know if he went to the WWE they would ruin him. Remember how he ragged on "PG" Punk? NO ONE wants the see "PG" MJF.
@@jacobbradford2543 how can he be a mega star if he doesn’t draw ? Literally AEW haven’t beat their first show in ratings. Think your stop stupid to understand what a star is
I'm so excited he's back. You really felt the dullness with his absence. Besides Punk, MJF is the biggest reason I watch AEW. He's such a megastar already, how many heels can get THIS level of a pop.

@@suranae I've been a pro wrestling fan since the mid-70's and have been through the territory years. Comparatively, MJF thinks and works crowds like wrestlers did back then better than anyone I've seen. It's like the dude channels some of the best heels I've seen in the business, going back many decades.
@@oldnerdreviews MJF is an average at best promo I've seen his style before in other companies and backyard wrestling so nothing special he's over hyped
AEW NEEDS this guy. This was the perfect way to bring him back and generate some much needed buzz after a string of bad reports disparaging this organization. This guy is a star.
I agree that AEW needed him back but they did the first part of his return great but taking the mask off and not attacking punk was a weird choice to me. I think they could have waited a week or 2 before the unmasked him.
You can see by the reaction of the fans, he is truly something special. He is the most loved heel today, reminds me of Randy Orton, both of them can do what they want, the fans will cheer them.
@@luckydoo369 i absolutely agree with you. But wrestling fans are too toxic for that. They would surely call his money in the bank rip off. But jericho was the guy who actually gave the idea of mitb. And the goal of the casino ladder is to get the poker chip which could be cashed right. Sometimes copying cool ideas isn't ripping off but taking inspiration & improving. But the wrestling world is too toxic for that

I think this is the best long term storytelling they've done as a promotion. That was dope. I think the initial walk early in the show gave it away a little. Nice.
Hell yeah….. best story line ever besides the formation of N.w.O. Its funny how Tony Khan purchased ROH and used that video clip of punk saying the making believe the devil doesnt exist. I got goose bumps when he came out. And to do it in chicago and get a reaction loke that F@cking WOW!!!!!!
Yeah I still can't believe Punk not only overshadowed this with his bullshit a mere 20 mins later, but also took this saga of their story away from us. Their earlier feud, the story, him going awol, then coming back like this..idk their staredown gave me so many chills. This was supposed to be MJF's offical crowning
Yea it’s really whack to be honest, this story was set up so perfectly and CM really had to go on ruin it all by getting hurt AGAIN and then going into business for himself, so I guess now Jon Moxley has to fill in the role of CM in this story and it’s not gonna be the same at all to be honest but whatever let’s see what they can pull off
So CM Punk was supposed to not stand up for himself? Lmao at least he didn't take his business into the actual show itself unlike Hangman. And that said I *LIKE* Hangman but him and the bucks and Kenny were in the wrong here
@@SapphireSandwichBoys 1. He literally went off-script LIKE Hangman Page during his first day returning to action as Champion before his fight with Moxley. So he did indeed, take the business into the show. 2. While some may argue Hangman Page was in the wrong for going off script against CM Punk in the show (including myself), let’s be honest. You don’t do the same thing and bring more trouble to more people involved. That’s a dick move. 2 wrongs do not make a right. If CM Punk really wanted to stand up for himself, he should’ve done what he preached. Go up to Hangman Page backstage in person, and say it to his face. And hopefully settle their beef where cameras are not available. If that wasn’t an option, the last thing he should’ve done was bring the drama out into the open and bring bad rep to the company. (PS: Be honest. Who knew Hangman Page went off script before CM Punk brought it to attention. Exactly, no one. Not even the dirt sheets reported about it until CM Punk did the same. So, he could’ve kept it down low but no. He didn’t. Again, not saying Page is innocent, but, CM Punk was DEFINITELY not in the right here. 3. Let’s see… All was Kenny & the Bucks’ fault huh… Let’s look at what did the Bucks and Kenny do. Allegedly. I repeat. ALLEGEDLY, they spread false rumours about Punk to the dirt sheets saying he got Colt Cabana kicked out of AEW and shifted to ROH. Who did we hear this from. CM Punk himself. Any proof or verification from anyone? Nope. And when CM Punk said that if anyone had a problem, they should go right into his face and say it instead of being a snake. And…welp. They went to meet him. And what do you know… MF threw the first punch to the other party. (Verified by pretty much all the accounts now. Not even a split account at this point.) That even MEGHA (one of the managers, neutral party) told PUNK, not the Bucks, or Kenny, to stop. All this, while Megha was holding CM Punk’s dog, who almost got caught into the fight. But CM Punk had to get physically stopped rather than stop himself to end the fight. Listen, there’s never a black and white when it comes an argument between adults. I believe both sides gotta be wrong and right in their respective ways. But. In conclusion, CM Punk was FAR from not being wrong here. Hope this helps your future judgement. Remember, like all good historians, never take sides and see the situation for what it just is. Which in this case, was a fire started by Page but fueled to the max by CM Punk in the worst possible way of response.
@@SapphireSandwichBoys Well would you look at that he said all this shit and now he’s gone (rightfully so, Fuck em) and Colt showed up and the elite is coming back
This is something straight out of a video game or graphic novel. I love it. I want more storytelling threads, characterization and payoffs like this in my pro wrestling. Hell yeah. Wrestling through the lens of a murder mystery, wrestling through the lens of a sci-fi alien invasion, etc etc. Sky's the limit.
On that note, I had no idea that MJF took off unexcused. I'm thinking that whole thing was a shoot? What's really cool is that MJF is doing all this stuff with CM showing him how to perfect what he has done in the past.
I wanna see mjf winning the title ..but in the right way....not by cheating, not in a 5 or 6 minute quick match due to punk injury or so...I wanna see a great match between these 2 best wrestlers...but still want mjf to win though.
I swear, MJF is the heel that everyone loves to hate, and hates to love. He's one of the greatest heels in the wrestling industry ever since all of the greatest heels in wrestling history
I still come back and watch this video regularly. I was there live and the energy in that building is something I won't forget very soon. It's honestly surprising how muted it sounds on the TV because you couldn't hear SH*T in that building. When they showed Max take the mask off and say he's the devil himself, we had no clue he even said anything because it was just too loud to hear it.

Without Punk and MJF on AEW for the summer things didn’t feel the same, because they both have a huge impact in professional wrestling. I’m glad both are back especially MJF, so that they can reignite their second feud. Loved their last feud they had. Overall a good PPV thanks TK!
Yeah. Moxley's gimmick seems dry sometimes , and his mic skills is pretty generic and bland. He's a sober S.O.B . It just looks like a character trait of stone cold buy the PG version lol
@@joel_13_ I'm a dean ambrose/Moxley fan, and I'm happy that he's sober but you can't be the bar brawler SOB type but don't drink. Stone cold worked because he look and acted like 90 percent of biker bars or dive bars in America lol
This was exactly how it should have happened… sure we knew the joker was mjf…so what? If it wasn’t him, people would be upset … I do believe the voicemail and the whole TK heat is a work… but it adds so much to the story. This kids future is brighter then he even thinks it is, if he darn harness the momentum he has now…I loved this!
The voicemail is my favorite bit from his return. I figured that was the only way to bring MJF back to AEW TV was that Tony Khan made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.

He’s so great he don’t need the belt and because of this he may not have it long , just a lot. AEW Career as champ 2500 days , 9 time champ to put other talent over. He’s a building block to get others over. The Flair with better talent of this generation.
Props to AEW writers on doing this long con work...they actually had me and probably the rest of AEW fans believing he had real problems with Tony Khan...MJF had the whole Chicago arena chanting his name...CM Punk was like wait a minute....this is my city...lol
MJF winning his first championship from his idol would have been cinema. He went from being booed in Chicago because of punked to being cheered. We were robbed of an ending to this story
I legit got worked into thinking he really got fired and was going to WWE because of his long unexplained absence, but I’m glad he’s still in AEW. This was EXCELLENT

Everything this guy does keeps getting better and better. The kid is a throwback wrestler and will carry whatever company he is in for the next few years.
Yeah I watched AEW for MJF and WWE for Brock Lesnar. I can watch AEW again. WWE I haven't watched since Brock quit and probably not going to in the near future.
MJF's champion heel turn will be one of the greatest in wrestling history. I'm calling it now. Buckle up ladies and gentlemen. This man is gonna cement himself as one of the GOATS. There's a reason why it's taken him this long to get that belt. Because it's gonna be very special.
This return paid off big time for long term storytelling. The welcome back pop from fans show how much we love to hate him and we hell appreciate what he has done for the wrestling industry MJF Is what I turn in for each week on AEW can't wait for Wednesday already for his return promo as its gonna be awesome!
